  1. Well that would be idiotic...since the term Atemi is mostly used with Aikido. Tai Ji has the applications of Push hands which Pan Qing Fu has son fluently been able to produce...Lets not forget Sanda and Shuai are forms of Tai ji.
  2. There could be one. He only spars with beginners so they dont have to spar with any one else and risk injury....
  3. At one school I was at they charge $35 dollars for kyu and $150 dollars for dan...but then you have to travel to a board of directors, pay for a hotel for atleast one night, because its a two day test. and driving was an 8 hour drive... Then you have to cover food...(gas)...My teacher wanted me to take him out to eat, and then his teacher accompanied, and I felt I had to treat them... shodan cost me $500 EASY!! What I charge for testing fees Kyu= 0 dan = 0 ...unless they want a silk belt, then we go half and half 15/15
  4. Yeah. I dont buy into the mysticism. It may be for some people, but I rather be skillful than mystical.
  5. Concerning who and what?
  6. So when you do a technique really well...do you call it skill?...I do...
  7. No problem bub Onaga is the family name Michiko is her given name. She is the daughter and most senior student of Yoshimitsu Onaga
  8. But if you dont know then it can hinder your work for example I was in this same uechi ryu class with another. We are part of the Internation uechi Ryu federation...but this guy was too busy watching youtube movies trying to emulate Ryuko Tomoyose...who is shohei ryu, and all the katas are different, so he would learn our style and then screw it over by learning the shohei version.
  9. I must be getting use to your style, because I knew you would say something like that haha. thats why I put onaga michiko on there...
  10. I think it is a step in the process; not much more or less. How many little boys state that they want to be just like their father when they grow up? How many do? Finding a good example to follow in the beginning is a good place to start. At some point, things begin to fall into place. But what if your example is not the best for you?
  11. Yes but not exactly like mine correct?
  12. Hai, Onaga Michiko Sense, Nao Morooka, Ryoki Tani, etc etc
  13. That was preventative measure if they said they could not be like Koshihiko Koga. Ryoki Tani is by far the best female judoka in my opinion.
  14. Not really it is unique to me.
  15. How does it do?...It is terrible grammar for "How are you doing"? and it could also be towards what exactly am I suppose to put here...it could be either. to each his own.
  16. What did this guy say?
  17. So, anyone of us, going to Korea, can recieve the same "homorary belt". I mean, if we were not into politics or celeb status, or public statyus, would anyone recieve such? I would think not. Depends if you happen to be friends with a grand master or the kukkiwon, haha. Although President Bush was on good terms with Korea, and he never got one. Bush Sr was very well acquainted with Jhoon Rhee and he never gave him kuro obi
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6i3WaVNpGM Thats Koga San there. Very excellent Judo... BUT...if your a girl im not sure if you are or not... Google or go to youtube and look for Ryoki Tani...Judoka
  19. Haha, why would he only spar the beginners then?...It sounds to me that he is afraid that he will get hurt himself.. Although in retrospect I would fear someone more so if they had no experience at all and just threw down like a psycho... I think sparring with your students is beneficial...if they beat you by points than you know you trained them well...if they knock you out...then maybe you need to find a better 'hobby'...haha
  20. Even the sport orientated ones can be effective. You just have to study it enough to make it work. Join a Judo Kai and learn the way, whether it be Kodokan or a knock off...Just joking on the knock off part. But anyone can make a sport an effective self defense technique.Toshihiko Koga is one of the best Judoka, and he doesn't make it look like a sport.
  21. Well, alot of people say shotokan is the least of the karate world, but I will stand to beg to differ that with any martial art its relies upon the martial artist not the art it self. So. If you have an Aikido school around you or a Judo school around you i suggest you check it out and try a dfew of the classes before you go about what others say about it.... Just my opinion any hoo...welcome to the forum ...
  22. Im sorry but we should just forget about the stars....I mean whats the focus on it. Its redundant because every star, whether its sport or television they all end up doing something stupid... and is Tiger doesnt lose his sponsors Im gonna be upset due to the fact that Phelps lost his sponsors...all but Subway and he even apologized to everyone.
  23. Haha, Im a jewelry salesman so I have alot of online time...
  24. Yes the one I was referring to Starts off as a single sai then goes into a double sai. I suppose I should have gone more into that into trying to quick type out of it sorry. But I have never ever seen this variation before...and Im on youtube alot...
