Well like I always said I don't care what you take or what program you do. If you lift on a regular basis you will see gains. Supplemtns help but they are nto wonder drugs. It still takes hard work.

Welcome glad to have you arround.

You will be fine. Remember these guys have taught for years and understand that people learn at differant speeds. I don't think your Sensei would bering in a Drill Instructor to show you up. Because you are actually a showing of his ability to teach. He may go fast but that is only because his time is money and he wants to give you the most teaching he can in a few hrs. So when he is going fast just do you best and realize that. Good luck I hope you enjoy the training.

If used right it won't hurt you. If used wrong it won't help you. If you use to much at a young age it coudl hurt you liver I heard. However if you use it right as the bottle says you will be fine.

Tito Ortiz.....A real champion or not?
G95champ replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Great Fighters don't mean your a champion. A grat fighter can become champ but that don't mean he is one. Ali talked more trash than anyone but he was respectful to the business. I have yet to see any respect from Ortiz. Winning does not make one a champion. -
Which technique are you struggling with?
G95champ replied to iolair's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well like it or not there are just some things that are hard for some people to do. Now hard work and practice can make you better at them no question but at the same time some pwople physically can't do certin moves. Is that a reason to quit? Na but you must understand your ability. Socrates said, "know thy self." Shakesphere in Hamlet wrote, "To thy own self be true.". So what Im saying is yes things are hard to learn but don't look at your development as you do other class members. There will be soem th ings you learn better and quicker and there are others you won't. Injury, Age, Weight, Height are all things that can hold one back doing certin moves but they can help you do others. So work hard but realize some people are more athletic, flexable, stronger, faster, and things come to them quicker. -
Shotokan can fit about any body style. It has things for big and small men or women.

is teaching your self martial arts imposible?
G95champ replied to fraden2's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I will be the first to say never train yourself. Learing from a quality teacher is always the best. However nothing is impossilbe. Again fighting and MA are differant. -

You can teach yourself to fight it happens all the time. However its not a traditional style of MA. It would be your own style. Somewhere thousands of years ago someone taught themselves and that became the base for the arts we have today. -
agreed

As far as learning MA kids can't. Its way to mental. However they can learn basics and make it more a class that works on basic skills. Then by their early teens you can begin to teach them.

Can you teach yourself to fight? Yes.... Can you teach yourself kata? Yes..... Can you teach yourself to use weapons? Yes.... Can I read a book, watch a film and pass a test on it? Yes... But I you can not teach yourself MA. You can learn techinques. But as some point you have to have interaction be it a training partner or a teacher. BTW if you teach youself HA it is basically your own or a new style IMO. There is no way you can learn Shotokan or TKD or Judo from a book. -
Im all about fighting dirty I teach it every class. Thats all in Shotokan its called 2 finger spear hands, Tiger Claws, Palm to the groin. etc.

Well comon sense will tell you a 300lbs person will have trouble with an art like Capporeia and a skinny person would have a hard time with Sumo. So to say the art don't mean anything is not ture. However the person does make his or her art the art don't make them. As far as athletic ability well not all are created the same those of us with lesser athletic ability have to make up for that with better training and quicker thinking.

This is why you first questions for a new teacher should be... 1. Can I see your certificates? 2. If not who taught you and can you tell me about him? If either question is met with a well or uuuhhh then you know you got a McDojo teacher.

thanks YS We do 2hr classes. The first 10-15mins includes stretching and bowing in. Then I alwasy do a 15min or so basic review. Just a dozen or so movers 10 or 20 times usually just the basic blocks with a combo to get the sweat going. Then the next hour we will do one of the following. More Basics, Kata, SD, Spar, and comb of the 5. Usually only one however. Then for the last half hr or so we will do somethign fun but soemthing that will build speed or power. Like 2 on 1 sparring, bag work, throws, speed drills, breaking (not oftern) weapons (not often), etc. Then we bow out. Thats my basic lesson plan. However lots of times I will get to talking and showing differant things and the middle hr moves in on the fun stuff lol.
