Shodan karate...
Shotokan-kez replied to obiwansbane's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Yippeeee Congratulations! -
Yeah i totally agree with the couch lol. Mine is mainly because i cycle and sometimes i just don't want to do that trip and then wish i had a car lol. I never miss a lesson though unless i am ill or don't have the spare cash. Once i get there i'm fine and train as hard as i always do. Only at the end i have to cycle home, and then wish i could fly like superman lol.

Yeah i'm with you there. I'm not married or have a partner and sometimes i wish i did for the company..but you just have to accept what you have, and i have my two sons, a roof over my head and a good handful of friends..so i'm happy!

Don't rush yourself into training Brian, it's ok if you don't feel like it, especially after everything that's happened. On the other hand, if you are ok to train it may make you feel a bit better..i dunno. Hope you feel better soon hun. Kez x

Firstly thanks Brian. He was buried in South wales, but born in Scotland with a different surname to what we all ended up with. No-one seems sure how he changed his name or why, some people say he was adopted and others say his mother re-married. My dad visited the gravesite and asked the lady in reception...for some reason his birthday date wasn't recorded only his death date and i find that a little strange. On my mums side i have managed to go straight back to 1820, but my dad's i'm stuck here so it's frustrating! Yes Brian it's great fun, i've been doing it about a year now and finding very interesting facts. Karatekid you need to get as much information as possible from all your living relatives and write it all down. I would suggest buying a family tree maker pc cd rom to get you started, it will have lots of helpful tips and guides to help you along. It will be hard to start from your dad because he only died in 2004. I don't know what it's like in the us but in England our last sensus was out in 1901 so if you have relatives born after that it will be hard to trace. Also try Ancestry.co.uk.

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone on the forums was a good researcher on family trees. I'm doing my family tree and i'm stuck on my great grandfather on my dad's side. I know his name and death date. I know his wifes name and her death date. I also know their childrens names and where they lived. This is the only information my family could give me about him, as he died in 1949 no-one knows much. I have an original photograph of him in his forces uniform so i know he exsisted Just the census records and other search sites don't seem to be able to trace him, or his wife for that matter. I don't know what else to do really, or which way to go. Can anyone suggest anything or know anywhere that can do the research for you? Cheers any help will be appreciated. Kez x

I don't really know the meaning of life. I tend to take life as it comes and deal with whatever it throws at me the best way i can. Life can be short so live it and enjoy it and appreciate everything you have got. Just my thoughts!

Worst injury experience
Shotokan-kez replied to Greek Fighter's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Aww that sounds awful, such a shame for both of you! I have been lucky and not experienced any major injuries. Just a couple of times when i have been kicked in my fingers...wow that hurts. The finger still aches a little now. -
question about punching
Shotokan-kez replied to nystangkid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Whenever i fully extend my arm when punching i always hurt my elbow. But i don't see how keeping a slight bend in your arm when punching can make your punch powerful? -
Ok thread over, you got it!

Hey guys i just wanted to share this with everyone cos im really chuffed. I am the only adult senior grade in our dojo, apart from the sensei's wife on wednesday night. I am grading for shodan in about three months and i have been getting frustrated because there isnt any students i can properly train with, especially fighting wise. Anyway tonight after training the sensei and his wife pulled me over and asked if i would like an extra half an hour every wednesday to go through the grading up until it arrives....here's the best bit....for freeeeeee!! I am so pleased that someone has actually noticed and realised, i really needed this extra training so im very happy...just wanted to share! Kez xx
