I am a firm believer in the idea that you are as old as you feel. Negative thinking will make you feel much older. We are as old or young as we want to be.

Learn the most about TKD that you can. When the time comes to move, go off to school, etc. you will have options. With that said don't be affraid to buy books and tapes to look into arts but don't think just because you read a book you can learn a art. Reading this site helps a lot as well.

Well my mind is strong enough to block every bad word comming my way. Don't know my hands and feet are.

To become good and understand or attempt to understand a art like Shotokan or the others you talked about its going to take time. There is no quick fix. However if you have been in Thai for some time Im sure you will have very good SD and fighting skills. I don't see the change being as hard as you seem to think it is. I can't speak for the others but Shotokan will drill and drill basics in you at first then we dril and dril kata. If this don't work I sugest staying with Thai and saving up enough money to take both for a month or so and see if you like it.

I don't think I would call it less strength its just know how to grab someone. Has more to do with practice than anything. I can work wrist locks just like snapping my fingers but new students and even older ones have troulbe getting them. Of course some people are dead and they don't hurt as bad but I can get it on them. Like I tell my students. One day it will click. You may be in class or on the tolit but one day ti will make sense and things will quickly start to come to you. I can't place when this happend for me. I am just 24 and know their is MUCH more I need to know. However sometime over the past few years I have underwent this enlightment.

I had a friend I traind with. He was really really good. Best fighter I have ever been arround. He did Gracie Ju-Jitsu trained in Brazil at one of their schools. He had also been doing Tai since he was in grade school. O and he was Marine in the Gulf War. Anyhow he owned a driving range fun park. (golf) Had a mini golf course, driving range, speed boats, go karts, batting cages, etc. Anyhow some guys were drunk and were doing stupid things on the go karts like bumping little kids etc. When his worker tried to get them off the track they cussed him and and tried to fight him. My friend stepped in and asked them to leave and he walked the 3 guys out to the parking lot. He pushed the last guy out the gate. (hand on the shoulder and sort of a one hand shove) When this happend a fight broke out. Now I don't know the details of the fight cause he said it happend so fast he just reacted. However I do know the end results. I know this cause my cousins wife is a Nurse and was working ER that night. She said she thought they had been in a car wreck. One guy had his jaw smashed. She said it was like a bag of water just hanging. He lost several teeth and his mouth had to be wired shut. The second guy had a dislocated shoulder and 2 broke ribs. The third guy had a broke nose. Now my friend was is the right because he was more or less defending his property and his workers and coustomers. However the judge ruled because he was the owner he should have used more restraint. My friend did 6 months in jail for this. He got out a bit early on good behavior. The judge said if it had been at your home that would be fine but because you were the owner you should have shown more control in the situation. I think most would have done what he done but I don't know if we could have done it so well. BTW my friend only had a busted lip. _________________ (General George S. With all that said if this happens in a parking lot or on the street the entire thing changes. First strike becomes an option. However you always have to know where you are and that the same situation in differant locations at differant times can call for differant reactions or actions.

Neither!!!! Anyone can punch or kick but it takes a MAN to walk away. Espically at school. If you throw the first punch your as good as home for a week. Considering the school violence isssue you may be lucky to get that. Back off don't turn your back to them just back off and be cool. NO High School fight is worth anything. Girls and Namecalling big deal.... Like I tell my class Im a 300lbs Albino anda Coach I have been called every name in the book at one time or another. BIG DEAL!!! Sticks and Stone you know...... However if a fight happend this would be my approach. When I walked away I would set him up by turning my back. Be ready to use a hip toss or shoulder throw cause Ill bet money if you walk away and turn you back they will grab your shoulder. Once I had him on the ground I would apply a wrist lock and and talk to him. That way you win no one gets hurt and you don't get in troulbe cause its SD.... However and I stress fighting is NEVER right espically at school.

Being a teacher of karate and also high school history. I know you got to teach your own way. Don't try and do it the same as your teacher unless that is the best way for you. You got to find your own method to get across your point. Being a teacher you got to do the best job you can by the means you can best use your ability. Its good to take ideas and things from others but too many people try and be a carbon copy of someone else. Be yourself and do what you do best. At the end of the day you can look yourself in the miror and know you did it the best you could. When your a teacher the one thing you got to realize is that you are now the boss. If you doubt yourself the class will doubt you. So come off as best you can and the only way to do that is to play to your strength and be honest with them.

Karate Tips I agree with you about fear. That is the one thing we can not simulate in a dojo. I don't care how much you spar in and out of class or even compete. There is no way to ever know how you will react to any given situation. Fear has to be our friend. If we know fear we can talk to it and understand it. The problem is too many people are afraid of fear. Everyone has fear and they are a liar if they say they do not. Hopefully by training hard and understaning events and why things happen you can know fear enough to stop it from interfering in the fight you are about to have. Fear is sort of like getting a phone call while in the bathroom. Just not a good time to talk. LOL......

Yeah I just read your other 2 posts lol. I always am in the yellow stage except for when I am at home. Then if your home alone I guess you sort of go into lime green lol. I feel any good MA should be at yellow all the time. Unless like I said you know troulbe is comming.

Its amazing what you can do with some string and a stick in the ground.

This is what I find so great about atheist. To be an atheist it means you do not believe in any God. Well to believe in no God is the same as believing in a God. We all learn differant from each other so one may work for me and not for you. Weakness of each DS - Runs a lot of people off to harsh NG - No one gets the point about how serious it is. Coach - Just depends they ofter change from NG to DS and people don't know how to take them. Respected - If your not social its hard to keep people arround. I personally try and bring all 4 together. I would say I am more a Coach than any. However durring class and in Football Practice espically I get in the DS mode espically after you screw up over and over and over and over. Take me a while to get to that point but I can. Like someone else siad Im a nice guy before and after class big time joker and I think you have to be respected or nothing will work. To my knowledge I have never lost a student due to the fact they did not like me as a teacher or did not learn from me.
