What do you look for?
jedimc replied to Kaminari's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
The end fight scene in the movie has to be the greatest fight in the movie, nice and long fighting but not too repetitive - weapons can be in one part of it if you like, some good ending fights in some movies are the ending of kiss of the dragon (Jet Li), who am I (Jackie Chan),The Transporter (good fights scenes in the movie but none at the end.but still a great movie) -
If you stick with wing chun a while then move onto jkd you might understand it better, buts its your choice.

Karate Vs Wing chun
jedimc replied to steve57's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
There are many styles of karate, shotokan- Shotokan techniques in kihon and kata are characterised by deep, long stances which provide stability and powerful movements. Strength and power are often demonstrated instead of slower, more flowing motions Isshinryu techniques are mostly thrown from natural stances, limiting wasted motion, maintaining stability, Isshinryu stresses "close-in" techniques . kempo karate - more circular moves, such as the hook, or the uppercut as main attack methods. Western Kempo has more grappling and throws than Karate. Both Karate and Western Kempo use kata, but Kempo kata tend to have more techniques to them, with an emphasis on multiple hits. and lots more -
Ive grown to love the weapons part of Aikido, I might even do a MA like Kenjitsu or Kendo one day.

Jiu jitsu is a great art for law inforcement but what you said is very true, Jiu jitsu is a brutal art and mistakes can happen. Jiu Jitsu relies on brute force to keep the opponet down. -

Tai Chi DVD
jedimc replied to jedimc's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Thanks for the advice, I knew learning from a video might have that problem where you teach yourself the wrong technique and you end up having a hard time fixing it. I dont need to rush it I got plenty of time lol, but Ill research the different styles of tai chi more. -
I would like to do Tai Chi later when I leave school at the moment Aikido is enough for me, I would do it because it is a great art and I beleive it is a perfect match for Aikido. Anyway I saw Tai Chi dvds, I dont think they were for self defence Tai Chi but more for health and fitness like that stuff u see people doing on the beach in the mornings- would this be good training until I get a Tai Chi instructer? thanks

I heard the fight scenes will be very violent, anyway I bought once upon a time in china 1,2 and 3, the fight scenes in these movies are perfect and amazing.

If it is your passion then it will be worth finding a dojo, Kendo looks like a great art and it will give greater coordination and placement from opponents.
-
I read that they used jujitsu because their armour was hard to move around in so jujitsu was the art that overcame this problem.

Family Guy
jedimc replied to scottnshelly's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I've seen some good fight scenes in a couple episodes. For instance: in The Thin White Line, Brian busts up a drug smuggling ring of midgets. Pretty good multiple attacker fight scene. in Lethal Weapons, we see a pretty good example of a modern day 'McDojo' when Lois joins a Tae-Jitsu class and beats people up. Then there's the episode that ends with the whole family fighting. And the one where Peter fights a large chicken for several minutes. Anyway, it's probably nothing, but i just enjoy watching the fight scenes in this cartoon. The Tae-jitsu one is the one I saw, I must ask my friend if I can borrow his ones hes got all the seasons on dvd. -
