Most intense training session?
BlueDragon1981 replied to Jack's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My most interesting training session would have to be the night the highest rank in the GJKJA came to our dojo. (not the grand master then next highest) He is a very good martial artist. Other than that one my most interesting would have to be the night I fought 3 people in the ring at once and learned 2 new katas and some self defense. That was definatly a night I learned a lot. (only five people attended class that night I think) My toughest lesson is always when I step into the ring with one of three people. All blackbelts. One is a no holds barred fighter. He always knocks me around. I do learn from it though. One lesson that comes to mind as being the most painful was standing in one stance for 2 hours. (horse stance). Talk about pain in the legs. -
The Termn 'Martial Art'
BlueDragon1981 replied to Drunken Master's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Martial Arts has a broad array of items that are listed under it. Karate, JuJitsu, Fencing, Judo, Kempo. All of them are considered martial arts. Fighting arts. Although the spiritial end sometimes tells you to stay out of fighting. -
Neither. Study hard and work on your full contact fighting. That is the best way. Style in my opinion is just a start. Self Defense depends on your attitude and if your willing to get hurt to win.

I dont mind kata. I believe that it can make you better and react quicker. It makes the techniques stick in your mind so that you can use them without thinking twice on what to do.

Lining Up and Bowing In
BlueDragon1981 replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Ours is similiar too. A call is made and we line up according to rank. The head black belt has us bow to any others that are in the room. The we all bow to the main instructor. Then we do another item and say our creed. Then bow again after the creed. Also have to bow into the dojo before class but this is just a simple bow. -

BlueDragon1981 replied to ZeRo's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I dont think there is a way today to become a true ninja. -
What forms do you need for your belt ?
BlueDragon1981 replied to Blue's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I can only tell you up to Black Belt (Can't spell so my spelling may be off) (Also Ranking System May Differ in Other Goshing Styles) Teahia Shodan (White) Hajimente Fatatsu (Yellow) Ugoku Ni Roku Ho Mittsui (Orange) Teahia Nidan Yottsu (Green) Ichi Bondo Heian Yodan (Purple) Motosaki Katachi No Chokatai (Brown 3rd) Heian Godan (Brown 2nd) Ichi No Hebi Kishu (Brown 1st) I think I have forgotten one or two. We also make up our own kata between purple and brown. I will have to get my list and repost with correct spellings and the one I forgot. -
I have an Xbox. I like all systems really. The hard drive on the xbox is the awesomest thing for a game system....NO MORE MEMORY CARDS.

The style in which I study. It is produced from different martial art styles. The Grand Master who made it is now being questioned on weather or not he was real. The main thing that bothers me about this is it was started by one guy who doesnt like the system and only after the Grand Master himself passed away. I know there are bogus people out their. I do not believe that he was one of them. The art kind of speaks for that. It has been very effective in the area I live in and has also been a core art for other arts that have been made. It I believe has dojos in PA, OH, TX. Im not totally sure when it was created but I believe the final system was finished in the 50s or 60s.

I think the originals were better. Now it is just starting to get to many rules. No longer pure no hold barred. It is now geared towards grapplers more. (Not totally but some effective strikes have been taken out.) Keith Hackney beating Yakil Yarhbourgh was a fun fight to watch. Yakil is like 500lbs and keith was like 200. Well anyway tell me which is your vote for the best UFC. Mine is 1 - 7.

Im familiar with the US history. Politcians are run by money. People often die because of them not only in war. (Im sure all of them arent bad.) I just dont get the whole holy war thing. That is bs. Im a religous person but I would never use my religion for a excuse to make a war. Really I guess the real problem with this whole debate is Human Kind. We never seem to see what we are doing until it is to late. I mean we cant even stop destroying the planet we live on. How could we ever get along with each other. Human nature is probably the most brutal kind of existance there is. I hold higher regards for animals than I do for humans sometimes. This is getting to be a uptight thread. Just for all of you to know. It was not intended to discredit the country or any other country. Just trying to see how civilized we can all be with a serious subject and trying to see why we are all so obsest with power.

I appreciate your opinions. I however do not want anyone to get to the point where they are getting mad at each other. So please keep any anger to a minium. Most of us are martial artists. We should know not to get angry because of our training. America does have some very good things about it. I just think that all the power in America lies in WEALTH. The politicians in this country are usually rich. The greed of America is becoming evident by all they business scandals. America is a great place to live but if we keep making other countries mad then we are going to end up having a lot of bad things happen. One thing I do not get about this whole thing is the other countries that hate us and blame it on the religion. No religion in my knowledge condones killing people. If you kill someone for your religion isnt that going against its code. Now I dont want a big religious contrevousy here. That is just a point that I never seemed to understand with these so called holy wars. If things get heated up I will ask Patrick to remove the thread. So please be nice in your opinions.

I dont have to many weapons katas. I have made some cool ones up on my own. To bad I dont have a vidoe camera. I never do them the same. I always forget a part and put another in. (I should start writing them down.) My favorite weapon to do a kata with at this point is a bo. Like tonfas and sais also.

Whats your favorite Kata? And Why?
BlueDragon1981 replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I wanted it here because of all the others styles. They may not see it in karate section if they dont look at that section. -
My gaurd stance is forever changing. My style does have traditional stance but we dont have to use it. I do a boxer stance sometimes, mauy tai sometimes. I change it to learn what works and what doesnt. I also use a adaption of a cat stance sometimes. A stance I kind of made up on my own. Im sure there are others like it but I use it a lot and the others in my dojo im sure have never seen it....Basically whatever works is my stance.

Whats your favorite Kata? And Why?
BlueDragon1981 replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Mine is a kata called Ichi Bondo No Undo. I dont know where it orginates really. It is a chinese kata. The main reason I like it is because it is one that I do very well. It is also not to long and not to short. The movements allow for a very good flow with lots of power. It also is a kata that has many kinds of different techniques in it. -
I would blend: Kempo JuJitsu Aikido Judo Shotokan Silat TKD Tai Chi Shaolin Kung Fu Sambo Hapkido I think that would be a killer art.
