So far, I have not been disappointed with any of the books. I liked the end, where Sam got hooked up with the Archmaester Marwyn, and the archmaester prepares to leave to find Dany.

That is not as easy as you may think. When there is a shield in the way, you are asking for punishment.

Has anybody tried to sharpen their own sword?

If this is the case, then I think you have a show piece, as opposed to a blade that you could actually use. -
Scernio, What would you do
bushido_man96 replied to Clarence's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
How do you ID the trained ones, and the un-trained ones? If you took a look at me, you would probably think that I was "untrained." Also, assuming that you can take out that many people with one strike per opponent is very dangerous. It does not happen that easy. If it did, then no one would need to do that much trainin, learning how to do one throat strike and one groin strike. -
Bodybuilder vs MA fighter

How much do you think your skill will help you if that juicing bodybuilder decides to punch you in the back of the head as you walk away? -
school owners,managers, and program directors!!
bushido_man96 replied to scad's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Demonstrations are a good way to get noticed. We have done some at the Mall here in town, with decent results. Half-time demos, at high school basketball and football games get you exposed to teenagers as well. Also, see if you can get the local newspaper to do an article for you as well. The public will at least know you are there. -
I did some pull-up exercises today, just to get it started. Man, are my back and arms sore! I did some dead hanging, and then tried to jump up to hang, like Sohan suggested. I couldn't get all the way up to the top, but I hung where I did, and then let myself down slow when I couldn't hold it any more. I also did some assisted reps as well. The only problem I have is dealing with the people that are going to look at me funny as I struggle to not do a pull-up for a while!

another question about belt lol
bushido_man96 replied to nystangkid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
That's just right. You can spend your whole life on martial arts, and even when you die, you haven't learned all you can learn. That is a good point as well. -
Open Tournaments
bushido_man96 replied to Azmyth's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
See if you can find a schedule of events in and around your area. Also, get the rules and regulations for each tournament that you plan to attend, so that you can train accordingly. You may even be able to make some friends with students of the host school, and this would allow you some training advantages. Good luck, and let us know what you get figured out. -
On slow work days, I'm often on here checking for new posts about every hour or so I know on my days off, I spend a lot of time here. Even at work, I get some good time in, too.

You are welcome! I hope your training goes well!

Rank test for next belt (yellow)
bushido_man96 replied to a_ninja's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
After 13 years, I still get nervous at testings. Just practice hard, and lots. You will do fine. As far as the yelling loud being impressive....I don't know. I don't concern myself too much with it. -

Question for ya'll please
bushido_man96 replied to savedbygrace's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think that Sohan and bearich have both made really good points. If you want to take a little longer, ask your instructor to do so. Otherwise, it sounds to me like you have a great school and instructor, and he will know when you are ready. You have also stated that you spend time working out on your own, and this could be something that he is taking into consideration as well. He can probably tell how hard you work. -
Glad to hear it!

Well said, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for all the info everyone. You are very welcome! -

Glad to hear it! Have fun tonight! -
Not to sure. There are so many styles out there. Did you enjoy the class?

I seem to think that some of this stuff was regional. I remember that the first time I drank it was in Colorado. Then it came to the midwest Yeah, they try to test the new stuff regionaly at first, to see if they can get an idea of how it will go over nationally. They hit test markets in populated areas first, I think.

I like Tyrion as well. He is so crafty, and intelligent. Throughout the 4th book, I even started to like Jaime a little as well. I thought that the next book was supposed to be the last, but like I said, it seemed like there was just too much left to clean up. I think in the end, Danaeras and Jon Snow may get hooked up somehow. We will see, though, because I have been wrong about everything else in the book so far! I really thought Rob Stark would last a while, too. I was mad when he died as well.

Do you call it soda, or pop? Where I am from, we call it pop.

In Your Opinion, What is the Most Superior Weapon?
bushido_man96 replied to TigerCrane's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
I didn't particularly enjoy that scene in Fight Science on trying to find the "Ultimate Weapon." I though it was silly, and inconclusive. That, and all they demonstrated was fancy wu-shu type movements, irrelevant to actual combat. Except for maybe Inosanto, who impressed me with the sticks. He said it himself; it isn't the weapon, but the wielder's skill with it. -
Thanks for the link. It seems very informative.
