well if you want a better grip,I've read that if u hold a dumbell palms up with your arm in a 90 degree angle and hold it for a while your hand will tighten. This makes your grip get stronger.

why everyone hates Taekwondo
Goju_boi replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
a) kicks are much more effective than punches because they have a longer reach than your arms and utilize some of the largest muscles in your body... as long as you know when to use them. b) high kicks? heh... that belongs to what we call "demonstrations," my friend. and besides, drilling the kicks high is better for exercise-- if you can do them high, you can do them low. because people have seen the usefulness of mixing a striking art with a grappling one. tkd/(h)a(p)kido combination dojangs are very common. as a matter of fact, i was learning hapkido right before i quit tkd. i wouldnt say kicks are more effective than punches, they are great don't get me wrong, but it depends on the range youre fighting from.So if high kicks are for demonstrations and exercise only does that mean that when you spar do u kick only as high as chest and stomach level? Also isn't hapkido also a striking art? -
thanx for the info.is there anything else on latin american martial arts?I would really like to hear on fighting arts of mexico or central america
-
well i had originally singed up for kung fu but was ripped off at a mcdojo.then i looked around found a goju ryu dojo,so l looked up the style and became interested in it because of it's strong kung fu influence. Also it looked pretty legit and it's kinda close to my house.

What is Wing Tsun?
Goju_boi replied to TKDguy's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
wing chun is great.but it's very different than other chinese arts ,because it's more linnear as opposed to circular,it's very simple and time efficient,it doesnt have animal forms,it doesnt have a lot of weapons. -
I want to know if there are any latin american martial arts.I know theres capoeira and bjj,but these have influnces from other countries.Anyways I want to know if there are any arts whatsoever to come from this part of the world?I would think there is with all the spaniards invading, they must of had a way to defend themselves some how.

Chi kung?
Goju_boi replied to Goju_boi's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
this might sound kind of silly, but his life story sounds like a good movie to make. You should find some way of getting it made. And get Jet Li or Donnie Yen to have the lead role -

very intresting style and history (especially sifu's history) -
yeah both do percive my opinions and comments as biased especially the male, but I'm just telling them what I see.I'm not trying to take sides it's just that there are things happening that shouldn't be happening from both ends.I guess something that makes it worse is that men from Latin America sometimes tend to be "macho men"/Manly men so I think that might make him be worse,I don't think either one should go through each others torment. I guess once I get a car I can go and get them refferals,or go to my church and ask for help
