  1. Great story, Jiggy. Knew I wouldn't be dissapointed. I like the little touch you add at the end, very dramatic.
  2. Sai, thanks for making it alot clearer. Heeeelloo, Kickchick(hot mama).
  3. Ah, the old mind games. My kiyah would scare anybody. I never heard of that story Jiggy. How about it?
  4. So lean against a wall with one's back, while performing a split. Is the wall suppose to support the back?
  5. There is alot of information going around in the news about anthrax and the war on terrorism. Information is passed from one reporter to another, and sometime they do not check out their sources. Their was a topic on Bin Ladin's nuclear capabilities on CNN, and traces of anthrax trace back to the Department of Defense. But what is all of this suppose to mean? Nothing, it's just talk. For me, I watch CNN for an hour before I go to college. If I do not hear about the same subject again at 9:00pm. I forget about it. Most Americans should go on with there daily lives, which the media has greatly imphasized. HEY, enjoy the holidays.
  6. Green belt in Taekwondo. My school's sign reads, "Karate: Taekwondo-Plus." People throw around the word karate as a common word. Ignorant son of ...
  7. Welcome.
  8. Welcome, man. The UK...sorry. Are you just starting your training? Try to find someone in your school. I heard UK chicks are hot. I recommend one of those...or maybe two hot chicks. Yeah, two wouldn't hurt.
  9. The C.T stands for my initial. My name is...I can't remem...remmeme...remem...how do you spell...two m's?
  10. Are we still on the same subject? How did my analogy about jump kicks turn into a subject about foo...ummm glazed doughnuts....ughghhghhgh
  11. I'm been posting for awhile, but never introduce myself. I'm 21. Sr. Green. Live in Alabama. Majoring in computer science for an AA degree. Funniest movie "Forrest Gump". Coolest action film "Saving Private Ryan". Martial art movie classic "Fist of Fury". Like pizza, with mashed potatoe and eggrolls on the side.
  12. Taekwondo without jump kick is like mashed-potatoe without gravy. Sure, mashed potatoe still taste great, but the gravy gives it a little kick to it. Pun-intended. Sorry for the bad taste in jokes...sorry again...
  13. It's great that you have alot of things to say, Jiggy. Knowledge is power. But every time I read your post, it makes me want to...go...to...slee...................must... try to stay awake...stay awake...stay awake...stay awake...sta...........
  14. It's common sense that to withstand a hard tackle one must lower one's center of gravity. With the knees bented, it's like a tree rooted to the ground. Jiggy great story...but to looonnnggggg...longggggg.lol. Bon, never confused kata with actual fighting. I don't think nobody would stand in a horse stance in an actual fight. Even if a person was a complete dork and have no martial arts skill, no one would open themselves in such a vunerable position.
  15. Sorry to be rude sensei, but you should type with both of your eyes open next time. lol. I couldn't understand what you wrote... mist try to get estra slep or... see wat happens...I think I sould hav started streching when I was abot two.
  16. I can only kick body level with my side-kick. With my roundhouse kick, I rely on momentum to kick face level, which is also what I rely on for my front-kick. They are strong kicks because of good technique, just not flashy. uh-huh,uh-huh,uh-huh...
  17. Far better it is to dream mighty things and win glorious triumphs, than to be associated with those poor spirits whom do not win much..or lose much because they live in the grey twilight of self-doubt and defeat. -paraphase-speech by Franklin Roosevelt to nation. Think about it.
  18. Thanks, ya'll. I can kick high with momentum behind the kick.My subinim, who is six feet, can perform a roundhouse kick to face-level in sloooowww motion. Every time I try that, I'm thinking,"My hip.Cramp...must stop...but I have to...AHHHH!"
  19. In point sparring, the feint is crucial. Try this, qiuckly lift up your leading leg as to perform a front kick, as the opponent blocks low, excute a hook kick across the face. Try to use feints at the beginning of the match when your opponent doesn't know whats going on; hasn't found his rhythm. With feints, timing is the key.
  20. If someone wants to learn how to fight on the streets within three months take western boxing, Thai boxing something that is basic. Obviously, taking karate or any other traditional martial art will not enable you to fight on the streets, because one of the goal is to teach the students not to fight and use self control. You might think thats contradictory: to teach someone fighting techniques and tell someone not to use it. But karate, judo, taekwondo...etc...has so much more to offers students such as self-confidence and pushing there ability beyond their limit. I know students who could not even balance to perform a side kick, but within three months they be doing side kicks like pros. Is a side kick a good move to do in a real fight on the streets? No. Maybe a low side kick, but students are always thought to kick above the belt. Of course a sensei will teach a student which are good street techniques and which are just for the dojo, but thats not learn within 3 months. If someone wants to know how to defend on the street take boxing, join the army...Another point I have to make. Its about the UFC, thats not real fighting, thats just hardcore kumite. The UFC in my view is just another sport. If you want to see real fighting and how its use on the street of everyday life, watch the police, join the marines. First in a real street fight, the start of it would not be 20 feet away, else the guy has a gun. Most fights start 3 feet away from me. Second I would never take a person down, not a concerte, not in real life. There are rules in the UFC, no one gets badly hurt, or even knocked unconscious as in boxing. There might be blood, but mostly for a bloody nose. Whats so violent about the UFC? My beef about the UFC is that its just another sport, however people are percieving it to be more than it really is. Just like the XFL...hated that bullcrap.
  21. Thanks for the info. yall... Huh!!!War what is it good for, absolutely nothing, nothing, Huh!!Good god yall... undefined
  22. In point sparring, a good feint is crucial in getting the winning point. One of my favorite is suddenly raising my leading hand, startling the opponent to block high, then to cover the distance, a step-slide fast front kick to the stomach. Another one is lifting my leading leg as if to perform a front kick, the opponent block low as I execute a hook kick across the helmet. For me, I try to use the feint at the beginning of the match, right before the referee yells to fight. The opponent does not know what to expect and I get a free point. Well, nothing is free...but alot of training gives me the upper hand. When I come up with more feints I'll share them. With feints, timing is the key. What is your favorite feint?
  23. What are the best stretches to increase flexibility? At the dojang, we have a stretching matching that all the students can use. They are great, but I can't afford one. I see my subinim performing splits with ease. How long did it take you to perform the splits?
  24. I am a senior green belt and live in AL. The only Asian in my class...
  25. Whats the different between sparring in a tournament vs fighting on the streets? Athough in sparring there is no real danger because their is always a neutral third party, I am using the same technique and pyschologically, I am in the same mental state. I do not understand why some instructor say that sparring is not fighting. Is that just there opinion?
