judo vs bjj
unknown replied to bjjbarbie's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
you gotta point LOILOI44 like BJJ, Judo is extremely technical........ i do jiu jitsu as well as kickboxing and i have messed around with BJJ and Judo and let me tell you, Judo is ALOT harder then BJJ....... and about BJJ dominating over Judo? well it all depends on the person........one of the Judo senseis at the dojo can make anybody of any style submit....thats how much experiance he has.......lets not get into this comparing thing again! -

there has been alot of talk about this issue ever since 9/11 and its relation to Arabs and the profiling that goes on. living in Canada there are many different ethniticities and racial profiling is bound to come up. a while back the Toronto Star (newspaper) conducted a survey and wrote many articles about arrest rates of Metro Toronto Police. They came to the conclusion that Metro Toronto Police has been arresting more blacks then whites and in general arresting more minorties then the white population. the Toronto Star has now been sued by the Metro Toronto Police Service for deflamation of character. I agree with Toronto Police because the study that was conducted by the Toronto Star focused on arrest stats strictly from the Jane & Finch area as well as Region Park. Now for the people who are not familiar with Toronto Jane & Finch as well as Region Park are 98% black. So the study carried out by the Toronto Star is demographically wrong. If you focus on an area that is 98% black then the arrest rate is bound to have more blacks then white because the area is dominated by blacks. so the Toronto Star did not do their homework. they focused on one area instead of doing the study on a more broad level. i can relate to racial profiling myself. my parents are of indian decent. even though i was born here in Canada (THE BEST DAMN COUNTRY IN THE WORLD I MIGHT ADD) i still run into problems at airports and stuff like that. people make the assumption just because i look like the enemy to them that i am the enemy. i go down to the states very often and i am bound to run into trouble when i go down by myself. all of this is the result of racial profiling. by generalizing one single group into saying that they commit more crimes or are terrorists they are putting the other law biding citizens of that group in an awkward and sometimes dangerous situation like the Sikh man who got his head blown off at a gas station in Texas. anyway.......what are your thoughts?

bad things about being a martial artist
unknown replied to Molson style's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
in response to Molson Styles you know people are always saying that its not good to participate in full contact sports due to injury you will get and so on. now i am not denying that you will get injured. ive been injured before many a time and so on but the thing that keeps me healthy and kicking today is the fact that i give myself time to heal after. as long as u give yourself time to heal you will avoid permanent damage. -
u know the winter driving raises a funny situation..... we got some snow last weekend and my nieghbor has a front-wheel-drive truck......he then switched his tires to winter tread tires, its funny cuz he only put on two winter tires which he bolted on the back which wouldnt really make a whole lot of difference. i pointed out his little mistake to him and he told me to shut up. well when i come home from school that day his front end is all smashed up! looks like he rear ended a dude! ha ha ha!

I live in Canada and they have been talking about legalizing weed for a little while now so far they are talking about decriminalizing marijuana, meaning that if you were caught with weed the most you could do is get a fine, like a speeding ticket or something but that still is going to take a while. i believe it should not be legalized - booze and cigarettes are worse then weed but weed is a gateway drug and it can lead to alot of things. dont say that education about drugs in early stages will shy kids away from doing drugs in the event of weed legalization cuz i did the DARE program when i was in grade 6.........now i am 17 years old and in college and alot of the guys i did the DARE program with are either dealers or dont got a job dont go to school and smoke up every day.... what do u people think?
