I agree, If I was to have used a roundhouse kick (martial arts technique) I wouldn't have attacked the person firsta s they could press charges for GBH using martial arts when not neded to. If I were using just a straight out punch like a boxing punch (right hook/cross) I would have jumped straight in because the cannot press charges against you using martial arts. I am certain that if you use martial arts and are sentenced, you can have your license taken off you and are banned from martila arts for so-long.

bedtime isn't a very good one for me.If I was going to meditate in school, that would be better, cos in bed your body rests and shutsdown anywa.where as in school, you are fully active and there is a more busy environment, if you can meditate in schoool and achieve peace of mind, you can do the same anywhere

moobrack replied to username237's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
why do you think that our there were no karate international referees in the fighting, the boss and head sensei didn't want to seem biased. -

Karate Ni Cente Nashi (no first attack in karate) This is a keyt point for people who study shotokan karate, all the fight and brawls I have been in in the past, I have aplied this rule, I won't fight unles they attack first, if they don't, they aren't worth fighting cos they haven't got the bottle to start it.

I don't work with the fans but I do know that they are a very popular Wushu weapon and the forms done with them are excellent. The double short sword are a wing chun weapon also, do you study Wing Chun? _________________ Anthony Bullock 1st Dan Shotokan Karate Karate International Black Belt Schools (UK) (Moderator of health and fitness forum) http://www.karateforums.co.uk [ This Message was edited by: moobrack on 2001-11-30 07:55 ]

Kicks in a self-defense situation.
moobrack replied to Angus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
if youare quick enough and get the chance, I have nevre actually done it but it may come in handy later on in life in them situations. Roundhouse kick to the side of the knee.Go through it like a blade would through a melon. -
I am late on this topic but here are my thoughts. I love point sparring. It is as you say a great way to build upfitness and co-ordination and speed. It is also very fun, even if you are against a 7foot tall bodybuilder. It is even more fun to fight against somebody with control. C Ya

What about aikido?
moobrack replied to jimmyprince's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
sounds very cheap..........are you sure that you will be getting quality training there with it being so cheap? -
Try to form a technique tospinning them which wil let you spin them with your hands sweating, try not to make it too different from the technique used in the kata.

I agree SaifightSM, I have only just started training in Kobudo, under Tobias_Reece, and I find it brilliant, I now do it as regular as I can, and hopefully in the future, may have enough knowledge to start grading.

Martial Arts as a way of life
moobrack replied to moobrack's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
yes, It actually makes some instances in life easier than before you started training, e.i, being able to roundhouse kick a soccer ball into the back of the goals. I love the benefits, but remember, for the benefits to keep on rolling out, you need to train hard. C Ya -
Honorary Black Belts.
moobrack replied to Karateka_latino's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I personally know somebpdy who has been offered an honourary black belt because of their skill, and devotion to the art, and also that he had taken a black belt grading twice before, to help him prepare. The man refused to take the black belt and said that he wants to earn it on the day, and not for his accomplishments elsewhere. This is the sign that a black belt portrays in my head. -
Black Belts have to be earned through consistency of good, solid training, and sheers determination, for example. On my 1st Dan grading, it started out fibe, then I developed an awful migrane and started to vomit. I was vomiting non-stop on and off for the whole grading.Karate-Ronin kept asking me to sit down, but I wouldn't because I wanted the belt so much despite feeling like total garbage. I think that anywhere along the lines of what I have just said shows that you are mentally ready to achieve a black belt grade.
