I think both would be pretty good, lets face it...fighting multiple opponents isn't a good thing fer any style to do. Besides for takin someone to the ground when there is a bunch of guys still is ok. Here's an example: Say the BJJ guy gets in a fight with say 3 guys. He quickly takes one down and puts him in an arm lock...after doing so he yells for the others to stop or else he'll break the guys arm. Think about it, would some guys mates actually risk there friend's arm? Also, it shows the rest of them how easy it is for the bjj guy to beat them singularily. Even if the continued on he could break the guy's arm adn do it to another, this time they know he ain't bluffing and the guy in the lock is likly pleading with his friend not to advance, if he does the bjj guy again breaks his arm and continues the cylce. Juss thought i'd say that in case an bjj guy here has a similar situation, there's one strategy for ya guys peace

Fighting
El Guerrero Loco replied to El Guerrero Loco's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
actually we both only kicked which is kinda funny cause neither of us do TKD, but he was to big for me to get him with my first and too long a reach -

El Guerrero Loco replied to El Guerrero Loco's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
U guys are right about being able to kick high without a warm up...good quote there kickchick dats from the TKD times right? Here's the link if anyone wants to read about strethces to help upi "kick cold" (without a warm up) http://www.stadion.com/column_stretch1.html I can kick over my own head with no warm up, but i'm not really tall so i have to do better than that, better start them dynamic stetches -
I got diagnosed with scoliosis
El Guerrero Loco replied to shuriken_girl's topic in Health and Fitness
My friend had scoliosis, he too took it off to work out and stuff. He is now a blackbelt, he seems fine with it tho. Pillows might be to soft to punch in frustration, try the doctor who diagnosed you! jokes, maybe a heavybag would help. Hope ur training still goes well, hope ya get better. -
In a recent competition i ended up figth someone who seemingly fought almost exactly like me!!!! The problem was that he was older than me and much bigger!!! So i lost, however i think if it were NHB i could have used grappling and won but hey, it wasn't NHB. Anyone else here fight someone who figth exactly like them??? I actually fought this guys twice, lost twice lol.

High Kicking
El Guerrero Loco replied to El Guerrero Loco's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My right leg is better than my left but i can still kick great with my left juss fine, i think i can kick just as high. I love kicking, its great, prefer to win with kicks but i usually end up either using my backfist to great effect or i trap the front hand and reveerse punch 'em. -
I know many of you don't believe in high kicking. But for those of you who CAN kick high, how high can u kick when fully stretched and everything? Like a standing roundhouse not a flying kick(don't have many of those in Karate, lol) I'm about 5'7" and i can do a roundhouse about 6'7"

I'm quite glad that u put his sorry ass in place. Obviously he wasn't good enough if he couldn't even stop a student from wiping the floor with his fake black belt ass. I have a good sensei with a good sense of humour. We allow head contacty tho. lol, sometimes he fools around when we spar, he usually wips me around but he came at me once and i sent him flying to the ground with a good side kick(oddly enough it didn't seem to hurt him ) but seriously tho, good job buddy, i'll prolly be joining combat sambo soon too(as well as karate)

BAD BLACK BELT!!!
El Guerrero Loco replied to DeeLovesKarate's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Dun listen to the "don't sink to his level" arguments. When have they eveer helped anything, this isn't a kindergarten playground. When he's mocking you give him a good punch in the nose, with any luck it will bleed. Sure its prolly and illegal technique. But it will definatley show him that u mean business and that his "skills" weren't enough to beat even you(i assume ur around beginner or intermediate belts) Imagine his surpirse that such a lower belt just handed him his @$$ on a silver plater. There was this real arrogant guy in a tourny i went to, after he gave me a shovel hook to my ribs and the judge was saying stop, i punched him in the face. The judge let it go and made us touch gloves, so we went at it again, and guess wat? I punched him in the face again I know, i'm a sad one -
Hi, I was interested in Mantis style kung fu and i was wondering if any of you do it and if so what kinda things do u learn. Also, what are you training methods(heavybag drills, kata, step sparring, free sparring) Oh and if any of you know any good mantis sites, preferably with video demonstratuions or fight clips please post them. thx alot yours in the MA, El Guerrero Loco

What animal are you?
El Guerrero Loco replied to thaiboxerken's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think i'd be a lone wolf, I dun tend to travel in too big of a pack. I'm cunning enough when i need to be but generally just attack wildly. -
Punching from the waist..
El Guerrero Loco replied to koreantiger81's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I think punching from the waste is pretty good when u get the chance. It DEFINATLEY improves the power of the punch. I thionk if you get the chance u should do it, if not , then fine. The whole, keeping ur guard up argument is valid but i have found that just "keeping ur guard up" isn't all that great. I have learned to be able to stop more punches with only my front hand and kicks using shin block and such. Now when practicing sometimes i even put one hand behind my back and merely use the other hand, shin blocks and body evasion techniques. Works like a charm. Mean while i can excecuted poweful punches from the hips, still i teach my students to keep their guard up. -
I too share your huge obssession with the martial arts. But is it really right to call it an obsession??? PASSION Now that seems the the correct word for practictioners of the Martial Arts. Obsession is a word for junkies not trained fighters. I'm always thinking about MA, even more than girls, and i'm a teenager!!! I'm always researching MA on the net, many different styles tho, not limited to Karate. My friends thought i was an idiot, but i started to train some of them and they are now beginning to see the light! I want desperatly to get a job so that i can start a different art in addition to my Wado-Ryu, me was thinkin Combat Sambo. Peace out my passionate brethren

taekwon do reality factor
El Guerrero Loco replied to blood talon's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Hey u guys. I dun take tkd but i know alot about it. Alotta ppl do bash tkd for the sporty types they see prouncing around thinking they're all though. But hey dats not all of u. Its almost like racism isn't it. Generalizing a group of ppl. Well i say those ppl who look down on every art that isn't used in "nhb" type fights should get off their high horse and say that to the face of a real tkd blackbelt. It must be hard to hafta keep defending ur art over and over against those types. Next time some says tkd doesn't werk to u, y'all should kick 'em in the teeth. Then let them try to say tkd dun werk. -
Most intense training session?
El Guerrero Loco replied to Jack's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
M most intense was prolly a 50 minute submission fighting gauntlet. I kept fighting ppl, one after they other fer 50 minutes, i only lost once. I tried to do a takedown but i was caught with a choke. -
I think a good sensei should be a high rank, a progressive thinker(is more worried about a techniques real practicality than how it looks) I'm not sure if i'd want a young or old sensei a.Young-they can realte to me and see thigns pretty much from my point of view b. Old-wise in techniques I juss really want someone to teach me that certain style of fighting and i suppose i can worry bout the practicality

I do Wado-Ryu but i dream of arts like jui jistu and bjj. I prolly know more grappling than the typical Wado guy coz i'm likin it more and more, even tho i'm taught some in wado its not enough fer me, lol i nearly made 2 guys pass out on the weekend. Got one in a front sleeper(he lost his vision fer a bit) and i did a triangle choke ont he other(saw double) Its so fun to grapple if only i had a job to start formally taking another MA not juss learning from books and other media.
-
Hey guys i assume you all know what a vascular choke is(ones that cut of bloodflow to the brain, ie. sleeper) I did one on my friend and he lost his vision for a minute er two, nearly passed out i think but it didn't hurt. I was wondering if its safe for you to make someone pass out, like don't they juss regain consciousness naturally? If not does anyone here know any revival techniques er anytin? or sites dat show them er describe them. thx alot.

Hello, my martial brethren. I currently take Wado-Ryu Karate but would liek to start doing another art. I was wondering wat you guys though would be good for self defense mainly between BJJ, JJ and Sambo. I dunno much bout how any of them train in the dojo...Could anyone tell me what its like and around how long it takes to become proficient. I already know some grappling, but whenever I grapple i tend to take it to the ground which i know can be a disadvantage but when confronted by multiple attackers aren't you pretty much screwed regardless of ur style(unless u maybe had a sword)? Could u tell me anything bout Sambo too? Thx alot guys
