  1. I don't know much about sambo , but from what i've heard it's very similar to BJJ , and it's rooted in kodokan judo just like BJJ , so why would it be the next thing to look for ( I am asking not arguing )??
  2. Is it called shoto ??? Well it might work , but why risk it , if you are going to sneak attack him , use a weapon or simply brake his neck
  3. Your cup is full. He can remove those unusefull & unrealistic techniques "from his cup" and replace them with more practical techniques -extracted from katas if you want - , or just stress the existing practical techniques such as punches , low kicks , shoto , etc....... My advise to you is : put more power on your techniques , forget about those snap kicks and don't train for point sparring //* don't pull back your strikes * // , there is nothing wrong in exploring other martial systems such as JJJ or judo , you may learn a lot from other martial arts schools . You can always visit kyokushin dojos and apply their training METHODS on your existing techniques OSU
  4. Let me point out that kyokushin is NOT a shotokan offshoot
  5. COOL :)
  6. The grappler would win 99 out of 100 , while it takes a boxer hundreds of punches to knock down his opponent , it's enough for a grappler to lock or chock his opponent and the rest is history , beside , every boxing fight that I have seen usually ends in a clinch , obviously , a clinch is the perfect position for a grappler ,& it's usually easy for the grappler to take the fight to the ground & disarm the boxer from his weapon .
  7. Too bad , it's a big loss to the karate world .
  8. Touching
  9. congratulations then , was it hard ?
  10. Very good article
  11. I'll second that , kyokushin is great for infighting ( closed areas) , kyokushin contain self defense against weapons techniques , kyokushin was developed with street fight in mind and kyokushin is good against multiple opponents , that's what kyokushin offers , it's up to you to train hard and to maintain your nerves in real confrontation .
  12. What karate style ?? If it's a traditional point sparring karate system , it won't help you with your MMA quest

  20. Seems like you enjoy teaching in general Good luck in that
  21. We have been taught to keep a tight fist all the times so I voted for the first option , however , sometimes while sparring you just can't keep your fist tight all the times , especially if you want to grab or to defend , therefor , sometiomes I only close my fist b4 the impact and that made me suffer from wrist injuries
  22. And since we study it , I guess we do practice a combative style - very combative as a matter of fact -
