  1. I'll go with the Bucs.
  2. Moo Duk Kwon is Korean. As I understand it, it was on of the arts in Korea that unified under the name TKD. There may be schools that teach MDK solely but I havent run into one in my neck of the woods.
  3. The target you choose is going to influence which foot surface you use. The Ball of the foot is much better if you are aiming for a kneecap or other hard surface. The top of the foot for softer tissue. If you are well practiced at using the ball of the foot hitting soft tissue with that will have some serious PSI behind it and I suppose could even lead to rupturing of internal organs and the like. Of course it would have to be a flippin good kick to do that Hurts just thinking about it.
  4. Wow, that sounds great. Any chance of getting a digital video camera there?
  5. Yep, sidestep out of the way, sidekick to the knee, elbow to the head, leave real quick. "It's fun, it's easy, and you're gonna learn all about it" -The Crow
  6. Flower arranging... HAHAHAHAHA... nearly spit my coffee all over the screen
  7. Thanks guys, that answers my question nicely.
  8. Thanksfor the quick response. Work was dull there for a moment. What do you mean by "actual" Aikido? I assume that it's locks, escapes from grabs, and that sort of thing. How much time do you spend on those things in a typical class period? Half of the class? More or less?
  9. Kensai, could you or anyone else here that has done akido, describe a "typical class" for us. What do you do, how do you warm up etc.
  10. Aww, taeguk o jang isn't so bad in fact I rather liked doing that one. Especially the stomp at the end. Loads of fun. Palgwe o jang has a nicer flow to it though. I'm working on pal jung now, taeguk and palgwe.
  11. 25, right smack in the middle of this group.
  12. I agree. They made us water down TKD to make it more pallateable to the masses, why wouldn't they do the same to other arts? It began as a demo sport in 1988 and in a short 14 years our credability is shot. Worst thing to ever happen to TKD.
  13. I'm sort of between arts right now. I've done about two years of TKD and a bit of tai chi just to try it out. I haven't really decided if I want to continue TKD or not. I'll make a decision soon but I've got time till the knee heals.
  14. Exactly! MA's are about so much more. If they're not, what's to seperate us from common thugs?
  15. No offense was taken and none was meant to be given. Now it's off to pay homage to the god of caffine...
  16. Sorry, having a bad morning. My sense of humor is going without coffee this week
  17. What a jerk! A little self esteem problem maybe? Good thing not all MT people are like that. It really degrades a good art.
  18. Cripes I hate that, seems I always get picked for that kind of thing!
  19. There is nothing funnier than an unexpected shot to someone elses jimmies lol
  20. Elbow strikes hurt soooo bad. definitatly a good strike to use.
  21. Usually we use a stance that is less in-line than the one you use, that probably helps. As for getting the quick 1-2 kick combo, practice doing sliding in round kicks with two pads. hit the first pad with your front leg than the ssecond with the rear leg. Switch it up after about 20 and begin with the rear and finish with the leg that began in front. It's a pretty common drill for us and the only way you get better at it is to practice practice practice.
  22. Mountains. 1 kick, 2 kicks... build up to 15 kicks, now down the mountain, 15, 14, ...2 kicks, one kick. All without putting your leg down. Ok now do the other leg... (drops dead on the spot) Anything where the instructor says "Now go ahead and grab me". When you hear those words you just know you're in for a world of hurt.
  23. The problem with using any tech's on your friends are almost too many to comprehend. Loss of a friendship (theirs and your other friends who think you should have used more control), possible legal reprocushions, going to soft and having them attack for "real"... Take any "outside" senario and complicate it 10 fold. Sheesh. Better to walk away. What did you do by the way?
  24. I prefer method 2 you describe and switch alot between south paw and orthodox.
  25. Oh man, who said knockout gass was allowed in grappling?
