I don't think its a Martial Arts weapon, but...
Pacificshore replied to Immolation's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
If a boxer can punch another boxer's lights out and accidently kill him in the process, then a sap constucted out of led and leather can do the same. All it takes is one good shot to the head to cause all kinds of trauma. -
Another way is to have it laminated, that way it saves the paper from discoloration over time.

Hi

nothing wrong with a tattoo, but if it pretains to martial arts, have it done somewhere it's not readily noticed....why spoil the element of surprise .

From what you have described, I'd say that it was indeed a carotid restraint hold. It's is the only way I know of to put someone out without causing any unnecessary harm. However, your uncle must have had massive size hands, or yur nephew a skinny neck to be put out with one hand . Usually when applying the carotid, you use the bicep part or your arm along one side of the carotid, and the forearm on the otherside without placing any pressure along the front of the throat. With even the minimal amount of pressure you can make someone go to sleep .

Want to learn Aiki-Jutsu
Pacificshore replied to Level One's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
level one, if you are looking for aikijujitsu in new york, i know of 2 senseis that teach it somewhwere there. they are miguel ibarra and roy goldberg. i know this because i attended a seminar several years back with sensei bernie lau, who had trained with these two. i have a video tape with them training, and both ibarra and goldberg are excellent instructors. ibarra is hardcore in the video. i know he had some videos made by panther. try looking them up on the web to see where they are teaching. sorry i can't provide one. -
hello and welcome to the forum. my initial thoughts were to look into any form of okinawan or japanese form of karate. example, goju-ryu or shotokan, both very powerful although there are soft elements to goju. the old adage was that it was made for a person with short stature. obviously if you look into those 2 styles, you'll see folks of all size and shapes. then if you have a wrestling background, maybe a form of jujitsu or judo is what you want. if flexibility is an issue, or the amount that you will have, then i personally would try to avoid any style that emphasizes high kicks or very low stances, at least when starting out. after awhile of training, you may find certain arts that fit you the best, or serves your purpose. shop around and make sure to ask questions, but most importantly make sure you find a good instructor. good luck.

it helps with the rotation of the punch, plus it teaches you to keep your weapons close to your body instead of dangling your arms about. Same concept for tucking your thumb in when doing a shuto strike

Unfortunately I've never heard of either systems of Kenpo or their founders. There are so many different variations of Kenpo perhaps the best thing is to find out what the founder(s) base Kenpo style was.

If it turns into a slugfest then I give Tyson the edge. But if Sapp improves his skills by the time of the fight, then he can probably pull it out. Tyson has 2 weapons, his hands.....maybe his mouth if he chooses to use it . Sapp should have 4 weapons, his hands and feet . If Tyson can counter all 4 then he can fair well, but this is K-1, so unless he gets lesser fighters other than the top draws, don't see him lasting long, cuz you know they'll just take his legs from him .
