  1. !? Well hell man, if you're not flexing your stomache it doesnt take much to hurt you. Why do you think fighters build up their abs!? I understand that some power can be built by whipping your body around, its the same principal that allows randy johnson to throw 90+ mph fastballs. There was one clip in the videos where the guy totally wound up and hit a focus mit in a very similar manner to throwing a baseball. Yea, you can build up a lot of speed there, but so what? Are you going to fight like that? Anyway, if you tell me its on the same power level as an experienced boxer/kickboxer... no way.
  2. Chucks technique is not bad, and is not "apparently" bad either. Its quiet different, because he has become so good at what he does hes somewhat specialized. His hands aren't held as defensively, because his defense is truly a great offense. He'll take a jab to land one, because he hits harder. He'll risk taking one to land one, because his skills are so great that he'll land more than you anyway. Also, lets just face it- some people will always be able to hit harder than others. He is a hard hitter to begin with, and has trained hard to become the hardest hitter he can be.
  3. https://www.bodybuilding.com search and read the forums there, soooo much for you to know.
  4. yea.... no. you want to break a leg? joint locks or weapons like baseball bats or hammers are what you need.
  5. https://www.bodybuilding.com go search and read the forums there about diet, there soooo much to know.
  6. Things change when some guy is throwing a flury of punches and kicks at you like kickboxers do.
  7. Were you flexing your stomache?
  8. fairtex is great. sometimes everlast is, but if you ask me the brands going down... so i double check the stuff first.
  9. Most definitely, blocking is your last resort, slipping and ducking and so on is the best way to deal with any strike headed your way. But when it comes to that "circular vs linear" thing- whether its wax on was off, or painting the fence, if you havent moved away from the punch, its 99% likely to hit you instead of be blocked.
  10. You know, I have to admit I liked some parts of those videos. Like the small space fighting where the guy behind the dest takes the other ones arm out from under him then twists his neck around, or throws his hand into a drawer and closes it... but some of the other stuff in there, particulalry the strikes, are a joke. They flail their hands loosely and hit them with no force whatsoever, wouldnt do a thing to a person in real life. Also, a lot of their gun/knife removal techniques are pretty idealistic looking to me. However, I did like the personal defense one about how to move with a gun if youre the one armed- most of those looked pretty good. Thats my two cents.
  11. You know, I suppose it'd be good to train with a real gun, provided it's unloaded.
  12. Always work your whole body. Unless of course something is bigger in proportion than everything else, then it obviously doesnt need building. That includes legs!
  13. https://www.bodybuilding.com go to the forums in there, do a search, read up.
  14. If you take a good multivitamin, you are covered. GNC has some good ones (hate to say it, not a fan of the store), animal pak has a good one, there are others.... Me personally, I take a lot of crap, but one you cannot get too much of is vit C. its water soluble, so pop as much as you want with water, itll keep you healthy. (anymore than a gram is a total waste at a time though). as for vit e since i saw it up there, its kind of hard, but you can get too much of that since its fat soluble. make sure you dont go over 1000iu a day.
  15. Man, I wish I did... but I don't wanna.... Actually, I don't run outside at all when it's cold, because, without fail, soon as I do I'll get sick. Every time. Drives me insane.
  16. Jumping rope burns more calories than almost any other activity.
  17. Dude youre a firefighter paramedic in shape guy, hell no!!!
  18. Typically I'd say BJJ is the most rounded, most effective art, but if you get a crappy instructor that all goes out the window. The nice thing about the art, though, is that you'll learn some from judo, some from wrestling, and the bjj ground stuff... basically, a good school is a complete package when it comes to submission grappling.
  19. Yea, outside of Thailand, the Netherlands is the place for thai boxing. go figure.
  20. Unfortunately, the human body does not work in the same manner as a towel. I have a very long winded physical/mechanical description of why these whip/snap/whatever puches and kicks do not aquire much power, but that's the subject of an article I was thinking of writing (upon suggestion).
  21. The front foot should always be pointed straight forwards (unless youre doing something) and always aimed at your opponents groin.
  22. Your hips should rotate with nearly every punch you throw. Only practice them as quickly as you can do them correctly. Maybe concentrate on doing the "bug squish" with whichever foot is pivoting.
