  1. It was a joy to watch. Nice movments. I enjoyed the hand speed and control shown too in the one demo. Thanks
  2. I did not know that there were scratch resistant ones like that. Who makes them?
  3. Regarding Mr Norris and the negetive comments about his fighting ability well, Chuck Norris does not need me to stick up for him that's for sure...perhaps your friend's are concerned that you are not taking MA with them in their style with their instructor/s.
  4. Music
  5. I enjoy and like empty handed art whatever it may be whatever it is called however it it defined. Again, sorry for the confusion
  6. I did not know that there was more than one acceptable way. Now I do. Thank you
  7. I believe patusai is saying different paths same goal Yes, forgive the confusion that I caused. Whatever you choose to call it it is enjoyable. Any and all. If I could live forever I would like to spend a lifetime learning each individually.
  8. If I had the same understanding of things that I do now and if I had the money to do it I would train for a few years in Japan directly under a specific master or one if his Godans...if I was lucky enough to be permitted to do so. If I did not have the money (which I probably would not) I would have trained under my intial instructor and trained in Akido and Judo shortly after beginning karate training.
  9. Please contact your instructor and share this with him/her. He can hear from you what you are feeling when you perform it and you can walk through the motions. He/she may see something that may help you. I believe that this would be the best way to accomplish this. Good luck
  10. I seem to recall that back in the day Karate began and ended with respect.
  11. Maybe it's the fresh clean water?? If that is the case...going up there an 8th dan means you come back an 11th dan?
  12. First know yourself, and then know others." -- Gichin Funakoshi
  13. "Movements of the katas should be as effortless as the tides." -- Soke Kubota
  14. "NEVER BRAG ABOUT YOUR SKILLS IN KARATE, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE STRONGER". -- Chotoku Kyan
  15. ??...please explain. I think you mean whatever their name, they are all FIGHTING. Be it TKD, Savate, Shotokan or even learning to defend youself from your father... if it uses empty hands (yes boxing does too) I like it. There are many ways. None is perfect and all are effective in their own way. I like and respect them all. As Kanken Toyama suggested there are no styles only karate.
  16. Oh, Canada! the last place in North America where you can actually drink from a river without getting sick!
  17. That's fine but I am curious as to what you mean by contributing. I am not saying or suggesting that there is anything wrong with this. Contributing (and please understand that I am not suggesting $$ either) can mean so much. Thanks
  18. I am not sure if the brown belt would hold up after all this time. That being said it think that it would depend on a number of things which the potential instructor could fill you in on. The instructor may request that you test to a point to determine the level you are at. I'd look into the different organizations and ask. The best of luck to you
  19. Love cars, Mopar (Challenger T/A - 340 six pak, AAR Cuda, etc), I had a 340 Shaker Cuda in my youth. That was years ago and I can't afford those cars anymore. From what I recall they ran on high octane leaded gas. Not sure how 11 1/2 to 1 ratio would work with unleaded gas anymore.
  20. Getting angry to the point that you mentioned risks putting you in their league. Everyone is intitled to their opinion even if it is wrong. Some people feel that they need to be better than anyone else. They try to blow out everyone else's candles so that their's shines brighter.
