One has to remember that without structure, there would simply be chaos. One has to know that we all need structure in which to secure a basis in which we can relate to the world. We should not mistake structure with being rigid, as there must be flexability in order to adapt to the changes of the world. In the search for the truth you must be flexible, but also mantain a certain degree of structure. Without a basis, you are merely repeating history, you will make mistakes made long before you, and not learn from the experience and wisdom of others. People who dismiss the past are doomed to make the mistakes, made before them...

Should avoid ephedra....will cause problems with the heart. Most health food products are undertested, and in alot of cases when tested not independently. Labels are not listed properly...ie. the listing of the nutritional information on protien bars. Low Carbs means usually glycrine, which is not really a true carbohydrate, but has similar properties. Health food products, are a waste of cash, better to eat right.

Here's the article...the board doesn't like the link...I guess you could hand type it tho... Britney's Wee Bit Of Bother Pop queen Britney Spears fled for cover after having urine thrown at her as she filmed a TV ad. The star was bombed with buckets of urine by angry neighbours as she sang on location in the early hours of the morning, according to the News of the World. Residents staged their protest at around 4am in downtown Los Angeles, hurling bucket-loads at the 21-year-old singer as she performed in the street below. Fled for cover The star fled for cover in a nearby trailer and filming was abandoned shortly afterwards, the paper reports. One resident reportedly said: "Sure, I opened the window and yelled shut-up - but I would never have done such a vile thing." But the resident added: "We kept hearing the same song over and over but what made it worse were two 100ft spotlights. They lit up our apartment like it was daytime. Started screaming "Lots of people in the block opened their windows and started screaming at her. "Britney certainly didn't deserve the bucket treatment. She's a brilliant singer ... but perhaps not when you're trying to get to sleep". Last Updated: 10:08 UK, Sunday March 10, 2002

Where can I learn knife fighting in NEW York?
Iron Arahat replied to OxygenAsh's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
If that's all you want to do, just get a copy of calibre press's "Surviving Edged Weapons". It covers alot of the psychology of knife assaults, and the knife culture. -
Master of Kung Fu was also a cool coin-up game. Hundreds of guys would rush your Bruce Lee look alike, only to be killed by a punch followed by a "wuddah". There was also a stage where you fough a Kareem-Abdul rip-off character...

To Bow or not to Bow (?)
Iron Arahat replied to KickChick's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I have never seen a full bow by Buddhists in relation to martial arts. There is a big difference between religion and martial arts, even if the art has roots as such. I not sure where you got the sheep comment from, but I don't know where the homosexual comment cam from either. Amituofo -
In our club we train a variety of martial arts weapons, one of those being the spear. The spear is a fun weapon to learn, but also takes a long time to perfect. During portions of the spear pattern the user will "slide" the spear to give it a thrusting action. One of the students was learning the spear and practicing a portion of the pattern where you dilver several sequential thrusts. He lost control of the spear and it flew across the room. The spear found its tarket. The target fortunately was a heavy bag. Unfortunately it was a water bag. The spear had pierced the rubber outer liner (the bag had no padding, pure water filling) and was sticking straight out of the bag. Everyone that saw what had happened stopped and was looking in amazement. The student walked over to the bag, and before anyone could stop him he pulled the spear from the bag. This action caused the bag to virtually explode with a tidal wave of water that the student was now trying to stop with his hands. The end result was a deflated water bag with a major puncture, and one wet student who was embarrased by the whole thing. We still laugh about it today...my only regret is that we didn't have a video camera going.

Yes there is a relationship between Buddhism and many arts. I think you should learn more about what you speak in regards to Shinto and Buddhism before you pass judgement. Again I must state that you are unclear on the division between Shinto and Buddhism. Which is understandable in that many Buddhist temples are near Shinto shrines, and that many japanese follow Shinto and Buddhist ways. Judo is based on Shinto protocol, not buddhist. I never stated anyone was a hippocrit...and I'm not sure if you really believe everyone is the same in some of your prior posts about Catholics, Mormon, Buddhists, and Homosexuals... -

I hate to break it to you, but Buddhists believe that you must train the mind for the perception of self nature, that is, to wipe out the impurities of that soil the mind so that the fundamental face of self nature can be really percieved. Secondly Buddha is not a god, he was a human being. Third of all a buddhists respects other religious beliefs. Finally Shinto religion believes that the gods have created Japan as their image of paradise on earth, it was present in Japan before the introduction of Buddhism, and I think what you are getting at here is the Shinto practices. I'm sure that 99% of people follow tradition out of respect for their instructors and their masters, not for religious reasons. Deep thought and meditation is to reflect upon oneself, not pray to a god. I'm sure in life you have had to take a good hard look a decisions you had to make in your life. Is that sacreligious? Meditation can be used to focus...it means nothing in a religious sence unless you make it that way. You should be more tolerant of others, and learn more about other thing before criticizing. I would take the time to wait for you to prepare for a headkick if we were in a streetfight KickChick... It would be worth the pain...

I've kicked to the head during a street fight, but he wasn't standing, more like scrambling towards me on his hands and knees. I've also done a head kick during an altercation at a basketball game.

I though most people bowed their heads when they prayed. A true buddhist would not shove it down your "pie hole". If you don't like the traditions...go to another club, fight freestyle. -

I am still a believer that people tend to make themselves vitims. They don't pay attention to the warning signs and get it. There are exceptions with random acts of violence that come with no warning...ie. the guy who walks into McDonalds and just shoots up the place for no reason. You have to trust your instincts. You have to control all the elements you can. Bad things usually happen when people take risks. When I say risks it doesn't have to be something like walking through the ghetto. It can be a simple as: 1) drinking alcohol - from slight to excessive 2) being in a place that serves alcohol 3) taking a shortcut you've never taken before 4) walking late at night 5) flashing cash when your on the town 6) looking out of place 7) standing out in the crowd I could go on forever. We call it risk management, there are acceptable to unacceptable risks we all take in our lives. The better you control risk the less likely you will become a victim yourself. As for someone jumping you from behind...there are plenty of things you can do if you don't panic.

Pro Wrestling ....A Sport?
Iron Arahat replied to ramcalgary's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I tend to disagree... Wrestling is real...not fake like boxing Just kidding....entertainment nothing more... -
I personally feel safe, but awareness is the biggest thing. If you are "tuned out" you will never see it coming, and that is the most dangerous aspect. Always walk with a friend, take streets you know, don't take shortcuts, don't walk late a night, and so on they all add up. You can avoid almost any situation without confrontation
