I dont think we should say that Kyokushin is the nearly the same as kick boxing. well to tell you the truth i see kickboxing a waterdowned version of karate, but thats my opinion. please dont get offended.

I heard somewhere that there was medical proof that constantly doing high tension kata could lead to severe medical problems. Apparently there was a higher case of bowel cancer amongst people that regularly practiced kata like Sanchin. wow, eh we all gonna die oneday, but hopefully our kata wont kill us lol

I had a friend who use to do zen do kai and he speaks very highly of it, but i have read rumors in other forums about thier organisation being money hungry or something like that but you cant judge them on a rumour, it is an australian born art and has many styles in it eg karate , kung fu, taekwondo, jujustu, brazlilian jujustu and heaps more. http://www.zendokai.com.au/Bobjones/info/zdk.htm

He made up your kata??? Nothing wrong wth that, so long as he doesn't claim that they are a series of ancient kata long lost to modern civilization which he was taught be a shaolin monk who believed him to be the one man spirited enough to carry on the ancient wisdom. Somewhere down the line, every kata was made up by somebody. no its nothing ancient, its more from the dinosaur age , joking, he made it up becuase he made up his own style but try to keep it a tradiotional japanese style, the techniques are documented from many styles.

Hi at my dojo sometimes i've been told to do my kata in tension, meaning i put tension on my muscles and i do the kata very slow and hard,if you could tell me wat the importance of tension and why we do it.

Helping other students is a part of it but its also helping yourself with talking with other people you dont know , talking in front of crowds, getting better social skills and making new friends.

At my dojo the everyones has a go at teaching a technique for warm up,and i think the green to brown belts must teach a miumuim amount of hours of class instruction to grade to thier next belt. for kata the we get teached by the black belts or some times the higher belts teach the lower belts thier new kata.

Wing Chun or Krav Maga
jedimc replied to Lenny's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
well i definitely not calling it a ultimate art from wat ive seen, but i think there is no ultimate art as there are limited techniques the arms, legs and body can make unless you get every single effective technique that would be good in real life situations from evry style. but I like doing Kata's and traditional stuff anyway. -
Wing Chun or Krav Maga
jedimc replied to Lenny's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I dont see why krav maga is seen as a superior martial art or why everyone talk this way about it what ive seen from these videos i dont see much differnce from the self defence techniques i do at my karate dojo, krav maga seem to be all attack, the aim is to get your opponent to the ground as fast as possible as for the gun defence clip i see this technique very dangerous the gun was right in front of that lady i mean maybe this is the efficient way to do it but its still dangerous. i dont know much about this martial art but if you can give me a few facts on it, that would be good. http://www.kravmaga.com/video.asp
