  1. I used to practice Iron Palm for 3 years. You have to be careful you don't practice incorrectly like I did and caused nerve damage.make sure you have someone supervise you who has gone throught the training himself and knows what he's doing.Don't try to learn from a book or video.
  2. I don't believe that northern Mantis has any type chi sao exercises that I know of.Southern Mantis like Juk Lum I know does.Southern Mantis is very Wing Chun like.
  3. Besides Tai Chi can other martial art teacher be found training outside? What are the most popluar styles you've come across?
  4. If you can bring someone who you respect and knows Ju-jitsu and get his opinion. If you don't know anyone look at the class the students see if they look any good.Look at the way they train is it realistic.Ask the teacher to show you a few moves.Test his skill and get a feel for what he can do.Ask him questions related to his art.can he show you an example, does it make sence.

  16. Fut sao means Buddha hand in Cantonese Chinese.Fut Sao Wing Chun Kuen is a lineage of Wing Chun which traces it's orgin to a monk Xu Yun who was the holder of this style. In many ways it the same as Classical Wing Chun in that it looks the same but there is a havy componet of internal training to the style. This style is very soft like tai chi and uses Ying dai Gong as in Tai Chi and many other ideas.
  17. welcome to the KF.Good luck getting your Blue belt.
  18. NO I met from NJ and NY where I'm from.I know a few gracie guys and we sometimes train in the part in NY.He told me they work mostly all ground work and what I've seen so far looks to be true.I'm sure other BJJ can train differently but that's what I've seen so far alone with a bout 10 BJJ guys I've come across. I have not seen any self defense from BJJ so far.its mostly for competition.
  19. sorry to hear this great loss.May he rest in peace.
  20. I've also seen the self defense book by the Gracie's,but I don't believe they really teach.I been to a a gracie and seen a few of it;s students and what they where learning was not stand up fighting at all.It wass all ground work.Perhaps in Brazl they do train that way,but here its all geared for competion.
  21. Greetings empty_hand.....nice to have you here ..

  23. Fighting multi- persons is difficult to win no matter what style you use,but BJJ or a style that fights on the ground is not a good idea.Once your on the ground you may be winning the fight with the guy on the ground but the other guys will be kicking you in the face with their feet.Once on the ground you have no mobility and mobility is what you need most when fighting mult- people. The best thing do do if you can is run away or try to separate the other guys are far aways from each other as possible.
  24. Welcome B..
