  1. 20-30 minute warmup and 5 minute stretch!
  2. I agree superleeds! For Boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Sambo, Pankration, Shoot Fighting and other styles, Kata is just a waste of time and will not improve their training. It's only good for becoming a skilled Karateka.
  3. --EDIT--
  4. I always say I'm going training, if they ask what kind of training? Then I tell them Muay thai. The only problem with that is some people (mostly girls) don't know what Muay Thai is, they think it's like Karate or Kung Fu So I have to explain it to them!
  5. Bwa, ha, ha, ha, ha ,ha ,ha ,ha, ha, ha... oh man, my gut hurts from laughing, a shaolin monk...LOL!
  6. I'd kick him with my shin, the power and strengh behind the thai kick, would force my leg to go through my opponents head not just bounce off it, causing a devistating KO.
  7. Welcome to the KarateForums.com
  8. Squats, squats, squats and more squats. If your a beginner then your goal should be 100 if your an advenced student then 200-250 squats. Also kick a heavy bag for 1/2 an hour if your a beginner and if your advenced then 1-3 hours. These are only 2 Muay Thai drills to get your legs strong and as you may or may not know, many of us Muay Thai practitioners have big coke bottle legs due to this type of training.
  9. "True Father of Amercan Karate" OK BUDDY! A 61 year old man, wearing a red dress has no right being on the front cover of a martial arts magazine. If you ever wonder why so many people make fun of martial arts, it's because of goofs like him.
  10. "a) Have your front foot directly pointing towards your opponent.(This foot positioning allows for quick front leg front kicks and allows for quick pivot on this foot when you execute a back leg round house kick or side kick.)" In Muay Thai I need my front foot to be used as a quick, hard teap to keep distance and if I don't like my opponent, I trust my teap in his face as a form of disrespect. I also NEED to have a quick pivot on my front foot to execute a powerful cut kick or knee trust with my back leg so I would HAVE to go with A!
  11. Martial Arts has taught me... To be kind, honest, humble, respect the elder and all of God's creatures... YEAH RIGHT! Martial arts has taught me how to be effective at kicking butt!
  12. Kyokushin Karate vs Wing Chun; the beginning has the Wing Chun fighter do a form, but after that you'll see the fight. Wing Chun fighter in black gi, Kyokushin fighter in white gi, check it out! http://www.mcdojo.com/dl_info.asp?id=54

  14. Based on a true story Girlfriend - Sal... that guy keeps looking at me! Sal - What guy? That one? Girlfriend - Yeah! Sal - Hey buddy! Whats your name? Mike - Who me? My name's Mike! Sal - Mike... I'm gonna kick your butt for looking at my girlfriend! Mike - No... You can't... I train in Aikido. Sal - So what? Are your trying to scare me? "Laughing" Mike - No, It will take me 10 years in order to learn how to defend myself in Aikido... so can we postpone this fight for 10 "BANG" Sal - Sorry to hit you Mike in the middle of your sentence but you don't have 10 years to learn self-defence on the streets. Here's a number to the Muay Thai club I train at. Girlfriend - aww... Sal... you knocked him out. He can't hear you!

  17. I agree Blood Sport sucks, I hate that movie! " you have to fight... fight to survive... Kumite, Kumite, Kumite..."
  18. To be a "Natural Fighter" is a gift or talent, kinda like drawing or painting, I'm sure everyone has that one guy at there club/dojo that can spar or fight as easly as you can breath. AlsoSIZE dose matter, because if it dosen't then why are their weight classes in Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA?
  19. The basic elbow strikes are the horizontal, diagonal/vertical/cut, uppercut and axe elbow strikes. Kyle-san that is a very good combo, but to make it even more distructive and effective you should jab, then with the same hand still in motion use a cut elbow and another cut elbow with your other arm, both elbows should be to the temple or the side of the eyebrow. Also ALWAYS remember to cover your face with your other hand when using an elbow strike, becuase it's possible for your opponent to counter with a punch or an elbow of their own. http://www.shoto.com/pictures/articles/muaythai/weapons/elbow2.jpg
  20. Ignore this![/code]
  21. Well of coarse I have I job, how else would I afford training? I don't train everyday, 24/7 that would be crazy and impossible. I train 4-5 days a week and my training time range from 1-3+ hours a day.
  22. I pay $55/month with this I can train 7 day a week from 9am to 10pm.
  23. I agree with it, if your talented and skilled like the Shaolin then showcase your performs and what better place to do it in then Las Vegas! It will benefit the martial arts in the sense that more people will be aware of the style and have a better understanding or respect for it. Also if you believe it's "circus-type entertainment" then you can watch a K-1 tournament, MMA event, Kickboxing or Muay Thai fight, there are LOADS of them in Las Vegas.
  24. KickChick... I'm a Muay Thai fighter, I do more cardio and conditioning in one day, then most martial artist do in a week.
