What is the name of your town? I could look to see if there are any SCA clubs near you. I'd rather not put that out in public. I'll pm it to ya.Cool.

Best of luck to you! -
That was cool. I really like the TKD tournament stuff. Their kicking power is really very good.

is "Small Dojo, Big Profits" worth purchasing

You can find books like this for many different things. Take it, read it, and take it for what it is worth. -
Take a body mass index reading, and then check it again in 3 months. This will help you to best determine if you are working toward your goal.

The "Get-Up" Exercise for Martial Artists
bushido_man96 replied to Sohan's topic in Health and Fitness
Cool exercise. Thanks for the tip, Sohan! -
The site looks good, but you should check it out anyways, before making any decisions. Vale Tudo would be a good time, I think. As far as tearing up your knee, if it is healed, I don't see why you couldn't do TKD anymore. You just have to know what your limits are, and how far to push yourself. That would go with any art that you study.

red belt problem
bushido_man96 replied to mcmillintkd's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Wash it? Never wash your belts..... While many think that it is traditional to not watch your belt, that just isn't the case. There are threads here and on many boards about belt washing. Most of the impetus for thinking this is the erroneous belief in thinking that belts became black because of lack of washing. If your belt is dirty, stinky, and unsanitary please wash it. There are several reasons: one, the uniform, as we know it, was created by Jigoro Kano, I believe. Therefore, it is not all that old. Thus, the concept of the belt itself cannot be all that old, either. -
Hey, that sounds alright. It doesn't mean that your school is lower grade than others. It is just a difference in how some view what testings are to be about.

Yeah, I just wish my 3rd dan wouldn't be an $800 milestone!

Welcome to the Forums! I think you have an interesting story there, and I can relate to some of what you say. Politics suck, plain and simple. However, the history side of it can be hit or miss. I know some, but not all. However, knowing the history, I feel, makes you a historian, not a Martial Artist. That is just my view on it, though. I like history, so I do a lot of reading on it. I don't retain all of it, but I will look it up! Anyhow, I look forward to reading your correspondence!

Jail House Rock!!
bushido_man96 replied to bushido_man96's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Thanks, everyone, for the advise. I understand what you are saying about the throws and such, ps1, but hey, if we are struggling, and it causes a "fall," then oh well for the bad guy. Most of the time, we do have several of us around, and if someone is in a cell area, and we need to move them out, we will call up several more people to help out. I like your suggestions, elbows_and_knees, and I think I will try to work on them. Thanks again, everyone. If you have any more suggestions, keep them coming. I know of the grab you are describing on the thigh, bearich. We call it a "moose bite." -
Martial Arts V Self Defence

I don't believe that this case holds much water. There are people out there who are naturally aggressive. There are those that are not. The only way to fully develop this ability is to put yourself in situations in which it turns on....i.e., the street fight, the bar fight, or stepping into a full contact ring. Just training at class everyday is not going to develop it. Have you ever heard of adrenale-stess training? -
Find a different path to walk. Or better yet, don't walk any more. At least, not by yourself.

Hmm, it is a little muddy to me. I have trouble figuring out what is going on there. Is the NGB fudging, or Karate England? "Trading insolvently" stumps me.

Does she have a base style, in which she holds rank?

Hello all! I was wondering from the grappling experts what holds and wrist locks, etc, would be the best for me to learn and concentrate on when getting into jail house scraps. In case I have to 'rock' with an inmate, I want to be ready. I have a workout buddy all lined up, so any comments would be appreciated!

I understand, Kerry. I would be upset as well.

We have a Juvenile hall in a town near by. I hear that they can be kind of rough, too.
