For now im safe from Guns becuase in Australia guns are illegal, so a attack with a gun is rare.

Aikido is very effective for self defence and in my opinion one of the best, yes it does take a long time to learn but you arent learning nothing in those (say) 4 years of training I believe the stuff you would learn in that 4 years would be perfect for self defence because you have learnt most basic techniques, and the basic techniques on there own are very effective. I would have to say some of the people I know go in the martial arts for these reasons and I know for a fact people dont muck around with them, im talking about in the school yard not in public because many of these people are friends from school.

U might notice that many martial artists have big egos , probaly because people with egos want to be in control and if they do the martial artrs they might think other people will be scared of them.

It funny though, many people at my high school do kickboxing and they tell me that they probaly unbeatable becuase they goto to the gym everynight. And I tell them that there is always someone going to be stronger and faster then you as you get older.

Once you reach a rank, no one can take that away from you becuase its a personal achivement.

And it proves you dont need super amounts of muscles and power to win a fight.
