Hey now don't be dissing the celeb mags!! Seriously though I think its up to the individuals to make each relationship work for them. What makes it work is understanding and supporting each others interests. Maybe she is afraid of losing you? Like many have said before me its important to talk. There may be underlying issues you need to resolve

My mum and her partner run our club together. He is 5th Dan, she is 2nd. Causes a bit of aggro at times but they seem to be able to resolve most things. Its always nice to find someone who really "gets" what you do.

Was at an open comp in February which was predominantly Shotokan - the sparring didnt look too great at all. Yes the point system worked well but it was literally about getting one strike in at a time. Was odd

OO thanks for the link. Am also visiting a local Shotokan club next week - I love Shukokai Karate but I am interested in having a go at some other styles. Boxing for me is something I have watched with my dad since I was little, I get so enthralled watching it, and now feel semi-ready to try my hand. Wish me luck!!

I am sad - as a UK viewer I trawl through the web looking for spoilers. Cant wait until its back on E4 here. Am an addict for sure. I also love all the theories that are flying around about whats going on on the island. These enthusiasts should really get a job on the show!!

Exactly the same as us. My mum and her partner run our 4 clubs. My daughter has just started (little yellow belt x) and some of my best friends I met at karate. I even managed to drag along an old school firned who now absolutely loves it.

Am one of those F1 nuts who always watches live. Which many of my friends find slightly disturbing!! Been a good season so far - although its nothing compared to the days of Schumacher v Hakkinen!! True they are not the great Senna but I found that rivalry fantastic viewing

Thats why a lot of relationships happen in the dojo - any person who practises a martial art will probably find in their private life that people either do not get what you do or are bothered by it. There is a lot to be said for finding someone who loves what you do, and is not threatened by it.

Just remember that not all women are like that. Yes we are generally a mixed up, insecure, neurotic bunch but that is generally because we really care about what you guys think of us. Yes I know that sounds messed up. This girl sounds like someone who will stomp on your heart so yes - you have been spared. Pity the next victim!! You will rise above it x

All is never what it seems on Lost - and everything they do is for a reason that we will no doubt find out about several episodes down the line. Lost is a fantastic show - just a shame that here in the UK we are so far behind. Am resisting the temptation to find episodes on the web.....JUST!!

Good for your girlfriend bruceflea!! x I am more than capable of doing normal press ups but not in excess. My post was more a reaction to people competing about doing 150-200 a day. In that respect if that was what was gonna happen each lesson I feel lucky that as a woman I have an alternative.

I do shukokai karate - fabourite kata to do probably Pinan Yondan or Matsukazi. Love watching senior Dan grades perform their kata. Just hope when I get to that level I will be able to do it justice
