  1. http://www.macaukendo.org/forum/read.php?tid=2180&page=e Info is good but I am not sure if you know Chinese

  3. Form is just the example of how to apply your skill. Kung or training method is more important in practical skill, e.g. Pushing up with 5 fingers, Grasping and throwing sandbag about 25kg (Using the whole body) & etc. Without basic physical strength, all skill of Chin na is surely flowery skill.
  4. To be simple, after Bruce Lee died, his students divided into 2 groups JKD concept ---- Dan Inosanto, the guy continues to do research and learning other martial art, considering that JKD is only concept of "using what is useful for yourself and abandoned the useless" as what Bruce Lee mentioned. Gaining his blackbelt in BJJ at his 60's and still learning other martial art. And added many Southeast asia martial art in training context. Original JKD ---- Ted Wong and other students would like to fix what is "JKD", teaching only what Bruce Lee "teach" and "learn"....Whenever there is problem, just looking into what Bruce Lee learnt, Wing Chun, Fencing and etc. No information is allowed to add. Under Original JKD, this also divided into 2 more new group..... 1) Original JKD kick boxing teaches only striking fight 2) Original JKD grappling teaches only about 30 grappling skill that shows in late Bruce Lee's private information.
  5. One of the practical style Tai Chi Master....
  6. One of the senior student of Yip Man
  7. OK, sorry to make you confusing. As I have mentioned that I am not Native speaker. Too lazy to look into dictionary....for the word [flex] I mean my abs was flexing. P.S. Of course, I did try to build up my ads by flexing abs and breathe out when trainer used Thai kickpad to hit my ads
  8. No P.S. By the way, even I dont believe that they can achieve that sort of effect. This is natural not to believe. Originally, I thought that they were just playing fake while looking at the video.
  9. Hopefully, definately, undoubtedly wont gain any popularity. And surely that is a good thing P.S. I mean the Newly developed Wushu by PRC
  10. The Animal, Sorry that I dont agree your point The "strikes" are not joke.... I felt that 1 month ago and the feeling just like the force penetrated inside my stomach and seems power wave rebound outside. And I want to vomit at that moment and lose at least 6 - 7 seconds before I can recover. (The guy did not use full power yet) The guy shows me this is about 30's something and trained in Canada for 5 years I wonder that internal Chinese martial art or maybe karate may also achieve that sort of effect. And also [Discovery Channel] has introduced this martial art. P.S. Personally, I tried BJJ, Muay Thai and etc. Just written what I have experienced for other reference
  11. https://www.russianmartialart.com <---- Some video there I have done some drills of Systema. No kata nor Form. Practical, simple, effective, interesting and deadly in case you done that well. Breath out and swing is 2 way that they eliminate strike from other. Of course, need to keep the "Form" and stay relax. (Form is the posture that need to stay during whatever or whenever even you lose balance, or to be simple, consider from head to backbone stay straight and as a whole solid piece) Do that well, you can counter attack at the same time later also. Bone breaking may happen always coz most of them may use full power to punch ribs and different part randomly during training. Not to hurt but to help. Each person would treat other friendly with the intention to train together and not to show off or hurt P.S. Just a beginner' viewpoint & non-native speaker above, but I would say that they are definately not fake.
  12. Weng Chun (Not Wing Chun), meaning "Forever Spring" For those who really are familiar with Chinese Kung Fu circle, should know the late Grandmaster Tang Yick "King of the long pole". After going in the website, click the left hand corner on the top http://www.wengchun.de/Galerie/Videos/videos.htm Enjoy~~~~
  13. I know there maybe some exchange of technique between Sambo & Chinese Shiao Jiao on late Qing about 1900. I dont believe that some Chinese Kung Fu come from Russian. But many documentation show that Muslim race in China teach Spring Leg and Xiying Fist. Han, Manzhu, Mongolian, Muslim and Tiabet are 5 major race in China after 1911 with the establishment of Republic. But before except Han, other were considered as foreigner or barbarian
  14. Not sure about the story is real or not..... But I would say that this guy is being challenged for a while after reading his story....Reaction as follow: 1) Type one ----Ask for tape or movie (Like me) 2) Type two ---- Just not believe what he said 3) Type three ---- Ask him to come out for sparring
  15. Currently, start to do some Systema, the Russian Army martial art. I find some similarity in it to Internal Chinese martial art like Bagua. Anyone can say more?
  16. This is a post I saw from another forums.... Just for reference....So I cannot answer your question maybe, but may help to think....I am asking the guy to shoot some movie next time if he dont mind Sunday, lesson time as usual, a guy from the Wing Chun group next door (in the park) came over to my premise. He bragged about wing chun for a good 20 minutes. I listened, very patiently, but towards the end, his conclusion was Wing Chun is the most "internal art" and is ABOVE all these taichi/bagua whatever I teach. sure enough, I said, "prove it". The guy said, "let's do chi shou" I said, "I don't really do chi shou, but how about I give you my hand, free, meaning I don't do any attacks, and see how you are going to do anything on me." ( then I slowly extend my left arm) Before i could fully reach out my left arm, the Double Chopping hands came right the way---one to my left elbow, one to my neck, very fast indeed. Turning the body to maintain the YinYang, I immediately used clouds hand to resolve the Double Chopping hands. Right after of course, as you can imagine, is the Exploring Palm of Bagua. The palm stopped midway, because I kept the promose not to attack. After failing the double Chopping hand I thought he would stop, but at that position, my left ribs and chest was wide open due to my position in using the Exploring Palm. I serioulsy thought he would just stop, but life is fully of surprises isn't it. So the Sun Fists started to launch from him. I could see this only from the left eye looking backwards, and very very fast were the Sun Fists I must say. I got hit by the first one, but since I reacted early enough before the fist reached my body, it wasn't too bad, just a bit painful afterwards. But this time since the 'practice' had turned more or less to an attack now from this wing chun fellow, I had to excuse myself from the promise but launched my counter-attack. After hit on the side rib, I used Hitting Tiger plam immediately, he jumpped back (or slided back, dunt remember precisely) very quickly, but then anticipated that he would jump back, I immediately connect my action using "Three Bridges" in Dragon with the left arrow stance. His left arm was totally sunk by that, so he turned slighted and the right "Finger Piercing" came like thunderbolt to to my left face. That was exactly the biggest mistake---using a 'short hand' to attack the long target (me). So I use my left-right arms to apply Mok-Gar Left-Right Fan Blocks, eventually the right fan block slapped his face, not very heavily, I must say, just some tears came out from the right eye due to the irriation of the attack. At this point, the 'practice' ceased, and the whole thing lasted for about 15 seconds... he said he will come back next week with his 'si-hing' to do more 'practice' with me, and let's see what will happen, stay tuned...
  17. Anyone here learnt Systema, the Russian Army Martial Art? Offer some more info & history about that if you dont mind, Thanks!
  18. We spar in Capoeira~~~~beside Roda.... Some takedown is not difficult to apply. I learnt Scissor kick from Capoeira
  19. For Wing Chun beginner, many would be too addicted to just keep using "Sun punch". And a bit dangerous if Boxer side step to throw 3 - 5 Combo punches. If dealing with Thai boxer, I would say that low kick from MT would give hard time for WC fighter usually. If in the ring, answer is nearly true for this. If on the street, WC fighter should wear very hard base shoe so as to have a chance to deal with or pass through MT low kick before getting into WC shooting range.
  20. Sorry, Never heard of this style before. See some pic and movement, I think that is more likely to be Indonesia martial art though I would not deny if there is any exchange of system during its creation
  21. you can't compare BJJ to WC. both are totally different arts. Both have different techniques and ways of fighting, but what's important is if your a WC guy if can you counter the BJJ guys moves. If you can then there is not need to study to it.I think you can find alot of the answers in your style if you look hard enough.I'm not saying WC has all the answers because no art even BJJ has all the answer. No problem. Everyone get their own choice. One should not force another to accept one's opinion. Surely, BJJ does not have all answer that why many BJJ guys also learn another striking art. P.S. Even Leung Jan has learnt another Kung Fu during his life.
  22. ****As you say it is important to test your art against other arts, i.e. to be aware of other styles and methods in relation to what one studies. Maybe, in some way, that is what Ali is saying as well.**** That is what I want to say! Not to be too comfortable in our own school. I agree that cross-train too regularly without really sticking to 1 art before is not healthy. But what if some technique that do not exist in your style? Quite clear that no ground fight in Wing Chun or at least "Traditional" one if you like to label that. Would you train some wrestling or BJJ also? Just do that for Insurance.... Accident would happen sometime....
  23. Yes, Human style is also a style.... Jogging, running & some kind of natural movement can be a way of attack & defence. Some movement are even more strange for coming from natural movement of monks, like action when worshipping the Buddist & etc But this style only taught to Monks before long ago & a little bit to people who do many charity to temple Being a Chinese and sick of knowing "Newly composed" story, I never believe that this sort of things or legend before. But this exists. I am still begging my friend to teach me some stance from it. P.S. My friend also does not know the whole system.
  24. No suggestion. But you should be very careful about Right Hook. (Of course, good boxer would not throw single punch but combo just you mentioned) And if the glove is over 4oz. (I think usually 8 oz or more) Padding, Chin-na and conservative punch for Wing Chun would be affected. Anyway, good to spar with them to see what happen Tell us more after you spar, Thx
