  1. I use "pineapple" to represent Hawaii!
  2. I have trained in different schools at the same time but I always received permission from my teachers prior to doing so.
  3. A good school will not do anything to make you look like a fool. Just practice one thing....RESPECT and you'll do just fine.
  4. I just wanted to point out that my experiences with disrespectful youths are the exceptions rather than the rule. Most younger practitioners do show respect.
  5. Hi kenttiensankari! and welcome!

    Fed up?

I receive comments like these all the time but it never bothered me. I just laugh with them and continue with whatever I was doing........ unless they start asking some serious questions about martial arts.
  7. Hi Armbar! and welcome!
  8. Okay, KarateChick06, so how how you going to handle this?
  9. I feel young...untill I look in the mirror!
  10. Thanks for the info, Brenda!
  11. Bruce Lee movies is what inspired me to train in the martial arts! Thanks Bruce!!!
  12. I had great expectations when they described the new technology that would reveal things never revealed before. I was disappointed with the show and turned it off before it was over. This is not the kind of martial art that I train in. On the other hand, I must give my respect for the people who choose to do this type of art because it obviously takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
  13. I used to skateboard back in the days when skateboards weren't sold in the stores. You had to get a set of skates and screw the metal wheels to a piece of board and I got the stitches on my head to prove it.
  14. Hi JusticeZero! and welcome!
  15. I attempt to do repetitions without borebom by doing a different technique between the reps. I'll use the inward block as an example. 10 reps of inward block followed by a different technique, then 10 more reps of inward block followed by another technique, 10 inward blocks, etc. Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? Do I think that repetition is important? 16. I'm considering buying a treadmill. Your thoughts please!!
  17. I have been taught numerous ways to disarm a person...none of which I would like to try in a real life situation........ Try giving a rubber knife to someone and tell that person to attack you in any way that he wants to and remember that anywhere that the blade touches you, you are cut......It is a lot harder to defend against than a lot of people think. The best defense against a knife is to look for a weapon of your own to use against the attacker.
  18. I checked out the link for "Kona" coffee provided by Krunchyfrogg and I was wrong when I said that the high grade (peaberry) sells for $20. It's selling for $39.99 a lb.
  19. You're correct that that is what it's SUPPOSED to be but like I said, many of the young practitioners want to prove themselves .
  20. I once had a youngster go all out on me. He was throwing as fast and as hard as he could so I "taught him a lesson". I was criticised by others for doing so. So it seems that it's a "damned if I do and damned if I don't" situation.
  21. I am now 50 years old and occasionally young practitioners asks me to spar with them. I love sparring for the sake of practice but I have too many times encountered people who just want to prove themselves. I feel that it is disrespectful to be challenged this way by people so much younger than me. I feel no need to prove myself and even when they go all out on me, I still hold back a lot. I'm not as fast as I used to be but I can still hit very hard but then again I don't want to hurt anyone. How should I handle these situations?
  22. Hi Saotome! and welcome!
  23. I think that I'll start an infocommercial called. "How to get rich selling fraudulent black belt certificates"
