I've had the distinct honor and privilege to have been a part of KF's milestone growths for the past 15 of KF's 22 years. KF has endured its ups and downs, of which, empty chairs sit around the KF table, that can be viewed as the downs, however, the continued new member growth can be viewed as the ups. Either way, KF as a family embrace each and every member both the seasoned as well as the new with the sincerest open arms. I'm so very glad that KF has been in my life all of them years because KF and its members have made me a better person on and off the floor. Thank you, Patrick, for having the foresight to launch KF and for being a very dear friend and consummate administrator that you have been since day one. HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY KF!! May you continue to live on here as well as in our hearts!!

Well, the 3-0 Knights have now seen the Stars win the last two games!! Here I sit with my head in my hand, however, isn't that how any playoff goes. I still believe that the Stars can NOT win 4 straight games against the Knights. I sure hope I don't end up eating my believes. GO KNIGHTS!! -
Welcome to KF, nine1whiskey; glad to have you!!

Just having some fun today; doing nothing so very serious. My style is Shindokan. It's 85% hands and 15% feet; our goal is to get behind our attacker. With that being said... Shindokan is like Football. Very physical, a lot of audibles, and end-arounds with some punts sprinkled in. What sport is your style like??

I'd just have two separate displays to make things simpler across the board. After all, it might show pride in your MA journey.

Las Vegas Knights WON over the Dallas Stars in Game 1 in OT 4-3. Great action and some great goal defending at both nets!! House was sold out too!! Knights WON tonight against the Dallas Stars 3-2 in OT. Knights lead against the Stars 2-0 games. The Knights, in both games, have made the winning goal very quick in the first and only OT for both games. Games 3 and 4 will be in Dallas, TX. After game 4. if more games are necessary, they will flip flop between Vegas and Dallas. Knights might find themselves back in the Stanley Cup since 2018 where the Capitals beat them 4-1 games for the Cup. -
Effectiveness!! Without that, consistency and variations, either both together or separate, mean not much at all. At each level, interests are there because the consistent variations are quite evident. Still, that means nothing if effectiveness sits in the back seat as more of a passenger than driver. I've had Godan and above students of mine, especially, cry about this very thing that the OP brings up. My response was to them, their concerns should be that they're not mature in technique enough. The drills and the like are effective, so, stop belly aching and get back on maturing said techniques, and that means said drills and the like...with a smile on their faces.

GO KNIGHTS!! Strange saying that in Las Vegas, but Vegas is starting to host every major sport!! -
Only weapons I've ever made was a few crude Nunchaku's, Bo's, and Tonfa's. Not the skills like Noah has to forge weapons the require metals, like the Sai or Kama.
-
Personally, I've not entertained the notion that the OP suggests. Not for any particular reason, perhaps because Shindokan has a ton or two of grappling in its veins. Well noted is the eye to eye comment because one can't serve two masters. However, if the CI is mature, Karate and MMA teachings CAN get along with one another on the floor, or at least examine the possibilities of learning from each other, even if it's a tad bit.

No matter what I seem to do, the volume is no more than a whisper, even with ear buds.

Thank you, Patrick for the video, however, the volume was very low even with all of my volumes way high.

I've always tumbled dried my gi forever because that's how I was taught by my mom and grandma. Shrink concerns, if any, were always considered when I bought a new gi. So, almost 7 decades later, I still tumble dry my gi. As far as the gi not lasting long if tumbled dried, well, nothing lasts forever.

Congrats, KarateKen; well deserved!! -
In order to reacclimate me back into the flow of the comings and goings, I wholeheartedly would enjoy Patrick as a 2nd Manager, please and thank you.

Seeing that Shindokan is comprised of 85% hands and 15% feet, our flow drills are segmentally structured, meaning they're divided into Gedan, Chudan, Jodan, and Mixed. Our aim is to get behind our opponent. The use of our feet are mainly for setting up our hands. Our flow drills that we are taught are to compliment our intended aim at all times. Therefore, we learn how to attack the levels of our opponent, being it Gedan (Low) or it being Chudan (Middle) or it being Jodan (High) or it being Mixed. After all, we either create a weakness or we discover a weakness or weaknesses in combinations of our opponent, hence the flow because no fight in reality is always like a one-step drill. One side note. Because Shindokan is highly steeped in grappling, we've Open flow drills where we use at all levels of the body as well. On the mixed, we start setting up the three levels. For example, we will drill two of the three levels by eliminating the remaining level. Chudan and Jodan. Next time Chudan and Gedan. So on and so forth.
-
Patrick, I'd greatly appreciate some help with getting me reacclimated once again with the ins and outs. Thank you. ::bagovermyheademoticon::

I've tried to fix things to no avail. Did ADD players but not seeing I did any good!! Double DRAT!!
-
The martial arts aren't dead. What's dead is said practitioners executing of said techniques effectively. The martial arts shouldn't be blamed whatsoever, nonetheless, the practitioner most definitely should be.
-
DRAT!! Man oh Man I've forgotten so much about how to do this!! Martial Arts is far easier!! DRAT!! Let me look at it again before my teams fans ask for my head.

Fumio Demura passed away today, April 24, 2023, at the age of 84 years old. My sincerest and deepest condolence's go out to his family, friends, and students. He's well known both in and out of the martial arts world. In the martial arts world he's quite recognized for his many contributions within the martial arts. Outside of the martial arts, he's most recognized as the true Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid movies in the 1980's. He was born September 15, 1938 in Yokohama, Japan. He was a 9th Dan in Shito-ryu; his teachers were Ryusho Sakagami and Taira Shinken. He will be sorely missed, now and forever. RIP Demura Sensei.

On April 5, 2023 I had my treatment shot with Eligard 30mg. As a reminder, I receive my Treatment Shot once every 4 months. Surprisingly, my treatment shot that day was done in the morning instead of the normal afternoon. Yet, as of late, no matter the amount of prepping for my treatment shot in taken, those last seconds seem for longer because of the excruciating pain. Shot's given to my left triceps directly into my tissue. Next treatment shot will be somewhere on August 2023. Picture below is of the prepping materials conducted at Dr. Goodman's office: http://www.karateforums.com/img/photos/sensei8-treatment.jpg Link below is some details as to the procedure: https://www.drugs.com/pro/eligard.html

Indeed, it was a AHA moment, of course it won't be your last. Of which the MA journey is riddled with many AHA moments, some mild and others not so mild. I do agree with your CI's instruction for you to "defend better", which will come as you become more mature in your techniques. I do want to encourage you to not be dissuaded in your training in any way over this situation because it'll serve no purpose whatsoever. Learn from it. Train hard and train well.

We know it as 13 Hands of which we utilize 3 different stances, Shiko Dachi, Zenkutsu Dachi, and Neko Dachi while undertaking slow breathing.

Thank you for the help, Patrick. Let me see if I can rewrap my head around it all.
