  1. See, that is a difference that we have. We don't do the push-ups and sit ups for our testings. There's no set number of push-up's/sit up's we have to do, we just have to do them if we make any mistakes....then redo the kata/technique we messed up. Incidentally, I passed my Shodan test two weeks ago. I can't remember the last time I was that tired. Congratulations!
  2. Nice form.
  3. Our GM has gotten uniforms for us that have our names in Korean on the lapel. He writes them himself, and then has them put on. I think he provides the company with the writing.
  4. Lol, I would have to start over in another style again!!
  5. I think our system has around 20, but I only know up to my rank, which is 13.
  6. That should be fun to watch. I imagine he is working on his stand-up game some right now.
  7. On my duty belt I have a hand-held stunner that puts out 500,000 volts (doesn't shoot; it is a contact device), cuffs, and pepperspray. I could carry an ASP, but I don't have one. I have to certify on everything as well, which is, pretty much, dumb. We have to zap ourselves with the stun gun. However, they issue LEOs guns, but they don't have to shoot themselves with them. Kind of silly. As for the order of usage, when it comes to dealing with inmates, our order is supposed to go zapper, then mace, then physical. Kind of strange, but that is the order I was told. Oh, yeah, we also have a big, clear, riot shield up there, too.
  8. bingo. Contact with the ground is incidental. If we are fighting and you fall, oh well. It's drastically different from striking a person. I definitely agree with you guys about the numbers though - italways makes things easier. Yeah, especially since we aren't allowed to strike at all, except for maybe a shin-kick to the nerve on the outside of the leg (common peroneal?).
  9. Once again, while choke holds are among the most effective techniques in the arsenal, they tend to be disallowed in the law enforcement arena. Actually, I think it may be one I can get away with, if I am attempting to restrain the inmate, and just happen to get him in that position. I may have to do some checking, though.
  10. Training in general won't develop very much killer instinct, when it comes to getting involved on the street. You can drill and train all you want, in any style you want. However, developing the killer instinct is not just going to be a side effect of this training. In order to develop it, you have to create the adrenaline dump affect, and basically make yourself come out of your comfort zone. Competitions can help with this, and the more contact, the better off you will be. Naturally, some people are just meaner than others, and they find it out early on, fighting in school or something like that. I guess I should say that training can help you develop that killer instinct, but it has to be the right kind of training.
  11. Good point. It is important to practice these scenarios with resistance as well.
  12. I never got to see the fight, but I found out that Coleman got beat.
  13. Chuck Norris has been heavily involved in starting up his new World Combat League. In the past, he was involved with his Kick Drugs Out of America Program, and probably still is. As far as seminars go, I am not sure.
  14. I thought he was involved in some seminars, but he may be retired now.
  15. This is about all the MAs in the movie, if that's all you want to see the movie for. That's all you get out of the movie?
  16. I think the question is mixed up here. I read it as thus: Good teacher in a style you don't like, or a style you like with a teacher you don't? You can learn a lot from a good teacher, so I think that I would usually go with the teacher. However, I am used to being restricted to what is offered, so I can work with it, I guess.
  17. I didn't care for the "Death Touch Ninja Guy" at all. And I was not at all pleased with the TKD guy, either. He was quick, but he could have worn a shirt. I did see the other night how they had the TKD guy doing the reaction drill against the dummy, where they flashed the light, and he then did a series of hand and foot techniques. The kicks were to, like, the anlkes. I can kick really fast 2 inches off of the ground, too. Why not take me? Oh, yeah, I know....I sport the keg, not the six pack!
  18. See, that is a difference that we have. We don't do the push-ups and sit ups for our testings.
  19. Yeah, I just wish my 3rd dan wouldn't be an $800 milestone! Ouch $800 I am sorry that seems absolutely crazy. I have not ever charged a testing fee over 1st dan. But if I did it would be minimal. Yeah, I think it is crazy, too. It really makes me kind of sick.
  20. Very cool article. Lots of good information in there, that could be useful to just about anyone.
  21. Anything! Heck, all I have to do is breathe the air, and I get gas!
  22. Good info, there Patrick. I may have to educate myself on money markets. My wife and I will need retirement someday.
  23. I've got a friend who had to shave at 5th grade.
