  1. ive done kung-fu and there is no stable name for the uniform , but it is called by many as the tai chi uniform.
  2. well ive done Nin-jitsu and i think that you need to be good on your feet and move around very quickly if that isn't a problem then go for it!. Wing Chun ive done also , i say out of the two "wing chun and gung-fu" wing chun is better because of its quicker hand movements and striking
  3. i think the best thing for you is to lose the weight , then you will enjoy it more. A big aspect of the marital arts is the "temple" or your body , make it strong , quick, and lean.
  4. Well like most people i started training at a young age (3 years old) i am now 26. i use i spent more time on marital arts then on school, it is very interesting for me , and after researching about bruce lee i started JKD and stried to get as much information as i could, and today i am still looking for new things and are getting involved in other styles. How did you get involved in TKD?
  5. yes that is true , and if you are use to using the kick then it would be better for that person.
  6. It does not matter about the move , every power technique should bring power up from the ground through your legs and hit the center energy force of your body (hips/waist) then flow through to were you want it , do this and you move will be deadly powerful.
  7. I think it doesn't really matter. But remember you can look like you know something and turn out to be really bad, or you can go for the better aproach and look like nothing but then be able to defend your self really well , this gives the act of illusion a great thing to have.
  8. ive done and are still doing: JKD 20 years mixed karate 22 years capoeida 11 years kung-fu 15 years MT kickboxing 7 years western boxing 15 years nin-jitsu 18 years ju-jitsu 12 years shotokan 23 years western deadly arts 19 years TKD 13 years mixed martial arts 15 years wing chun 8 years chi kung 5 years judo 13 years wushu 16 years
  9. Im happy you wrote this question because this is were my art is dominate against others , i know bits and pieces from hundreds of different martial arts which gives me a huge advantage in that situation, im not saying i know everything because im still very much in the learning circle of all aspects of martial arts but i know enough to get out of that situation with out a sweat.
  10. Yes that is true about the movies, but i have seen people do it and i am one of them. Im not saying take on multiple opponents if u are not experienced other wise that would be stupid.
  11. well martial arts is kata after kata , and self defence is on the spot action. so in that case they are different. But to become very effective know just how to throw a punch is no where near good enough, that is were martial arts and training is a big advantage in the street. so in one case they are different , but in the other case they mix and fuse together.
  12. i disagree , many other more accurate and quicker moves can be done in a less time frame and be much more damaging. Which moves are you thinking of? well it really all depends on what your opponent knows, if he looks like a close range fighter then i would get him out of his comfort zone, and still from a long distance i would use either quick blocking moves from shotokan or i would try and confuse him with moves from capoidea , buts then agian capoidea is just fancy stuff that wastes energy and time. im a quick fighter and deadly accurate so i would finish it off with a mixture of kung-fu and shotokan, which are styles that i mix with my JKD.
  13. What is a "multiple fighter?" Sorry im using old terminology, a multiple fighter is someone that trains to be able to take on 5 + opponents. there full purpose is to engage and take apart 5 opponents in seconds. It is all speed and style work, not strength.
  14. I think the best opition for you right now is to go for the ju jitsu , im higly ranked and think this would be a great art for you because you are use to bein on the ground. But after you are comfortable with the art of ju jitsu , then you should try the hapkindo because it is always gud to know more than one art.
  15. you are correct when you say no style is better, but only 50% of the fighter comes into play. It is the other 50% that comes from the style its self and the more you know the better , never limit your self to one style.
  16. It is very simple, just use what is useful to you that is the only way you will get everything you want. i am a 4th dan in shotokan , but also am a strong believer in taking all information from many sources , so i took some of the stances from shotokan. But as for striking shotokan isn't the greatest the greatest choice , therefore you should research untill you find the correct fighting style for you.
  17. that is true , but what if the situation does not require kicking , then what?? this is were information from every source comes in handy
  18. i think that you should learn the more advanced moves , and teach youself to go out of your boundries , fight were you dont want to , only then will you have the advantage agiant your opponent"
  19. Yes i do am are a strong jkd expert , i have been doing it for years. if you have any questions please ask.
  20. i disagree , many other more accurate and quicker moves can be done in a less time frame and be much more damaging.
  21. You should never punch first because this gives your oppoent the advantage
  22. the true power of the fist comes from the waist and the ground, so it does not matter
  23. This rush you speak of is great! this means that your body is working and you are ready to fight. there are two different types of opitions the body takes "flight or fight" , all you have to do is control this and once you have done this you will see a huge different in speed strength and sight.
  24. For alot of my finger strengthening i use a bucket of frozen peas and ice cubes. hit the ice and peas with as much force as u can with ur fingers and eventually they will become strong enough to stick through wood.
  25. To answer your question i think that in that situation yous style does not help, and this should open your eyes to other possibilities. Say you were a multiple fighter then that situation would be easy, so again you should always learn as much as you can so you are always ready.
