Actually, I am not really particular abou MA movies that have flashy moves, air walking or crappy sounds. I have to defend Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon though, and perhaps many asian martial arts flicks. What I look at is the message within the movie (if there is any). You can't expect moviemakers not to exaggerate. After all, that's what makes the movies THE movies. It gives the viewer another reality, sometimes an escape from the realities of this world. If we were looking for real life representaions, then maybe National Geographic should be aired in Movie houses. That's why I always go for the message or theme of an MA movie, not its action, cinematography or martial arts choreography. =) Content first before form.

What's your favorite MA Anime?
Sengra replied to lordtariel's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Naruto Samurai X Hunter X Hunter Pokemon (Hey, nothing can beat Machop!) lol -
In the on going Marvel Civil War, Spidey and Daredevil (not matt murdoch though as he is currently the Kingpin of crimes) are at first on the opposite sides. Spidey became Tony Stark's (Ironman) poster boy and revealed his identity to the public. He was given a suit by stark in exchange, with glide functions, stealthmode and extra appendages. This enabled him to beat the lights out of Patriot and even Captain America himself. Daredevil on the other hand struggled. Cap's team got badly beaten and if it was not for Invisible Woman who turned sides at that moment, many of them would have died at the hands of the cloned Thor.

Ah, what happened to the lawsuit that was filed by Huo's grandson? I think it was a good movie. I was quite interested with the talk between Li (Huo) and the samurai. A bit of historical interest there for me. lol. -
Did you know that.......? (Martial Arts Trivia)
Sengra replied to RichardHangHong's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Ok, here's one. Did you know that Fencing is one of the only four sports that has been present in all of the modern day Olympics? I don't know the other three though. -
hypothetical weapons tournament, what would you use?

Swords. Of all the swords, I am most familiar with the rapier...Speed is the key. Hit the other guy before he hits you.^_^ -
Yeah, I'd go with sticks rather than nunchacks. ^_^
-
I don't know why, but I tend to favor straight swords.

Scary. The first gun (and so far only gun) I've ever fired was an M16 A1 rifle during my ROTC marksmanship training. First time, I was trembling and sweating heavily. I was afraid to make mistakes as it can be fatal (and with members of the army watching) . I remembered my basic training with wooden rifles though, and I drew strenght from that. Thank God, it went well. =)

Why don't you try fencing again..=)..hehe..Also, why don't you give escrima (or arnis as we call it here in the Philippines) a try. Maybe it would help. Just like you, I also want to learn how to use medieval weapons...=)..Maybe someday soon..(ah..dreams). There are still living european masters that teach them right? I haven't actually read the sites mentioned above.

In Your Opinion, What is the Most Superior Weapon?
Sengra replied to TigerCrane's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Finally, I found the time to post after such a long time!! just finished my first sem for the school year (phew!)...and of course, my personal favorite, weapons discussion! =) Ok, to answer the question, I really would favor a sword. For practical purposes though, wooden weapons would be quite useful in situations. As to the question of supperiority, I would agree that it depends on the wielder. -
