  1. The closet MA to TKD is Shotokan, which is what General Choi based TKD on. Personally I would go with a different kobudo, if that is what you are looking for. Be Well
  2. I was told that he had a violent reaction to the Cannabis, when he made some cakes with it. The reaction was an intollerance to the calming ingredient. The effect of the drugwas that his head sweld and he died. A great shame. But I think that it is a discrace that a great martial artist like him had taken drugs. Be Well
  3. In my dojo there is my Sensei (8th Dan), then one 3rd, three 2nd, two 1sts and about. a few browns, 1 blue and 3 whites. Be Well
  4. Make sure that your Sensei knows, and try to take little or no notice of what he says.
  5. I really cant be bothered to carry on this conversation. You are RIGHT! I know Mauy thai fighter are tough, hard men indeed. You raised some good points and I respect that. However you DONT know more about martial arts than me. That is a fact! Be Well
  6. Like Bruce Lee he did some Wing Chun, and the general martial arts of Wushu, which I dont really understand.
  7. oh, but the GRAND MASTER of Aikido is the "Doshu" (Master of the Way). Which is currently O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba's grandson.
  8. I agree nothing more boring than trying to debate with a person that knows nothing about martial arts. Be Well Tiger
  9. I agree with Tiger, that is totally sickening. But remember that you did the right thing to leave, and remain calm, not to start hurrling abuse at that him. Well Done Remeber also that not all Sensei's are like that. There are some great ones out there. Be Well
  10. So you are saying th Mauy Thai fighters can take ANY blow to the head. hmmm.... I would like see how they fair against my bokken. Be Well
  11. I am currently study with the Ki Aikido Federation. I am taught by the Grand Masters wife Sensei Margret, and sometimes by the Grand Master himself Sensei Williams. 12. Tiger, if you want a poor arguement, read all that posts by "Eye of the Tiger". Ok, lets put this arguement to bed. I disagree with your broad points, I cant be bothered to read all your posts anymore. Be Well
  13. Now it just maybe me on this one. But mainland Japan had no REAL striking arts, but hudreads of Ryu's of Jujutsu and Aikijutsu, plus loads of weapons schools. Aside from Ninjutsu I dont really know any JAPANESE striking arts. So what Chinese arts could have effected them. I only ask because I am looking for books on Chinese Martial arts. The same goes for the Kobudo, they have no major grappling arts, so were they effected by different Chinese arts? Is there a sort of north-south divide? Any thoughts Be Well _________________ *Aikidoka* Master the Divine Techniques of Aiki and no foe will dare to challenge you. [ This Message was edited by: Kensai on 2002-07-22 05:41 ]
  14. My direct opposition is really only for fun. Even if he was right, I would probably argue against it. A Sankyo is a wrist lock take down then a very violent immobilisation. 35!!! I am 19! I have no idea what gave you that impression. As for Aiki, it still flows, but I am making the flow a little rougher than normal. Be Well
  15. Welcome to karateforums. Enjoy yourself. Be Well
  16. Sorry I did not really introduce myself. I am currently studying Ki Aikido, under a great sensei in England. I studied Karate for about a year, but it lacked what I really wanted from a martial art. I am very arguementitive, but if I say anything nasty I dont mean to be. Be Well
  17. Greetings. Hope you enjoy it here. Its great fun. Be Well
  18. I have never had long hair in my life, so I cant really say. But long hair looks better on a girl. So do what you can to keep it long and not get it cut. Perhaps a hair clip that doubles as a knife, and when sparring just take it out and stab them. Just an idea. 19. Tiger, Its great to see that you can use the copy and paste commands on your PC. However how dare you try to sum up Aikido in one paragraph. It is the way of Harmony, very true, but I lion killing a gazel is in "harmony" with nature. This is what I felt that O Sensei ment. Yes Aikido does try very hard to avoid hurting an opponent, but all the techniques can be used to deadly effect. Perhaps you should go to an Aikido dojo and ask for a "sankyo", then come back to this chat, and tell me that it did not hurt and that you did nto think your wrist and shoulder were not going to pop out! As a Aikidoka I can vouch that is REALLY hurts. Thats not to say that other martial art technqiues dont work. Tiger we were debating about the fact that you thought that soft techniques just let you fall harmlessly to the floor, and that a "soft block" whatever the hell that is redirects your energy harmlessly into thte atmosphere or something. Tobias_Reece you are very right. Its nice to see that some one in here is reading tigers posts, and understanding the fact that in 90% of them they dont make any sence from the one he posted 5 minutes before. Be Well
  20. Indeed I can, like everyone else in here. Depends on your definition of "tough". Its all samantics. Lets say that you win this one. I'll let you defeat yourself again in another thread. Be Well PS I already explain what I thought about Mauy Thai, if you have reading difficulties read it again.
