  1. Woo! Thanks for the update!
  2. X-Men and Spiderman were classics. So much better than the stupid Power Rangers! Anyway...to an 8-year-old (or however old I was), the show was pretty cool. Right up there with Ninja Turtles.
  3. I can do two-fingerpad pushups.... but I almost broke my finger when I tried 1-finger
  4. I miss the Fox cartoon so bad! It's really kinda sad... on my part, that is
  5. Well, I went to the DMV today and took my Knowledge test. I messed up the question about the maximum distance you can park from the curb...but that was it!!! I passed! I was kind of freaked out before I took the test...there were two teenagers who took it before me, and they both failed. I wasn't nervous beforehand, but once I sat in that chair, my heart started racing! But it all turned out OK If all goes well, I can test for my license November 8th WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!
  6. They've obviously set it up for X-Men 3. You have the introduction of a new X-Man (Nightcrawler) another two waiting to graduate (Rogue & Iceman), the um... ending, plus the hinting at Gambit and Beast at points in the movie. (Gambit's real name flashes on a computer sreen during the movie, and Beast--Dr. Such-and-such-- is on the news in a bar, talking about mutants. Oh, and I agree with Wolverine being too tall. In the comics he was always hunched over looking like the hunchback of notre dame or something. But then again, you can't really make Hugh Jackman shorter (not that it's a really huge problem anyway). And to hunch him over for two movies...would ruin the whole cinematic feel. I think the makers of these movies were trying to make movies about comic books, without the movies FEELING like comics.
  7. Getting too heated, defensive, and wayyyyy off-topic.
  8. Math in martial arts??? I suppose there's angles involved in joint locks...you can't just pull in any direction, it has to be specific. I guess you have speed equations too (If a train is leaving Boston at 10 a.m....) during sparring. The speed of one fighter vs. another could be worked out to see whose kick will land first. During tournament sparring, there's good ol' addition (subtraction too if you're a bad bad boy and kick your partner below the belt) That's all I can think of for now.
  9. Started at 12 now 16
  10. Welcome to the forums!
  11. Once I've stretched out for a bit, I can do splits. It depends on how tight/sore I am. Three years ago, I used to be able to do a split, cold (no stretching beforehand). Since then, I started MA and built some muscle. My joints aren't so loosey-goosey anymore
  12. I don't think there's any way to completely elminate the nerves that go with a black belt test. When I tested for mine, I was very nervous...it was going to be a big test (6 other students testing with me, and several blackbelts from outside of our dojo came to spar us), and I had my doubts about myself. Most of them left my mind once the testing began, though, and I fell into the rhythm of things. However, if she's THAT nervous, her nerves could get in the way of properly training for the next 6 months. Try to encourage her and stroke her ego a little bit. Tell her about her strengths and the things she's good at. To disguise the fact that it's a pep talk, tell her about a few minor things she could fix...but end the conversation with some points of encouragement. Relate your testing experience to her. Remind her of how many people have tested and passed for black belt...sometimes a little "if they can do it, you can" helps. Someone (whether it's you, a sensei or a friend of hers) could offer to help her train for the next 6 months. Whether it's necessary or not, it can make her feel like she's doing something positive towards her test, making some progress.
  13. Do lots of roundhouse kicks without setting it down, alternating between rapid-fire (about 20 or 30 as fast as you can) and slow-motion (tensing muscles and holding the kick once it's fully extended). The higher you kick during these drills, the more pressure you're putting on your leg muscles. Expect to be sore for the next two days or so. Holding on to a chair can be helpful for this.
  14. Do you see women walking around scratching at their legs all the time? It doesn't itch a bit
  15. I think you did the right thing. Considering your situation, and location...you have no idea how many of his buddies were around and could have "helped out". If I were you, I hope I would've done the same thing. If the bouncers hadn't have thrown you guys out, the guy might have kept going. If that happened, I probably would've kneed him in the nuts, since that would end the fight pretty quickly. I don't know how the legal system works in Norway, but I think you might've gotten in trouble if you bloodied him too bad.
  16. Well, I never read the comics, I just watched the Fox Cartoon when I was...smaller. (can't say "little" 'cause I'm little now! ) But I always thought Rogue had red hair with the white stripe..? I really liked the movie...but I'm not that hard to please when it comes to movies I can't think of anyone better to play Storm or Wolverine. However, I would like to take this time to say: Cyclops is such a whiner.
  17. How can I say this without sounding vain...? Our demo team hands out 2-week-free passes to the audience after we do demonstrations. On several occasions, I've had guys come up to me and say "You're hot!" and "You can fight me anytime!" and similar things. Of course, it's always nice to have my friends back me up ("She'll kick the [insert expletive here] out of you!!") So I guess yeah, they do.
  18. Try some Windex! (Sorry, I just saw Big Fat Greek Wedding yesterday.... good movie!)
  19. I'm guessing you're on lots of Motrin and ice for that, ZR440?
  20. Pretty impressive filmwork!! What music did you use?
  21. Well, in the movie....I don't think she's a cyborg. I have my reasons but I don't want to spoil the movie for everyone. And that's not a cop-out
  22. Congratulations Ken! Thanks for letting me play, Patrick...I was amazed that I made it as far as I did Thanks to all who voted for me Congrats again!
  23. Please tell me you went to see a doctor. Knee problems can be very serious...torn ACL's and whatnot. Trying to wait it out and let it heal could be very dangerous...you risk re-injuring it again, which could lead to more permanent damage. The sooner you see a doctor, the better.
  24. I just got back from seeing X-2. Very nice! And yes, Wolverine can die. It just takes a lot. A lot.
  25. Street Fighter Alpha 3 is better than Marvel Vs. Capcom...combos are too easy in the latter Those games are great for fun, but are hardly ever realistic. A lot of the time, different characters will have blended styles, so no one style is ever "true".
