  1. I'm 5' 9", 175 lbs. athletic, I guess. I'm better than most the frosh girlies.
  2. TKD more lethal than karate? Kinda crazy. Depends on how you were taught. I'm trained to kill, dunno about anyone else. TKD could be taught the same way. I'd choose my karate though, because it means no crazy kicks that make me lose my foundation.
  3. Yeah. Best idea though, is to follow the 4 pt code. Avoide Evade Escape Attack Sensei says there's a good reason attack is last. I'd have to agree.
  4. Lol. I need to show this to my friends, they'll laugh so very hard. The thought going through my head was "What person is bored enough and lives with a monkey and teaches it TKD?"
  5. My dojo's great. Sure, there's people I'd rather stay far, far away from, but there's people like that everywhere. Sensei is a good teacher, he knows what he's talking about and can show us all. He's not always terribly patient, but he usually is.
  6. Not really. It's a very strict, old style (henceforth me getting kicked, though that's not technically allowed as punishment). It's not a bad style, though. Just some of the people in it could have traits that are a little more desirable...Actually, orders, commands, requests, whatever you wish to call them, I don't think is the real problem. The mindset required for me to do whatever task it be is the problem, because I think too much. I know it, too. Just some of the people, and the way you can get talked down to is very hard to put up with.
  7. I agree completely. I would sooner die than be slave or servant to anyone. I have an ego and hero complex, leave me alone.
  8. Eugu-Ryu: Eugue-Ryu (I'm just going by what I remember Sensei saying, excuse me if I get things wrong) is based off of much of what the Samurai were taught. Like, since the Samurai wore armour, they had to keep their bodies with their head over their neck over their torso over their hips, or they would be like a turtle stuck on it's back. We're taught different grips, and how to massage each other after the mroe hardcore lessons where we hurt each other. But our school is also integrated, so we learn a lot of styles. I know there's judo, jujutsu, ummm...a lot of styles I have yet to identify....we do a lot of grappling, and work on getting up correctly. And breakfalls. (I HATE BREAKFALLS!) Lesse....in the advanced class we have weapons work, and I don't have a clue how many katas there are, but there's a lot. It's a really indepth style, Sensei gives us a lot of history, it's fascinating.
  9. Our Sensei has a minimum of age six, but most the little ones in our class can't concentrate. I'd say about 8 or 9 is when they start getting serious enough to pay attention and learn things effectively.
  10. I'm from America, ruled by King George Bush II. (If you can't tell, I'm a democrat.)
  11. I'd have to agree. If we did that around my Sensei, whoever did it would be doing push-ups for quite a while.
  12. I doubt it would sit well with my Sensei either, he yells at us if we aren't sweating enough and claim we're working "hard".
  13. He is second in command, in the kiddo's class, and when the adult black belt isn't around...Nobody tells on anybody in our school. Dunno why. We don't lie, either. If anybody's looked at some of my posts, mine are things about orders, pain, and etiquette. I'm trying to find out what I can and can't do, without screwing up in class. I don't want to ask Sensei. We're supposed to just pay attention and learn that way. It's a very old school sort of deal. As in, we're being taught stuff the samurai were to know. It's hard work, and there's an atmosphere that says we are all comfortable there. I'm not always sure, though. My friend, the green belt, and I almost always work together. He's not there this month, henceforth my working with the sankyu. Hai, I learned what I was to learn, and could do it now with perfect accuracy, but it hurt to be learning. The sankyu-okay, I give up, that's confusing me. Craig. Craig teaches by pain. My friend had to learn with him a lot of the time, and he knows it. Sensei knows Craig abuses his power, henceforth the reason Craig is always the gineua pig. It was funny to see him get choked by Sensei, to me, because I dislike being kicked when I do wrong.
  14. I'm 14. And I don't think it's Sensei who gave the order. I personally think that the person who "passed on" the order is telling the truth. He's a sankyu, soon to be nikyu, if you see my sig the quotes are from him. the sankyu is well known as someone you generally wish to avoid. I know my first impression of me doing everything within my power to stay out of his sight for 4 months. Then he took two months off. This is the first month I have to deal with him again. I can't say I know what to do about it. Yeah, I listen, I obey if I see it's appropriate to do so. But I think, personally, that everything is revolving around the sankyu. There's a lot that goes on under what everyone normally sees, I've picked up on that several times. But I don't know what to do about it. My friend feels his rank is threatened. I refuse to break, for anything (though after one class I might very well have, if I weren't so stubborn). I don't want my friend to possibly have his rank hurt. He showed me what to do and helped keep me out of trouble when I first joined. On the other hand, I don't wish to go through any sort of punishment with the sankyu. I've partnered with him once, and that was bad enough. My wrist hurt for a week, I'm not eager for anything else. Anybody got any ideas?
  15. Ah...well, I'm apparently the lowest ranked person here....Oh well. I started karate seriously only 7 months ago. I've learned an absolute ton, every class I walk away wtih something (either some sort of knowledge, or some sort of ache, depends on the day) I started for no better reason than one of my friends was in it, I used to be, and I was interested. Besides, more time to spend with a friend, he'd tell me what to do if I was screwing up. So far, I love it. I can't stand to miss even one class, and beg any friend I have that goes to it to give me a ride if my mom can't manage it. I usually get to go, too. I picked my school because it's the only one really in our area, and besides, Sensei's awesome! He's trained in tons of different styles, and teaches us how to react againt people in different styles. It's amazing. And now, I'm going to get ready to go back to class.
  16. I really seriously started 2004. Mostly cause I was terrified of the seniors.
  17. My friend would only get in trouble if I told. Ah well, I guess I give, nobody here knows who I am...if they do, I'm screwed, but oh well. The situation is, is my friend can't get his purple belt until he gets several students under control. Gets them to be able to follow orders without complaint or hesitation. He's gotten everyone of them to do just that-except me. I'm very stubborn, I've never followed orders well. So, he still can't get his next belt. All because apparently, I don't follow orders well, even when I think I'm following them. I kinda should know that, because I do take things literally, but...that's not the point. The point is, is I was sworn to secrecy, because he wasn't supposed to let anyone know. He slipped up today when he lost his temper, and I bugged him (of course) until I got an answer.
  18. Okay, another one of my odd and end topics here. Are there any requirements to become a higher rank that aren't told to the lower belts until necessary?
  19. Find a new school? Out here in the middle of nowhere? I think ours just about is the ONLY school. *shrugs* But I haven't got much choice, not really. I got a bit more info on what's going on. I see now, though I'm under my own honor not to tell. It affects more than just me, I'll leave it at that.
  20. Mostly, the things in the dojo don't get to me. You do them, you don't stop to think. It's when I'm outside the dojo, with people from the dojo deciding they can still order me about. I've mentioned my gokyu friend, I'm somehow still able to be ordered about outside the dojo, on the threat of being handed over to the punisher I dislike the most.
  21. Ummm...Kieran, a name I use for what I call me "demon half" (meaning I"m trying to get out of trouble) and Lilith as my last name on an RP site. It literally means, "little dark one of the night". Usually, my friends just call me weirdo, or mindreader, or, in my friend who goes to karate with me's case "Listen to me already, you insolent little yellow belt!!!"
  22. I'm sorry if I sounded like a whiny little brat to anyone. I'm just used to doing whatever I want. I guess part of the problem is my friend taking it out of the dojo, but he's probably right that I'll never get anywhere if I don't get some sort of ordering structure at all times, simply because of what I'm like and who I am. I'm too independent, and if I'm away from what I'm supposed to be doing, and allowed to have my own thoughts start working again, I kinda really start doing the opposite of what's wanted.
  23. MMA I've tried. I disliked the instructor immensely. Thankfully, no twelve year old shrimp can be a black belt in my school. I only have to take orders from Sensei and anyone above me in the older class. I want to know why it's so very necessary to have people ordering us around, what's it supposed to be teaching me?
  24. Why is it that we lowly belts are always being given orders? Why are we barely allowed to think for ourselves, when the higher ranks get to boss us around and give us lots of orders? Just find it odd, and hard, because I hate following orders, it doens't allow me to think for myself and make my own choices. As I can't figure it out, do any of you know?
  25. Sheesh, it looks like I'm the youngest who's posting. I'm a highschool freshman, and I'm quite well known around school. *attempts to look innocent* I don't know why they all insist I'm more annoying than all hell. Maybe it's that detail where I don't follow upperclassmen's orders...come to think of it, I'm just not good with the whole follow orders thing, not even for MA....oops.
