  1. Looks like a cool idea to me. Caporeia is so much fun to watch, and Tiger/Eddie Gordo was one of my favorite characters from the Tekken series. The only thing I could do without is the "underground fighting" arena idea, but I'll get over it. Since it will be available on the DS, I may have to look into purchasing it. Perhaps it is an idea that they can carry on with other styles as well; a Boxing one would be good, Karate and TKD could work well, too, I think. Loads of possibilities, if they are willing to pursue it.
  2. I think I will watch it, when I have a chance to. I like to see this in the mainstream more. It will allow spectators to get a hold of the fighters that are out there, and not just the ones that fight for the UFC. Hopefully, it will be a good product.
  3. Too bad the story is not a bit more detailed. Its too bad, really. The problem probably came from a lack of experience of the competitors, and possibly from a lack of good officiating. More information would be nice.
  4. My form does not look like the one in the vid posted by Master Steve Colby. I don't dip like that on the scooping blocks, nor do I put so much space between movements. I don't really claim to do the sine wave, unless I use it, and don't know it. And if I don't know it, then it must be just a very little bit that it is used. Thanks for the points, both of you.
  5. I had not heard of it, but it sounds like it might be an interesting read. Thanks for sharing it.
  6. Some of the students in our school use the axe kick, but we are a TKD school, so we see it more often. It can be a good kick for sparring, especially for the tall guys. For self-defense, I think it would have better use against a downed opponent. It could still be risky, though.
  7. Welcome to KF!
  8. Welcome back!
  9. I would like to see it as well. The special effects look great. Hopefully the storyline holds up. It sounds like it is an intro to a series.
  10. I am anxious to see how the portrayal of the grappling arts translates to the big screen. I am really looking forward to it.
  11. Nice. I was always a De La Hoya fan. Unfortunately, I don't get to ever see his fights. The fight wasn't for a title, was it? What was the rank of the opponent?
  12. Man, that's a bummer. I can't offer any of the answers you need, but I wish you a full, quicker recovery.
  13. This style is unfamiliar to me. Could you tell us some more about it?
  14. Congrats! It sounds to me like you did well. You describe it like a double elimination tournament. I like that idea, that way, everyone gets at least two matches.
  15. That is a cool idea. Neat that the certificates are hand written, too.
  16. Welcome back to the Forums! I hope that you are able to find a place to train.
  17. Welcome to KF!
  18. Toughness is often an attribute overlooked. Many times, toughness can overcome skill.
  19. 5-1-08 TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:00. Class was ok tonight. I didn't feel like my basics were that great. At the end, we worked on some sparring drills that were kind of fun.
  20. I didn't realize that hyperextensions would cause problems like that. My bad.
  21. This was exactly what I was thinking. If you are going to try to display your toughness by trying to hurt someone, do it in sparring/kumite. Don't take advantage of someone who is intentionally exposing themselves to you.
  22. Cool. Sounds like someone a guy could learn a lot from.
  23. I will oblige, when I get some time to look at my book again.
  24. Nothing special, really. The belt is given, and acknowledgement is given in class. Hand shaking and congrats happen after class.
