  1. Don't worry, I have a very protective father. If he has his way, I'll never drive
  2. Are you trying to say you don't understand that joke?
  3. As of today I'm 16 years old!!!
  4. Awww wish I had known...maybe next year.
  5. Yay! That's good to hear that she's doing well. Today I officially became a taxpayer... I guess I always have been, but this year Dad made me pay for it. The entire dollar!! That's right, I paid $1 in taxes. And I wrote a check for it too I wonder if I can get a 75-cent tax return?
  6. True true...the Rocky movies are classic. How could I forget them??? They are incredibly corny at times though.
  7. I read about another one that was really bad...it was something like "Let us back to base and our ammo replenish" ... really terrible. Also on the gameboy color version of Metal Gear Solid, they say something about "you must think outside of the square" ....
  8. The official count from Word is 1344 words. But that includes some BBcode I used for formatting. So in the 1300 range.
  9. Keep it respectful guys...if you don't agree with somebody's opinion just say so, but take a deep breath before you respond. Keep your temper out of it As for my opinion: I'm sure that boxing is a great art and is effective just like any other combative art or style that does sparring. It has its own set of strengths and weaknesses and compensates for them, just like any other style does/should do. However, how many of us non-boxers have ever gotten the chance to fight someone with boxing experience? I certainly never have. Therefore I cannot make any sort of assumption as to whether or not I could beat up a boxer, or vice versa. When I say this, I of course mean a boxer of my same height and weight, giving an equal playing field as martial artists. If the guy was 6'6, 280 lbs. I would cry and run away, hoping he's not a track star, too
  10. I removed the direspectful post since that constituted style bashing. However, kchenault's advice still stands
  11. For our American members, today is Tax Day!! The day when Uncle Sam keeps post offices in Harrisburg open 'til Midnight So how do you guys do your taxes? Do you do them yourself or take them to H&R Block? Do you get them done early or do you wait until the very last minute? I'm still a kid so I don't have to worry about taxes, my Dad does them. He does them himself and is a last minute person. I remember what last year was like....he literally sealed the envelope ten minutes before the post office closed, and then made me ride with him so he could keep the engine running while I ran as fast as I could to the window before they closed. We actually had to go to the post office in the next town over because it stayed open for half an hour longer than our local one Anybody have any interesting tax day stories? Maybe our international members can share their tax experiences too. Feel free to vent and use the little flamey emoticons
  12. Right now I'm 100% dojo. Last summer I was 50/50 with dojo/gym and I loved it!! But during the school year I just don't have time to hit the gym.
  13. One beautiful Sunday morning a priest desperately wanted to go golfing, but he couldn't exactly miss Sunday Service just to golf. So, he decided to lie and call in sick to the church. So the priest went to the golf course on that beautiful Sunday morning, and enjoyed himself by playing a good first few holes. Then on the 6th tee par 3, he swung and...HOLE IN ONE!!! He couldn't believe it!! He was hopping up and down in joy, when suddenly a beautiful light came shining down from the heavens. It was God, and the priest said to God "I got a hole in one! Thank You thank You thank You!!!!" And God said: "Great, now who you gonna tell?" * as a side note I wasn't really sure whether or not I should capitalize You so I did just to be safe
  14. To be honest, I don't think we have a lot of people on this site who do traditional boxing. Therefore the style doesn't have a lot of representation. Perhaps you can help contribute to the representation of the style, just as long as it's in a respectful manner
  15. Hey could you give us some information on how to register in that? Maybe I could get my dojo to go Is there a website or anything? Thanks
  16. Think Tai Chi could never be a competition sport? Think again: http://www.ilram.com/M_taichimasters_temp.html
  17. I've always wondered about that!!
  18. Varsity Blues, Remember the Titans, Rudy and Little Giants were all good football movies. I hate the Mighty Ducks movies now. Nowhere, Alaska is pretty good. Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore are awesome My favorite MA movies are the funny ones, basically because the serious ones are so corny that they're funny anyway. At least the funny movies are actually trying to be funny. With that in mind, my fave MA movies are any Jackie Chan movie ever...even his serious ones were ok. Fave Jackie Chan movie would have to be either Rumble in the Bronx or Mr. Nice Guy. I'm not a big fan of Chuck Norris, Jean Claude van Damme, Jet Li or Steven Segal. It's gotta be Jackie all the way My favorite baseball movie is A League of Their Own...I've always loved that movie. Close runners-up are: Field of Dreams and Sandlot.
  19. Well, you've always been welcome, even before your intro but ... welcome! My dad, brother and I all started tae kwon do classes at the same time. My dad had to drop out do to some arthritis problems in his toes. My brother and I stuck with it though, and tested (and passed!) for our black belts together. Brother-and-sister teams are fairly rare in our dojo, but to join at the same time and stay together in the ranks is a true anomaly. Guess we just had to be special
  20. There's already a thread going about this subject, if you would like to continue the discussion there. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=6440 Thanks
  21. Good job everyone! Heyyy the voting deadline is my birthday!
  22. Withers: there's an Article of the Year contest, too, when we do the KarateForums.com Awards.
  23. Welcome to the forums, Kamidake! Hopefully we can answer some of your more complex questions as well
  24. Sai: Jake and I came up with the whole stuffed duck thing together, so yes Also, benedictbm is one of the founders of the Ducky Four+. Therefore we have 3/4 of the founders on karateforums...we're trying to get Jason, the fourth on, but he's not online much.
  25. I have a bruise on my left bicep that looks like a tattoo...does that count? There are some cool tattoos, but I wouldn't want them on me. They go against my beliefs...and my parents What I don't understand is when Christians get tattoos of crosses and religious stuff...that kinda defeats the purpose! The only tattoos I would get are the rub-on kind My instructor ordered some from the Century catalog, and put one of them around my ankle like a bracelet. Needless to say, my mom was pretty freaked when I came home with a "tattoo" I was surprised at how realistic the tattoos were.
