  1. To be truely effective in ANY of the Traditional Martial arts takes a long time. However, it is true that some take long than others. I cant speak for the other styles, but Aikido does take longer to become effective. So I would not suggest it. Kuk Sul Do, is probably the most different of the 3 styles you have suggested. Aikido and Japanese Jujutsu styles, favour more grappling and joint manpulation, (Simply because, a strike to an Armoured samurai with your bare hands is not a good thing. So the only way to hurt them unarmed was the manipulated the space/joints between the armour itself, hence why jujutsu and Aikido do more joint locks.) From my limited knowlegde of Korean Arts, Kuk Sul Do is focused much more on striking and kicking. Although like Karate styles, its grappling and locking methods are taught through forms or Hyung/Poomse. I have never heard for this Kodenkan jujutsu however it is NOT one of the styles that Aikido is based on, that would be these: Kito-ryu Iso-ryu Kage-ryu Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu Not that thats really important just a point of information. Good Luck in what you study.
  2. Good to see you back Big Game. Cheers Monkey for the info.
  3. Its just a figure of speech Patrick. I was just pointing it out to you, but obviously you need no help what so ever.
  4. I was just reading the TSD book by GM Kang Uk Lee. It looks very close to Shotokan, even more so than TKD. Does the simlarity stop there, or is there a link? Cheers.
  5. As we have seen this list collected by so called Martial Arts experts and very few of us agree with it. So what your list be, and WHY do you have them on your list. I'll start. 10. Western Boxing - Ali 9. BJJ - a truely amazingly skillful style 8. Ninjutsu - the worlds most complete art 7. Kyuoshin Karate - Mas Oyama. 6. Shaolin - beautfil and amazing dedication of its practioners. (Buddist Monks) 6. Goju Ryu Karate Do - So fuild 5. Jujutsu, From Kito to Aikijutsu - a bit vague with I love them all. 4. Hsing I - So so solid. 3. Ba Gua - one of the worlds most beautiful arts 2. Judo - practical application and fittness 1.Aikido - its my passion and my life. Ofcourse this is only my list. I am sure that people would disagree. So please put down what your list would be.
  6. I just dont like the idea of Judo not getting on the list.
  7. Sure kchenault, I have been reading those so called "posts". I ahve been here sometime, I know what a good post looks like.
  8. Ummm..... Katana, Chain Saw, Rail Gun, Light Saber and a Snow plough. I would go with the Snow Plough, especially in winter.
  9. AH right. Cheers for clearing that up.
  10. Pah! TROWL MAN!
  11. Oh nice, easy for some. I got another 11 years yet.
  12. Hang on there Monkey. No one was being off hand. Merely exchanging ideas in a powerful manor. I am sure that JJ fighter will agree with me.
  13. Indeed they do Tobaid indeed they do. And Leaf, I have not really done anything wrong. In general, the Samurai were out numbered. And their quality won the day, same with the Mongols. As for this Flame war, its just joking about. Tobais studies an art that uses garden tools, like TROWLS. He really wants a Katana and he just cant. MWhahahahaha
  14. Patrick, just wanna make a point. It seems that most of the (e)X-men, are'nt even coming to the site anymore. Its only Toabias, Zero and myself. I dont want to be a sore loser or anything, but we are at a disadvantage for the word go. Also, most of the posts that have been done during this competition, are usually pretty transparent and useless. Just IMHO ofcourse.
  15. I believe that the universe created itself. Following along the lines of Shintoism and Buddism. I am also a Humanist and believe that everyone has to take responcable for their own actions. As for the 747 idea, if that wind ran through that same junkyard for a billion billion billion years, in yes I think that likely hood of a 747 coming out the end it pretty likely. Its not that I am disrespecting Christ, its just that Christianity has done SO MANY bad things over the like centry, I cant bare to look at the bible without bulking in disgust.
  16. LMAO Now omnifinte, you are kidding right? I think you'll find TJS, that your sole reasoning behind BJJ being a better art was the fact that it does extremely well in UFC/MMA/NHB events. So I was countering your reasoning. After all it is a chat forum.
  17. Cheers leaf. Did Yamaguchi and Miyagi ever meet? Did they have the same teacher?
  18. I perfer O-uchi-gari. Its a far far easier reap to do. Coming between the legs for the reap presents a very easy groin atmei even before you reap. Coming on the outside for O-soto-gari, is better for counters to say something like O-Goshi, when the attackers weight is already forward. Do you do alot of Judo throws in BJJ JJfighter?
  19. There is nothing you can do about it, unless you put yourself in that situation more and more. Not really advisable though.
  20. Yea, but I DONT believe that god made this world. I dont believe in God at all. So martial arts were around before god, as god was never there to start with. Ofcourse thats only IMHO ofcourse.
  21. "These traditionalists that believe that they can only use their techniques on the street are not only fooling others but are fooling themselves as well." I cant quite believe I am reading this, and then you have the gaul to ask people to stop being derogitory to you? Hmm........ As far as a 8 year old BB goes, thats just wrong. But not all traditional styles are like that. We have had this conversation before JJ fighter and I thought you started to understand what we(traditionalists) are going on about. But obviously not.
  22. I dont quite understand what you study there Decan? Is it self defence or a sort of muilti-kung Fu style?
  23. Like it says its just a "demostration". I am sure Leon is fully aware of the realities of combat. I have no doubt in my mind that such a technique would be very difficult to apply in a real fight. However the "principles" of the technique could be applied. Just IMHO ofcourse.
