  1. It's ok, Kita. And yes, it's good to hear from you again
  2. Nihanchi and both Bassais. Unfortunately I won't learn Nihanchi till 1st dan, and Bassai till second dan It is fun to watch the BB's do those forms, though.
  3. That's a good question to ask also I didn't think about that. Thanks And yes, I show my bf a lot of what I learn. He blends it into his training at his school. He shows me stuff, too. I'm trying to figure out how a couple gets along in SEPERATE schools, not the same one, but thanks for your answers G95, yea he knows
  4. It's normal when starting out. It happened to me for a while, specially after sparring. I very rarely get them now, except when I do a tourny. Nervous, I guess.
  5. You answered your own question there. He is pretty much the best there, and you had a "lay-off." So don't be so hard on yourself. Just get in there, and train to get better I personally spar black belts on purpose That way I get better than if I spar just color belts. I personally rather spar black belts. They help you as well as you learning "right and wrong." Just my humble opinion, though
  6. Good point, pmh1nic. Good thing it doesn't have a bad affect on my relationship I'm just wondering about others, and why they don't train together. G95, my boyfriends school doesn't let him go to tournies outside of the "schools appointed" tournies, but I'd prolly kick his butt anyways LOL. We are the same rank, but I've been training longer He knows it LOL
  7. LOL I have done that to my boss (not my instructor who is also my boss). She told me to do something and I kihap'ed LOL
  8. Raises her beer and makes a toast with alanseijas and Valithor hehehehehehe .... Ok that was bad. I'll go to the corner and drink my beer LOL. j/k
  9. Don't get discouraged. He is a 2nd dan. I got my butt kicked many times by black belts. Eventhough I was getting whooped, I DON'T back down. I keep coming at them. The fact that you got in there and tried is a big plus You will get better the more you practice
  10. Same here, Kate. My new (well not new now LOL) doesn't give out certs for rank till black belt. So My belts/experience are all I have. So one belt rack is good for me And yes, I'm proud of them since I put a lot of hard work into each one of them (ranks).
  11. I was talking with my instructor yesterday. He was telling me about how and why he runs his school the way he does (since I work there now, he was basically giving me the "low-down" so to speak). But the topic turned towards my boyfriend and I training in two different schools. He told me that there are many couples that do that. There are actually three of us girls in my dojang that have boyfriends/husbands that train at other schools. One reason (there were others, but I'll add those later) he gave was that most couples are in MA's for different reasons, which is true on my part. I'm in it for self defense. My boyfriend is in it basically for fitness and fun. He is at a sport school, and I am at one that does mostly self defense stuff. Is there others on here that have "better-halves" in another school? If so, why? How do you get along, or how do you make home training work? Opinions?
  12. I just have a belt rack for my old TSD belts. BUT I bought decorations (sp?) for it. I bought three patches. One of TSD logo, one of the American flag, and one of the Korean flag. I tacked them on there. It might not be anything special, but it is to me
  13. LOL Patrick. Yea, you're right. It is a small world.
  14. I just learned my next form. Do I remeber it .... NO! LOL. I remember bits and peices of it, but not the whole thing. It's normal to forget something that you have just learned. Specially if you never did it before that. It doesn't really "sink in" till you've done it a few times (for me anyways).
  15. Yes! That's me. How are you? I was wondering how you were doing. We lost contact I did find a school that was similar, so I'm happy now How is your training going? I'm guessing you didn't find an Isshin Ryu dojo? Anyways, feel free to PM me and I'll give you my email again. It's good to talk to you again
  16. Hey! you stole my idea I agree. The faster you go, the better it works
  17. Do I know you? I knew a Kita (she moved ) here in NY. Just wondering if you are the same person. If you are, it's great to hear from you again Welcome to KF
  18. My instructor sells stuff at the dojang, BUT we don't have to get it there. He said if we can find a better price, go for it. Me, being a "frugle" (sp?) shopper, I can usually find good prices
  19. Thanks, kchenault And your welcome. Now I know I'm not alone
  20. Me, too shazaam. I learned some Hapkido with TSD, and I enjoyed it
