  1. Good luck Dustin, you'll do just fine. You probably should pick up some sport goggles just to be safe though.
  2. Nice poll here, but I dont see "posting polls" on the list! Kinda shady there KC lol
  3. Elbow strikes, round kicks, palm strikes and blocks
  4. smells kinda funny in here Like Jerry said, the body isn't made to handle/produce that much adreneline. Too bad 'cause it would be sweet to do that stuff. Guess I'll just use photo shop on my MA pictures
  5. Yep, try to sidestep, change angles of attack, and keep moving. You'll improve with time so don't get discouraged.
  6. Really, if I switched to a new style I'd go back to white belt. I'm there to learn new things. If it's in the same style but different organization maybe let them keep their rank but just not test untill they are up to par. That's what we usually do.
  7. An insight we can all take to heart
  8. Arrghhh! Come on folks this is real old More schools than you realise teach good self defense. We boxed, did elbow strikes, some take downs, chokes, escapes from chokes, knees, low kicks, and alot more. You dont see TKD'ist bashing "moden" MA's for their lack of moral development or character building (just an example). Why would we? It's not something you see if you dont do a "modern" MA and we cant make a real comment on the subject. You are entitled to your opinion but this one has been done to death. Edit begins here: OK, that was a bit harsh on my part but I'm tired of every other post being on how my choice of MA sucks. It's enough to make me stop reading the forum. I try to keep an open mind but it seems there are so many that wont listen to what we say. All we want is a bit of curtosy in return. Yes, self defense should include these things and the fact that they are not always there is disturbing to say the least.
  9. Mountain kicks... kick 1,2,3,4,5,6 times, up to 15 then back down again 14,13...2,1 all without putting your leg down between kicks. Now do the other leg... Jumping over people squatting on the floor for 5-10 min. Spar everyone in class one after the other... we sometimes had 15-20 people Fall over dead...#(
  10. " That's not a knife... this is a knife"
  11. I take it it's in VHS format then? Hmm... Maybe our great net guru Patrick would be able to help. Help us Patrick, you're our only hope!
  12. Chung bong forms... wow. Those were always my favorite but we rarely did them aside from Chung bong 1 and 4. Very cool.
  13. Any chance we can get you guys to share one of those with us? I'd love to see the film
  14. Here here Submission fighter! Couldn't agree more. It all depends on how you train.
  15. I cant eat before class either. Makes me quesey
  16. Blue, let us know how it goes with GM Ro. I'm particularly interested as he's in our area.
  17. We pretty much do things the same as Laurie's school.
  18. Depends on the hapkido school. The "old school" ones do have forms as part of their training. I'd have a look at all of the available MA's at your school and see what feels right for you.
  19. Quick question: What is the belt order in BJJ?
  20. A bit, but like you said, it's not a main focuss.
  21. Try to choke him... maybe bite like a rabid dog
  22. No way! That's my home school too! I've been out for a while though. I'm training with a few guys on the side right now, mostly from the U of M club. It cuts costs which is nice when you're a poor college grad and it's better than nothing. Send me a message and tell me who you are. We've digressed a bit here though. What arts do other people have in their area...
  23. Hey Blue. Not one that eaches it exclusively, most combine it with TKD. Or rather they have two classes: TKD at one time and hapkido at another. I'll be sure to check out that site. Where do you train?
  24. Ahh, forgot KSW! That's at a local college though and I don't know if you have to be a student to join their club...
