  2. *looks rather shocked* You know, unless I'm much mistaken, Heian Shodan is our Pinan Shodan....go figure....*is confused now*
  3. Near Wapak, OH Eugue-Ryu orange belt (7th kyu) Student.
  4. I know it makes no sense. I can't figure it myself. I do miss him, there were a lot of times in the relationship he was the sweetest person I knew....but then a lot of the times, near the end, he was always angry with me, because I wasn't home when I should be. I stayed after school a lot to hang out with my friends. And as to how old he is....he's 15, only a month and a half older than I. He had a nightmare of a childhood, if you can call it that. It's probably more true to say he had no childhood.
  5. Okay, yeah, I know this will sound like it happens to everyone, and from what I've seen, it just about does. That's beside the point. But yeah...I was going out with my best friend of many years ago, in a long distant relationship. I went out with him for about a year, then I broke up with him. He had mentally abused me, and actually, though it takes a bit more work to see, and it's not severe, sexually abused me. As it happens, my friends know me better than I'd normally like, and my green belt friend guessed what was happening (he practically reads my mind. Everyday. He knows what I do, when I did it, and why I did it, just by looking at my eyes and how I move. It's infuriating.) He told the rest of my friends, and I am now about completely out of the relationship. I've cut all contact with my former boyfriend, changed e-mails and such, deleted accounts (thank God he doesn't know about this site, I love it too much), but I still want to talk to him. I miss him terribly, even though that probably doesn't really make sense. I talked to him once, last night, and I feel better for it, like I've finally finished with it, but it's strangee....it's something I can't quite understand, I'm only 15, for God's sake! And barely that.....if anyone's been through this, which I would bet is true, do you have any advice I could have? Please? ::edit:: Clarified who I cut contact with.
  6. ::edit:: Sorry, double post.
  7. Well, as nobody from my dojo has found me on here yet.....*grins* I can't think of much that's funny Sensei's done or said, I mean, yeah, he'll joke around some, but he's pretty serious. The most hilarious thing I can think of that he's done, is on one occasion, we had a married couple paired together, working on grappling. I was paired with my best guy friend, and it was more than a little odd, especially after Sensei's wonderful comments. Anyway, Sensei looked at who they had chosen as partners, and when they were on the mats, he said he better not hear any unzipping noises or he was getting his katana down. We heard zipping noises. Sensei got his katana down, and was threatening them with it jokingly. Very odd, dirty humor, but hey, that's the adult class for you.
  8. 15, orange belt (7th kyu), Eugue-Ryu
  9. My motivations: ~Absolute fascination with it since I was, as my friend would put it, knee high to a grasshopper. ~Love to learn the philosophy and concepts and beliefs behind the techniques. ~Self defense. ~Lose weight. ~Social. (I have a friend who brought me into this, and we're bringing the rest of the gang in now.) ~It's the one "sport" I'm good at.
  10. One of my Sensei's favorite topics, Sen-no-sen. Attack the attack. You can use a block as an attack, depending on your intent.
  11. Hi. My name is Staka Vaday, Ycaford of Tylenol. My friend's name is Smica Caale, Htibeetlebug of Tylenol. ::edit:: I think I don't honestly have the right to use any sort of car, because I can't drive yet. So....My name is now Staka Vaday, Ycalawnmower of Tylenol. I can drive a lawnmower, at least.
  12. Thank you for the advice. I can't say I teach much, but enough to know it's not as easy as Sensei makes it look. And as long as the brown belt doesn't start yelling at me again, I can manage it.
  13. I'm most comfortable with my left side forward, but I do switch sides after the first round. It confuses people.
  14. Well....in all technicallity, I'm not supposed to....not really....I'm only an orange belt. I currently know the kata for my next test, the two I need to get this far anyway, the one for my purple belt test (which is a long way off) and one for my BB test. I love being in advanced class. So, I learned the first two in order, then I learned the purple belt kata, then I learned the BB kata, then I learned the blue belt kata. I know them all, and I can perform them.
  15. I'm not known for anything....Then, I've only been to one tournament, but backfist and reverse punch worked pretty well for me.
  16. My "home" is in the Japanese arts, most especially Eugue-Ryu and Aikido. I don't like TKD. I never tried it. All I know is I got a concussion from one of it's practitioners yesterday with his instructors cheering him on. Okay, take that back. The art is okay. But I don't like that kid.
  17. Ummm....concussion, dunno how bad it is. I know I'm missing time slots from the past two days though, I'm supposing that's a bad thing?
  18. Okay, tournament is done with.....Ouch.....fifth (out of five) in kata, 1st (out of us two girls) in sparring. They wouldn't let me fight the boys. I feel insulted, I'm stronger than most guys! But then, when I fought the TKD kid, my head still hurts and I'm still seeing stars. I got hit about 4 1/2 hours ago.
  19. I like Pinan Shodan best out of the five katas I know. I'm not supposed to have learned two of them yet either.....I've barely learned Pinan Shodan, but it's fun. Easier for me than Nihanchi Shodan and the Bokudan kata. And thank God it's harder than Ichikyu and Nikyu. Sooooo simple. Not to say I do them perfectly, but still, at least it's longer.
  20. Hmmm....the monster thing looks quite odd. Reminds me vaguely of my brother in the morning, they sound quite the same, all yells.
  21. One bit of advice: Don't be afraid to fall. I've been in my dojo for about 9 months. We've gone over ukemi about...oh, 5 times. I only just got it last week. Fear of falling made me tense up right before I hit the ground. And tuck your chin, or you'll get really really bad kinks in your neck.
  22. I can't keep my room clean. I honestly tried, really, I did, but I could't find anything. Now it only takes a few seconds to find things....so what if I have papers flying around my head?
  23. There's one boy in our dojo who washed his yellow belt....it looks more like a white belt now, and Sensei said to let that be a lesson the the rest of the belts. I think the kid was in trouble, too. Not to mention the kids who forget their belts three classes in a row....
  24. There are kiais at preset points in kata, I agree. But labeling any other kiai as wrong is what I disagree with. Kiais should be a natural extension of any punch or kick. Maybe a person decided to put a bit more effort into a punch or kick sometime and they kiai. I do not think that is wrong. Maybe awkward in a dead silent class . One of the things instructors got other students to do at winter camp was to kiai on every count of the kata. Well, it's moreso if you do them on stretches. That's not good for you, you could pull a muscle while trying to stretch and that's not good. So, that's the push-up thing there.
  25. Is it like no-mind?
