no we get loads of long legged people in tkd and they have no problems at all - if anything it can be an advantage
-
yeah- not easy though when you cant full on kick them because they're your students not that i WOULD injure a little kid attacking me
-
step back wards, duck low section side kick high section hook kick [down on one knee]

what about you nails ---- you can file them off because nail files are dangerous and so will be banned, but then your nails will grow and then they'll be dangerous - and you can bite them because someone will remove you teeth becuase theyre dangerous, and tehn will all end up having to walk round with uncut nails NOOOOO!!!! sorry got carried away - but this was such a stupid article that actually doesnt seem that far fethced.

Do Black-Belts have to register themselves as weapons

jsut to answer the post about the farmer - he shot them while they were running away - so technically he wasnt "defending his home" - even though they had burgled and vandalised his house many times before. -
lol - star wars theme.... I always find teaching kids of that age a little challenging , and im old enough not to have an age problem when i teach....i thnik generally that's wehre you need the whole "patience is a virtue" thing going on otherwise you might go mental.

yes as always - and as a TKD practitioner - i would agree : some arts are just more adapted to real defense of yourself... I personally would not want to mess about with the jui jitsu practitioner of equal skill to mine in TKD... [just to name one art - not trying to suggest JJ is the be all and end all of self defense just hte first that came to mind]

am i to old to start out in TKD
Sam replied to xocutelilmissieox's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
15 thats stil quite young really Think about it when ur 25 youll have been gonig for 10 years any youll still be young I started at 14 [literally just before my 15th birthday] and now im 19 [almost 20] so ive been going 5 years... so no in my opinion its a good age as you can grasp the concepts quicker than children and you can train a little harder than them because youre a bit older... -
do guys like chicks that a martial artists?
Sam replied to IAMA_chick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Dont think it makes a difference to me, can seee how it helps to share in interest like that - and if it is a dominant portion of your life [training] then they're gonna be more understanding bout it more easily... -
you can imagine it... "hmmmm i wonder whether pointy knives can kill"..... 2 years later "yes".... "well im done, lets go publish it" Wish i could get paid for stuff like that,
-
good luck getting the money together andi realy hope its worth it
-
that first links brilliant - i completely died on the floor for a while after getting through all that.... cool Thanks for the info - get to practice some more crazy jumping kicks now.

styles/types of TKD
Sam replied to high jump kick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Im quite happy to write an article up about hte difference between ITF and WTF but to be honest coming from the uk im not that knowledgable about teh ATA history other than the basics. Also as to which is thebest style - there really isnt one - agian ill repeat what has been said its situational AT BEST.... sometimes it just may be down to the individual practitioners... seem to end up saying that alot. -
Yeh TSDforChrist heard the same- that it used to be in the curriculum; And the thing bout swtizerland which is funny. Id imagine as i said that any army doesnt train in a recognizable style - just whatever works - self defense in their case is completely different, and commonly irrelevant as far as the law goes... they're training with completely different aims and looking at different skills and applications
-
Also - legally it should be quick cos as soon as they stop attacking you you're no long defending yourself, your legally the aggressor.... [on a side note ]
-
Wow - 100% cant really do too much better than that.... i guess Congratulations
-
Any of you guys thought about this type of training?
Sam replied to CapitalKarate's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree about that - but real life scenarios would involve some pretty intense situations.... heavily outnumbered, randomly being smacked from behind, etc... but then again there is only so much you can train for. -
Maybe use a feather - now everyone would start looking stoopid
