Chain punching.
Slider replied to Bon's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
It is not scientifically possible to hit someone 11 or even 16 times per sec. BOOM! That was 1 sec....your telling me you just hit me 11 times? Thats B.S. dude...I have been training in Kenpo for 13 years and it places heavy emphisis on the use of "fast hands" and I know for a fact you can't do that....its against the laws of physics. Theres no way in hell that you can hit someone 11 times in 1 sec....anyone who claims that he can should call guiness and prove it. Hasta!! _________________ Check out "Koldsteel" Enterprises. Hey guys, I know they are quite rare, but if anyone here has any Ed Parker videos...I will pay top dollar for them if you are willing to part with them. I collect all I can on parker's literature, or videos, and I know they are out there. If you have em, and are willing to part with them for some cash...lemmie know Hasta!! _________________ Check out "Koldsteel" Enterprises. Is it actual JKD?
Slider replied to The JKD Kid's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
JKD I can hear ya there....from what I have heard from Dan Inasonto himself (certified by Bruce Lee to teach JKD), JKD and JKD Concepts are totally different. JKD Concepts does not have a direct lineage to Bruce Lee, but JKD does. It's difficult for a new student to tell the differance unfortunantly, but there are major differances in the 2 systems. Just dirty fighting?
Slider replied to ramcalgary's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Muay Thai is pretty hardcore....the average professional fighter in Thailand starts his career at 14 years old, and he's done by the time he is 21....thats a testament to the brutality of "Real" Muay Thai. The fighters in Thailand train EXACTLY how they would fight in the ring....thats the only way to prepare for the actual fight in the ring. These guys have of the most awsome power I have ever seen....take a leg kick by one of these guys, and you'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. Hasta!! Slider -
Sweet JKD, I'll hit ya up sometime....pardon the pun..lol Hasta!! Slider

DO NOT try to drop weight through "sweating it out"...that is very, very dangorous and will cause you to possibly pass out during the fight, and cause health problems. I advise cardio vascular excercise, and cutting down on carbos and sugars. Sugars will cause you gain weight faster cuz the glucose from sugar will turn to fat, and will cause fatigue. Cardio Vascular is ALWAYS the best way. Hasta!! Slider

I agree...I tend to not wanna waste my money on prize fights that last 2 min...and watching a bunch of fat guys roll around on the mat gets about as fun to watch as getting a root canal. I think they should mix the fight according to the style, but that would kinda negate the purpose of a "reality" event, but oh well. Hasta!! Slider

Make sure the instructor is qualified, and make sure to speak with some of his students. Get a good idea of how they feel about their instructor, and method of training. This will give ya good peace of mind before selecting the right school. Hasta!! Slider

Karate teaches you to deal with some contact....and hockey has alot of it...so if there is any sport that karate could enhance the most, I think Hockey would be it. Hasta!! Slider

Kenpo is VERY far from choppy. In fact, comparing it to Kali/Escrima is interesting cuz Ed Parker had roots in Kali/Escrima. Try it out...you'll see. Kali/Escrima is also interesting too....very brutal martial art, and quite deadly in the hands of an expert. If you like shicks and knives...Kali/Escrima is the art for you Hasta!! Slider

UFC, TKD vs Jiu-Jitsu
Slider replied to TKD_McGee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
TKD fighters will get beat down by grappelers no matter where they are at. BJJ will take you down quicker if you kick anyway. I advise learning to fight on the ground to compliment your arsenal. Hasta!! Slider
