  1. If Karate is allowed into the Olympics, they won't have to change the rules. The WKF already did it, so therefore, the rules of the Olympics will be the same as the rest of tournaments around the world. That is what the rest of the sport do.
  2. I don't think that they allow that. If you mail the IOC, they will be sure to give you all the information you need.
  3. The Chinese have no control over what goes into the Olympics. You would have to write a letter to the IOC. The Olympics address is http://www.olympics.org, go there and see what you can find out.
  4. You should read some of his biographies like one called Bruce Lee: Fighting Spirit. You will see how many movies used his name long after he was dead.
  5. I totally agree Tim, thats why when Karate becomes an Olympic sport, I will be the first one with the Gold.
  6. Good post Tim. You asked in your essay...uh...i mean..."post" why do we see these fighters go into the ring if their styles are so dangerous. Pride! Two things could have happened. One, they made their own style and thought it was great all on their concieted own OR their teachers could have told them a lot of crap without showing them.
  7. Names just come along from Movies, role models, and friends.
  8. To date, no Muay Thai are being considered at the moment. It may be considered in the future and I hope it will be added. There is talk about Karate being added and Judo being phased out along with Tae Kwon Do. Karate, to encourage the Olympic Committee to consider its bid, has drastically changed the rules to the sport side of it.
  9. I have many girlfriends who actually liked me calling them chicks. It is really great. Although there was one who I called chiquita, but we won't go into that.
  10. You assume that I said it was from a Karate master. Why is that? He was actually a Gung Fu/ Kung Fu master.
  11. Then I'll start... I think Competitions are great if you enjoy them. They are a good part of training. It allows you to interact with people, use your techniques to a certain degree, and it can be a good place to pick up chicks.
  12. I apologise for the misinterpretation. I meant to type "push" not "puch". Sorry, I mean to guide the punch into the spin and therefore taking the opponent of balance. I would never punch a kick, like you said, it is injury to yourself.
  13. I saw it on TV. Even though I didn't exactly believe it myself when I saw it, I didn't dismiss it as illusion. It is people's belief and I believe in it myself, so I do not dismiss it. Bruce Lee himself, was a firm believer in the power of Chi.
  14. All I posted was what I learned from other Indian monks.
  15. I don't know about kickboxing, but I would step back, puch the kick to keep going and attack from there, you could ashi(sweep) or punch to his ribs. Most fighters aren't expecting that unless they are properly trained. Or, you could go in real close. One more tip, after his foot touches the ground, be ready for a second kick to just spring up. I do that in my Karate tournaments and it always catches them by surprise.
  16. Drink tea, it flushes out the system. Sorry, it is what my quack doctor used to say. I agree with the other testements, stretch slowly and take your time. It will get better, but only with time.
  17. It is amazing how these belts can be manipulated for public show and traditional values. There are some schools with lots and lots of belts, yet when they get their black, they know virtually nothing. Then there are some who have very few and when they get their black in a short while, they are great. I have seen that with many schools and different styles. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that as well.
  18. I said the Japanese names out of respect for ancient traditions. I am curious why Muay Thai doesn't have forms, they are usually found in many arts of unarmed combat around the world.
  19. Could someone please refresh my memory on what is being argued right now? Sorry, I have lost track.
  20. Ki is a very strange thing, it can pop up anywhere. It is something that has sustained me for hours of tournament fighting. It can be channeled as an energy source for many things. One man who was an expert at Ki or Chi or whatever you call it, made the temperature at the surface of his hand go to 800 degrees celcius. It is amazing what Ki can do if you are taught to use it. If you don't believe in it, that is fine as well.
  21. Some people have a strict code of honour. Those are the people who die first in life. I would, however, stay in a fight if I had a chance of winning. If he had a weapon, like a gun, then I would run. If it was a streetfight, then I would stay. It is just my pride and my way of thinking.
  22. I could say that at first he was rejected and went to live in a cave and then returned when he was 70. The Indian meditation techniques are different then most. The emptiness of the mind would also mean giving up desires. That desire would also mean giving up breathing for long periods of time. The monks at Shaolin Szu were mentally trained and not physically. Bhodidharma said that Bhudda told us to work on the soul, yet the body and the soul are inseperable, so therefore, to work one you must work the other. His exercises were kick and punchs and different techniques that made Shaolin Boxing what it is.
