  1. Yes, whats your point? Atemi Waza, are strikes to vital areas. Again, you seem confused as to the name of your art. Also there are a few School's of jujutsu, so finding a gradin sheet for you would be difficult. Perhaps you could find one for yourself. No offence. I have never heard the term Atemi Waza used in Shotokan or Judo.
  2. WRIST LOCKS, WRIST LOCKS, WRIST LOCKS! What was the question.........lol. Each fight is different, so one will always have to change. I might use a wrist lock, then a strike to the back of the head.
  3. Hapkido I based on my art of Aikido. If its anything like Aikido, which from what I have read it really is, then it is very useful, it is not strength based, but more emphasis on forming Ki, and technical perfection. For example, a move called a "kote gashi", in Aikido, I am sure there is a similar lock in Hapkido, can left you 3 feet in the air, from a wrist lock. Pretty cool! Oh and shabz, locks are fine on one? Hmm, I have done muiltiple attackers using only locks, in Aikido you floor someone with them, takes as long as it does for the attacker to throw the punch. Also, even scum wont attack when one of there friends, who is in a wrist, arm, elbow, leg, neck etc lock and you can see the bone slowly protroding out to the skin. But thats only my opinion. oh and Aikido/Hapkido is used by the police in the UK, so it works for them. Oh and Mauy Thai is REALLY good. Depends on what you want.
  4. There is no debate, mainly because what I say is fact. But I dont like to argue. Also, if one knew anything about it, Aikijutsu was developed much earlier, like I said before. The only Martial Art that has ANY characteristics of Aikijutsu, is Aikido. Again only repeating what I said earlier. I am glad that you enjoy Aikijutsu, and it is indeed a very refined and effective system. The comment about learning about your art was purely in a helpful manor, when one talks about a martial art, on a martial art website, you can only expect people to pick you up on your comments. But please do not take offence. "just because it was formed first does not mean that other arts do not contain some of the same characteristics." Thank you for agreeing with me, like I said Aikijutsu is the base's for Aikido. There is no Shotokan karate in Aikijutsu, as Sensei Gichin Funakoshi never met, or trained with Sensei Sokaku Takeda. Sensei Funakoshi learnt all his Karate on Okinawa, some 300-400 miles south of Japan. from my research Sensei Takeda, only when as far south as Honshu. http://www.daito-ryu.org/ This is a good website for Aikijutsu. has the history and other useful facts. But like I said, this is not to offend. Take Care
  5. I study Ki Aikido. Hope to branch out into some other Aikido styles to.
  6. Sure, I would firstly like to point out that you said in another post, that Aikijutsu, was a mixture of Aikido, Shotokan karate and judo. I dont mean to knit pick, but Daito Ryu Aikijutsu is none of these things. Perhaps you should learn alittle about your art, a good book is the "Hidden roots of Aikido", by Sensei Omniya. Shotokan Karate, Judo and Aikido did not even excist when Daito Ryu Aikijutsu was created. The great Aikijutsu master Sensei Takeda, was practicing Aikijutsu 30 years before Kano, Funakoshi and Ueshiba were even born, so to say that Aikijutsu, was based on Martial arts that even the creator of were not even born is a bit foolish. Sorry I just needed to get that off my chest. I am current a practicing Aikidoka, and we do very similar techniques to Aikijutsu, as O Sensei Ueshiba the creator of Aikido trained with Takeda for nearly 4 years, before refineing some of the techniques into Aikido. Its very important to get the break falls right, also the basic locks. I dont know whether you do Ki tests, but those are important. Best of luck.
  7. I have found that you get a good "feeling" for one club, it could be the Sensei, or the students or even just the place. But if you have one of these then you have them all. A student is the reflection of the Sensei, the Sensei is the reflection of the student, and where they train is a reflection of both. Go and see a few class's, see what you prefer.
  8. Yea, sorry just read that for myself, I was wrong, it is random attacks. But is then Randori different from Kumite?
  9. Here are some of Aikido, thought you might be interested. http://www.aikidojournal.com/Video/index.asp
  10. Sorry El Guerrero Loco, did not been to sound like Aikido is better than another art, I dont mean that. I agree with your Analysis of soft and hard MA's at there most basic level there is no difference, they are striving for the destruction of ones opponent.
  11. Yes, Randori, is a set of prearranged attacks, from muiltiple opponents. We do the same in Aikido. Its not the same as Kumite, buts is as close to combat you can get in a locking and breaking MA.
  12. I can't really remember why I started, just very happy that I did. I think perhaps I started for some Self-confidence, I was very ignorant to all the styles back then. I started Aikido, because I saw O Sensei Ueshiba and thought, I really want to be able to throw people like that. But like you said leaf, my proities have changed. Be Well
  13. Welcome.
  14. These guys are obviously very educated, and I hope for there sake they dont bring there trash here. Or I will send them some virtual Aikido to kick there ignorant bottoms! But then, thats just me! Be Well
  15. Only because I cant do them.
  16. Most interesting, I would say that I had to disagree with 50% of it, and agree whole heartedly with the other 50%. Thanks for that, really interesting.
  17. Ahh a ninja, interesting. Welcome to the forums
  18. Welcome
