  1. it's very possible. he has access to evolved training methods and information, which will be an asset to him. Why does the topic bother you so badly? well, i was just thinking if a 17th century soldier would challenge me in a duel, i could never win...i'm not an olympic fencer though, but i practice fencing...
  2. This question really bothers me...in connection with this topic...can a modernday olypic gold medalist fencer defeat a swordsman, say from the age of Louis XIV?
  3. Nice...^_^...we don't have racoons here though..
  4. Anyone used martial arts to defend yourself from an animal attack, say, an attack from a rabid dog? How did it go?

  7. But many arts use the nunchakus, right?
  8. Hmmm...comparison is irrelevant,as a shark could never live on land but a knight can certainly fight on land, because he has legs and arms, unlike the shark.. . Yes, knights evolved from the cavalry, chevalier, a fact I very well know, as I am a history major. Meaningless?C'mon, why would it be meaningless...You pointed out the french knights being defeated by the English infantry..which battle, Crecy? Poiters?Henry never foresaw the outcomes. He recruited yeomen because they were cheaper. That is why I made it a point to have a knight from the Hundred Years war...just to point out that the knight had experienced the realities of war...Terrain was not level, weather was not good, crowd dynamics was bad(discovery channel)... many factors were involved. I really had this in mind when I posted the question. That's why, no armors, and no horses. Many knights were killed by just falling off their horses duting the arrow showers, and being trampled because of their heavy armors. That is why I eliminated the armor...I hope you understand...I anticipated this... ..but it's alright though...let us just stick to the question...Thank you...

  13. Arnis is one of the words along with Eskrima and Kali to denote weapon based Filipino Martial Arts. I'm surprised you don't know that if you attend an Inosanto lineage school. What does your teacher use to refer to Filipino Martial Arts? I personally never knew what Arnis was up until a few months ago when I heard the term used and looked it up myself. Up until then I always thought that the two terms were Kali and Escrima. There are other threads on arnis though, you can learn from most of them...
  14. I've also heard of Wudan in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon..^_^

  21. A friend asked me once if a medieval knight and a samurai would fight, who would win? Provided with these conditions: both warriors (european knight and samurai) are only wearing undergarments, no armors and mails, no extra clothing. temperature, weather and terrain would not be factor (ideal conditions) the knight would be using a broadsword(his mastery) and the samurai would be using a katana(his mastery). both of them trained since childhood, of the same age, and have been to real wars, let's say, a knight from the hundred years war and a samurai during the monggol invasions (just an example but the point is, both of them have equal experience... ) No handicaps, no sickness, both of them 100% fit no horses, no other weapons, just the broadsword and the katana. no outside help, both of them with high morale, both of them well rested and well fed.(following their native diet) Both bof them have equal desire to kill each other, and oth are not afraid to die. Who would win? I really need opinions...thanks ...no crappy answers please...thank you... hehehehe:lol:
  22. Ninjutsu..wow!!!..my dream martial arts...hehehe..^_^
  23. Hehehe...^_^...So nunchakus could be used using arnis forms?
  24. i'm going to revive this topic..hehehe ...anyway, it's kinda funny how i can really answer this question..that i'm a filipino, and i practice fencing...well actually, arnis and fencing, if used with real weapons could really be deadly...For me, it really depends on the persons involve, say, in a fight...techniques can only get you to a certain level, but in real combat, the thought of death will never leave you, and that will be a factor...a really big factor, i daresay. according to Lt. Spiers Capt) in Band of Brothers: 'the sooner you put it into your head that you are already dead, the sooner you can function as a soldier' (or something like this) Cheers!!!1
