  1. Being in constant pain must be just awful. Makes everything else sound trivial. Heart goes out to you. Thanks. Yea it's tough. But some days are worse than others. I'm back on Lyrica, so that should help. My dojo got flooded again, so there may not be class on Saturday. Ninjanurse, is there class Saturday?
  2. My biggest issue has been my fibro. The cold is really getting to me. I'm in pain 24-7. Just saw the doc to get a different med so I can, at least, do my job comfortably, let alone MA. The weather has also been an issue. My dojo is an hour away and we had storm after storm (snow). I'm hoping to go tomorrow, but it all depends on these two issues.
  3. Great! I've been in and out, but I believe this is the best forum for martial arts out there.
  4. You hit the on the head with that one ma'am (ninjanurse). I agree. I switched from TSD to TKD. I did find some things similar, but also some stuff was a bit different. Heidi is now my instructor in TKD. I love the way she mixes styles. TKD being the big part of it, but we also learn karate kata and Jujitsu in TKD classes. There is also Jujistu taught in separate classes. I love it. I used to be big into competing. But not so much anymore. I learn martial arts for self defense and to do something fun for fitness (instead of the same boring stuff LOL) mainly, so I would be the wrong person to get advice about competing.
  5. bushido!!!!! I remember you. How are ya? And thanks
  6. Maybe subconsciously I could be asking that, you're right. But I didn't think of it that way. I told ninjanurse and hubby that I will take jj when they do something I think it will be cool with my body. If not, I'll just take TKD. So yea, good point.
  7. Both of the MAs I'm taking are at the same dojo and taught by a husband and wife team. My TKD instructor is on here (ninjanurse). And her husband teaches jj. Ninjanurse and l also take jj together. Very unique situation but it works fine for them and me. I just wanted to know if KF folks would do it if it were in different dojos.
  8. I'm currently doing two martial arts (TKD and traditional Jujitsu). JJ, I do not want rank in. One, it's hard on my body (I have Fibro). Two, it is mixed in with TKD (just the way my instructor as it set) anyway. Would any of you do this ... rank in one art, but not the other? For the record, both my instructors don't mind at all.
  9. LOL Mrs. Wilmott (ninjanurse). I did that yesterday hehehe. Bows. How are ya ma'am? Thanks wagnerk.
  10. OMG Hey sensei. How are you? Long time no chat. Thanks
  11. Hiya all. Been a long time. Hi Patrick I'm back Thanks to ninjanurse, who is now my instructor. How are ya ma'am (bows). Gotta go browse the forum to see who I know and to meet new folks. Look forward to hanging out with you guys again
  12. Congrads Heidi! Miss ya, girl. I saw ya at Wegmans, but it was for a short time. PM me on Facebook when ya want to get together. Miss you
  13. I used to love breaking. I'm on a temporary hiatus from MA. But I have done lots of breaks. My favs .... (1) the ridgehand. Only because I hardly ever see females do them while breaking. I almost always do them in tournies, and complete the break (with one or two boards). Another is a (2) standing front leg hook kick (standing still, bring my leg up slow, bring my heal three inches from the board and break it from there). I saw my old instructor do the same thing with a punch (it totally seemed like slow motion! It was the coolest thing). I have done it with one and two boards (I did the two board thing for a test and blew them away ... Yay!). (3) I love the speed punch. I got my old dojang memebrs to start doing them. You basically hold the board yourself, drop it, and punch it (and, hopefully, break it). There's others, but I just got off work and my brain is mush. I'll post more later.
  14. Eventhough I'm on the MA temporary hiatus wagon, I'd like to train in Hapkido or traditional jujitsu. I trained in small circle jujitsu (or an off-shoot), and that was mad fun. Nasty stuff (in a good self defence way).
  15. I drive a mini van ... so un-cool, but practical. Well, I do like it, so It gets me to work, home, shopping, snowboarding .... so I'm totally happy
  16. Um. I don't train there anymore. The instructor had a ego. I came from two schools (one was TSD one TKD) that the instructors HATED to be called master, for intance, but this guy was a freak about it. Hello? Ok, I usually do it outta respect, but if I forgot, I'd get reemed for it ... what the hell .... That was just one reason I quit ...... Many more ....
  17. Good one. I agree with that after sunday LOL. Anyways, I wanna get my flexiblilty back, and to get into MA again period. Heidi, any ideas (minus KWC)? I also want to get my BB. I've (or ... was) training for 7 years. Never got it. BUT I want a group of people that are special to me to test me. One is a 5th dan, one is a 3rd dan, and one is a 2nd dan. Two different styles to boot. That would be ... um hell .... but fun. Hopefully by next year.
  18. But you are awsome at all of them! See ya sunday on the slopes! I can add to my list. I still have the one job, but I feel like I have a lot more. I'm training on newer gadgets (machines ... see my new screen name) and I'm training people on older ones just because of my experience. Fun fun ... I'm getting OT again, though. This weeks paycheck was SWEET! I spent money On ME for my birthday (dang, I sound greety hehehehehe).
  19. I'm totally getting one with my tax refund. I want guitar hereo with it though. We've been talking about it at work, and everyone has one. I'm Jealous LOL
  20. I worked two jobs. It was horrible on my body. I worked in a machine shop (like I do now) with a part time job at a gas station. The first job took it (energy) right out of me, then I worked at night .... eeeekkkk. One job is plenty for me.
