  2. yeah i love using medicine balls. every time i go to the gym i do a set of 30 ups while i have it trown at my stomach
  3. my quads and thighs have been hurting since friday and now its tuesday but they only hurt a small bit now. to much dancing this weekend. though i find it a really good work out on your toes and jumpin up and down for 6 hrs straight.
  4. ive seen quite a few people get a tempory belt but never fail. but like the above guys said you should only be tested once you are ready. my sensei says that its not really a test because you can do it, all you are doing is going in and showing what you can do.
  5. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=7541 have a look here. this thread has all the stuff you need to know about abb work outs.
  6. there was some stuff on the descovery channel ages ago that my mate sa but he can't remember what its called
  7. yep putting weights on your back is a good idea. once u can do 10 reps with a weigh on your back increase it.
  8. true. thats why i will always throw them more then once. i will throw them until my opponent has realised and is able to stop or block them. then i throw it again but on the last few strikes i will change it up compleetly and do something else. he is expecting a right cross so i kick him to the leg that sort of thing.
  9. £4 for the kickboxing lessons in the hall £5 for kickboxing in the gym £2 for boxing in the gym £2.50 (college discount) for thai boxing in the hall
  10. i dont know how to treat it but my advice is if it hurts when your training dont train. or train other parts of your body where you don't have to use your leg.
  11. yeah we do but i hardly ever switch when im in range as if your opponent sees what your doing they can just kick you straight in teh side of the knee.
  12. Tonight at the gym i tried out the ultimate burpees ive doen a few before only like 10 i haven't pushed my self like i did tonight. I did 2 sets of 20 and then a third set and when i got to 20 my mate was shouting at me to do more until i reached mmf (momentary muscular failure) i think i pulled out about 30 or so. after that i was dead on the floor. at first they felt easier then normal burpees but after the first set i was driping with sweat and changed my mind lol. In between the sets i did shuttle runs across the length of the studio hall in the gym, i did 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 10 alternets, 10 star jumps and 10 jumping burpees. Here's a pic of me after i reached mmf and couldn't do any more ultimate burpees i was lying on the floor for about a min so my mate got my mobile out my bag and took a photo of me lol. http://www.freepixhosting.com/uploadedfiles/P0324_214007.jpg Edit- Next time im going to add a star jump into teh burpee insted of a normal jump.
  13. lol thats nothin, last year someone got stabbed in the bum with a knife at my college over a game of pool
  14. My mum got me in to MA to get me off the street and stop smoking drugs and hanging about with the wrong people. and it worked
  15. ^ really? our sensei isn't alowed to grade us we have to have an other instructor from another school come down and do it.
  16. Spot on! When i do my movement sessions at work (im a nursery teacher) with the 3 and 4 year olds i get right in to it with them and they love it when i have them running around the mats i run on the spot when they are jumping i jump on the spot then they skip i do the same and i pull funny crazy faces while im motivating the children and they love they get right into it and its great because i work the poor sods so hard and when i get into it they love it.
  17. if you enjoy it why not. ok so you may never be a champion. i like most people tarin in MA because they enjoy it. so i say yeah go for it. By the way nice name, he's a sick MC
  18. Very true. However, in some areas of the world certain scenario's are more common than others. For example, I live in an area where the primary weapon/attack method used would be either weaponless or with a knife or blade. However, in the nearest big city to me gun crime is having a massive increase, so a "street encounter" there would be more likely to involve a gun or guns than a similar scenaio in the place where I live would do. yeah same in london. your most likely to fight someone whos wepponless or with a blade where i live but gun crime is rising so much as its seen to be cool to be a gangster these days.
  19. 2 lol im quite heavy and my all my strength is in my legs. when i started training i couldnt do any so its an improvement

  22. Yes make it fun the funner the better. you should also think of new ways to teach as if you keep repeating the same tghing they will start to get bored. i think its great if you can reward them for their effort father then what the acomplish. and i dont mean reward them by giving them some sweets or a bottle of coke. you could make a sticker chart and every time they do well they get a sticker and after they have 10 stickers you could buy them a book then 30 stickers a cheap toy like an action figure and 40 stickers a trip to the zoo somthing along those lines. this way the children will feel like they are working towards somthing. this will also help when they are older as it sets the foundation of working. you work and as a reward you get paied. praise and encouragement and the to key words here you need to constantly do both on the whole children love to be praised so the more you incourage and praise the children the more they will want to take part. Hope that helps. if you want any more advice lemmie know.
  23. Personally i don't like people with big egos. i know lots of fighters have big egos so many boxers love to taunt and stuff and people in the gym who work the weights alot walk around like they are a king. Do you guys think that as a martial artist you do need a big ego, to tell your self you are the best and that no one is better then you. What do you guys think about egos?
  24. thanks for all your advice people. there is no chance of me quitting no matter how long this period goes on for, i believe starting kickboxing is the best thing that has ever happened to me and i enjoy it so much. as far as comparing my self to others i don't make it a habbit its just somthing i have noticed. yes its true the more you spar the better you get at fighting and thats why i have beeing going to the boxing gym and training with the other higher grades on sundays and even doing the boxing lessons before that (as much as i hate boxing) Oh well i hope pineapple is right and that its just around the corner. anyways im off to the gym now. Thanks again guys and girls Peace
  25. Ive been kickboxing for 2 years this june. the first year was great my first grading was after 8 lessons and i passed that easily and then my second was 6 months later where i did so well i got a grade and a half and then i graded about 4 months later and got a full grade. i haven't graded since last april due to injuries at the worst time. but recently i feel like im not improving much. i know now its harder and i am learning all the advanced kicks so it will take me longer to improve but at the same time it feels like im staying at the same level. i hate boxing and i personally thing im crap with my hands on their own(thats why ive just started doing boxing once a week) i like to mix it up bt i feel like im getting picked off more then i used to. other people in my class who don't train half as hard as me seem to be getting better. my friend at the class i used to think i was alot better then him but now i feel like that were on the same level and that some how he is getting better then me. Has anyone else ever felt like this?
