routine
BladeLee replied to BladeLee's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
haha im not injuring myself that bad whiteshark and i do it sparingly. The main reason I do do it, is so that my body kinda gets used to the feeling. I remember when I first started sparring years ago, and took shots to the shin, man did it hurt. Now i can take many shots and feel fine, and i believe this conditioning has helped a bit. Like i said, i do it sparingly, and not full force but thats just my opinion -
Well kchenault, im not kickchick but i think i can help. I might not be able to explain this as specifally as you want though. On the side of your leg, near your quad, about halfway between your knee and your hip, is the area you want to strike. When you strike that area, drive your shin through it You should be able to find the spot on yourself just fine, maybe try giving yourself a few palm-hill strikes until you find it hope that helped a little

routine
BladeLee replied to BladeLee's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Your completely right kickchick but i dont mean everything you do for those topics, just a few things. Ill name a few of mine ;)not all i do, but some of it. Leg strength - Lifting, Repetitive kicks on the bag. Shin Strength - Heavy bag, continous kicking , find a hard object like a wall and kick it with your shin for a while, hurts but i usually keep my mind somewhere else. Overall power - Lifting mostly Overall speed - bag work, jump rope, repetitive kicks/punching, sparring Endurance - Running(only when its warm out though) bag work, jump rope, boxing, wrestling ^^^^ just a small example it probably is alot to list but i figure if your reading the forums you probably dont have alot of other things that need done anyhow so ya might as well spend your time listing a routine hehe -
Ive seen a few of em so far, and have asked fellow kickboxers what there routines are but i think ill come here and ask now for you muay thai or bjj practitioners, what kinda of routine do you do ? for leg strength, shin strength, power, speed, endurance, you name it and im interested heh

I agree with what you guys are saying about "being yourself" but lets just say.."if you could possess the skill of any legend, who would it be". In that case, Bruce Lee hands down...he has taught me more than anyone else in my life time Not to being the biggest influence on me and ya Bruce all the way heh.

What has martial arts taught you????
BladeLee replied to karatekid1975's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
MA has taught me oh so much Just to name a few things, i know understand and apply the value of integrity, self-control, and courtesy much more. MA has taught helped me to understand myself so much, and my mental abilities, well its like they are on a whole new level now. Ever since I started MA, ive read so much about so much and this has helped me greatly with EVERYTHING i do in life. And i must say Thai_kick is right, MA has also taught me how to effectively kick someones butt. Ofcourse that is only a thread of what i have learned, but, thats enough for now. -
Royler Gracie
BladeLee replied to three60roundhouse's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Well congratulations three60roundhouse! Must have been quite an experience to have Royler teach you some things -
Typically I say im going to (insert martial art here) taekwondo or kickboxing or whatever. IF someone doesnt know what that is lol, then I would just say karate.

Ok, exactly what i thought thanks alot. I would probably prefer the ball of my foot to someones face/head rather then my shin though. It doesnt seem like you could generate as much power striking with your shin as you could the ball of your foot when your target is that high(considering your fighting a bigger opponent, or even the same size really). Maybe im wrong, but thats how i see it just my 2cents.
-
Perhaps i just read this wrong but you are talking about a K.O. by kicking your opponent in the thigh with your shin using a roundkick right? lol thx

I suppose kicking someone head with you shin would be pretty devastating might be kind of hard to get your shin up there while maintaining balance and generating good power, but nonetheless, it would be nice lol
-
Ok, say your going for a K.O. here for competition or whatever lol, anyhow, if you were to throw a roundhouse(roundkick) to the head/face/throat, how would you throw it, what part of your foot, and ewhere exactly would you strike for the best results . Sorry for the vague info but, just curious b/c oddly enough im getting alot of different opinions. thanks!

To me, it represents totality, 2 half of 1 whole.

Just remember its all about your attitude stay confident and relaxed and you will be fine. You KNOW you can do it, so dont let yourself think anything but that. Just do your best and you will be fine!

haha, never heard of that one before ZR440
