Kiss of The Dragon
BlueDragon1981 replied to mastertae's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Jet Li is just awesome even in the cheesy movies. I liked KOD though. -
I think that he is the best martial arts film star. Also people do not mention much are Jeff Speakman and Michael Jai White. They arent in many movies but they are good none the less.

I play the game and I love it. I have been called a devil worshiper because I play it. That is far from the truth but I dont feel that this is the place to discuss it. I just want to know how many of you play it.

I read R.A Salvatore, Terry Brooks, Elisabeth Haydon, Ed Greenwood and J.R.R Tolkien. All sci-fi and fantasy. Most are based off of dungeons and dragons.

Dude I work for an ISP and I had to fix a lot of that fake virus. It pissed me off. We got calls on it for like 3 weeks. Here is a site to look up viruses. www3.ca.com/virus/encyclopedia.asp You can go into control panel and go into add and remove programs and see if Microsoft Internet Explorer and Internet tool is there. Double click on it and the middle option will be repair program. Do that and it may help. Exept with the worse operating system in the world window XP.

My style wears a black gi in class. However when I start my own school im going to let anyone above brown belt where blue or red if they choose to. I dont think gi color really matters. Also take it from me those heavy weight black gis make it so you work out a nice sweat.

Im not very good at it but I do once in awhile when I find the time and I want to do something untraditional.

I would like to start a collection of martial arts weapons but I dont have the money. I have a katana, bo and a pair of nunchuckus.

I am not a belt, I am a human being!
BlueDragon1981 replied to Tim Greer's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I do not care what color belt I am. In the old days japanese masters only had two belts. White for the student and black for the master. That is the way that it should be. I believe the ranking system was created to keep people interested. I am no means a master but I know what I can and can't do. Im happy with that. My rank does not have any bearing on how I do my martial arts. I always give it my all. Weather doing kata or sparring or teaching I do what I can to make a difference for others and myself. I believe that rank matters way to much in America. An american black belt often times isnt worth **** (no offense to those who actually worked hard and deserve there black belt. You know who you are) -
Defensive and Offfensive Mix
BlueDragon1981 replied to They Call Me Bruce's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
This is up to you. Check out the dojos further. Sit in a coulpe classes. Any style should have their benifits and letdowns. Take the style that is more suited to you. Jeet Kund Do and the other styles you listed with it are more flowing and soft. Shotokan and the ones you listed with that are more hardcore striking. Each one as I said has their strengths and weeknesses. -

how do you become a ninja??
BlueDragon1981 replied to ZeRo's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Do you really know what a true ninja is? Its not just knowing the style. The history of the ninja is even clouded so do we really know about these assassians. -

How long does it take to become a blackbelt?
BlueDragon1981 replied to coltmakai's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Depends on the system. I think that it should take at least five years to get your black belt. Even then you have to be above the age of 15 in my opinion. 6 ot 7 year old black belts are a bunch of crap. -
The best thing is to go and look at the schools around you. Bigger isn't always better. Look at the school around you that has what you think as a quality instructor and students. Watch at least 4 of the classes and see how the class is run. Next ask if you can take 3 or 4 classes free. This makes you sure your going to like the way the instructors teach. Often times the medium size class with the medium prices are the best option. Try out different place though and tailor what they do in what you think the martial arts are.

UFC: Ultimate Fighting Championship
BlueDragon1981 replied to shurikengirl's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
The UFC is geared towards grapplers. Certain strikes that are used in some arts arent aloud. However these people trian in various arts usually so that is going to show that the only way to prepare is to do learn more than one art, since none of them are perfect. -
Happy 4th America and all you Forum Pals. This truly is the best country there is. (even though I cant stand president bush)

"Uncommon" Martial Arts
BlueDragon1981 replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The style I study is Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo. It was created in America by Grand Master Gerard Durant. He studied various styles of martial arts. Jujitsu, Aiki Jutsu, Aikido, and some other weapon arts. Goshin is a major part of eastern pennsylvania. It I dont think has grown to big in other states however. It is a very well rounded style and welcomes most new techniques. It has the traditional kata and the ranking system is different depending on the teacher. Each school owner can do what they want with the ranking style once they have their own school. I hope some day that Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo gets recognized for the great art that it is. -
Personally I think the best martial arts actor today is Jet Li. Steven Seagal isnt bad either. Im going to piss a lot of people off but I dont think that Van Damn is that great. I also dont think that Bruce Lee was that great either. I dont like a lot of flash. That is why it surprizes me that I like Jet Li. Seagal has never had to much flying and all that crap in movies. Clean percise moves is what I like to see. Michael Jai White is also another great actor.

That would be cool to see a reality based martial arts show. I dont really like all the reality base crap they have on now though. I would just like for the sports networks to cover more issues dealing with martial arts. Such as espn and fox sports, Cnnsi. I get BlackBelt magazine and Fightsport and that is the only way I can keep up with the current events in Martial Arts. And that is even after the fact and only covers big areas of the martial arts. So that show may help the martial arts get exposure if it works out.
