the blackbelt club costs $300. the instructors incourage their students to get it because it is suppossed to represent dedication to the art. it allows you to come as many times a week as you want, without it is limited to 2, except for me of course:) it also gives you discounts for items such as a spiffy new gi or weapons. most of the little kids get it. plus you get a this shiny new patch that says BLACKBELTCLUB on it i like the friendly atmosphere of the place and all in all it has only done me good. it definatly boosts your confidance. oh well i have already informed you of my decisions. thankyou for the help.

Coolest move in sparring?
dear john replied to blitzcraig's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
it is strange, the more i work on the flashy stuff the better my technique gets with the simple stuff, but if you think about it you must have the simple stuff down before the flashy becomes good. -
Old school traditional fighters vs today's MMA top guns

what about the gracies Rickson Gracie is the most hardcore fighter i have heard of. -
well my school covers eveything you mentioned except the drive through. and the blck belt club allows you to get things cheaper like monthly payments or belt prices. it is funny as hell because this guy in my class is always trying to do things better than me. he knows that his skills will never exceed mine but he still tries to one up me alot. back when i was still paying he decided that he was going to get blackbelt club($300) and glote about it, saying that he could come as many times a week as he wanted and payed less for his monthly payments, well i dont pay at all so HA. he is so dumb though, he doesnt even come that much, like twic a week sometimes. one time he told the teacher on me, telling him that i was saying my kihups wrong, you are supposed to say but i invent my own most of the time. the instructor said he liked mine and to keep doing it lol. he then told me i wasnt i know it all. he is such a funny guy. i even try to help him sometimes but he ignores me. oh well. thanks for the advice guys.

oh man my computer went dead for like 2 weeks it sucked. i would have to say that even though the technique is not always required to get a belt, they are a somewhat diciplined school. in my jujitsu school, if you have poor technique, you go nowhere, but at they same time they are noot the most mootivated bunch of people. either you want it and practice it or you dont and go nowhere. in taekwondo everyone is more peppy it is kinda of wierd the way there system is set up you would think that if they put more pressure on their students to have better technique then they would have better technique, but most of the instructors are impressed if you simply hustle. you guys wanna hear some prices $450 for second dan

take hawian sumo not sumo wrestling the sumo wear you laern how to snap peoples spins.

the monthly payments for most people not in the blackbelt club is $95 if you are in the club you pay $75 to $85. blackbelt club costs about $300. i do not pay a cent of monthly payments because i cannot aford to, but im a nice guy and so i get free. but i do pay for the belt test. it is $45, but i am nice guy and so i only pay $20 but like i said, i think that there are some good instructors and i need to stick with them and ignore the bad scene. and as for time, i spend about 7 hours a week training for Tae Kwon Do. i would spend more but i do have other MA to worry about and college and work, and blah blah blah. you get the picture. it is kinf of sad because i have been told by a couple of instructors that my technique is better than most of the candidate belts. i guess that part all comes down to dedication and how hard you study.
-
i think im going to stick with my original decision, which was to ignore the crumy instructors and to only listen to the ones that are good and fair to the system. ill stay, but if i find better i might leave. and as for the lineage. there pasts are all different.

i was once in a group of four?/ we have recently started to split up and it seems that the reasons are very clear. our philosophy on life is different. me= must deal with problems in life, find an answer, never give up. holds on to emotions for too long. friend 1= cant do anything about it so loose hope. well most anyway. friend 2=forget every bad thing ever, act like it didnt happen. selective memory. friend 3=live life by the seat of you pants, gives great advice about life, but has a horrible one. party hard person. just in case any of you havent caught on, i am soooooooooooooo depressed.

difference between sparring and real fighting
dear john replied to dear john's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well if people like Kano unified most of them in the later part of the 1800's then im sure that 700plus mark didnt last long. and this was the time my guy started his training. -
so here does............ for years i have done this and everytime i do it i feel way better afterwards. you sit down in a reclined position(for some reason it doesnt work while lieing down or sitting straight up) make sure that it is relatively quiet and dark. stare off into the middle of no where. try not to have any thoughts. you can only think about your body and how it feels. your eyse must remain open even if you get tired. your eyse can not move either, if they move or if any part of you body moves then the process starts over. after a few minutes try to imagine a sinking feeling. your whole body should feel weighted. now imagine that you are looking into an empty space and this space you see is black, kinda like the universe but with no stars or anything. this is really all about relaxing. just let go, let everything in your life go and think about how relaxed and good you feel. i never knew that this was a form of meditation until somebody told me so. well have fun and tell me anything that you do to meditate, try mine see if it works, tell me what you get.

The Unbendable Arm in an armbar
dear john replied to Stold's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
okay seriously, have somebody poke your arm when you perform the unbendable arm, there is no muscle. it is all about locking it out and ligaments and tendons -
in my tae kwon do it seems that everyone moves up a belt no matter what, it seems that simple time is the only factor. in fact we even had a, in my opinion great instructor quite because he believed that several people should not have moved up. i see this too. i get a little frustrated because i see how hard i work at it and others dont and they move ahead along with me. i know that we have some great instructors and i know we have some crumy ones too. it seems that this sort of belt system is the same up until you try out for your black belt. your technique could be horrible, like white belt style horrible, but when black testing comes around that is when it is looked at. does anyone think that my dojo is a mcdojo

well im sure that since he did not take all 700 then he probly missed out on some moves but he took enough to make a system that was better than most. what differences were you thinking about -
difference between sparring and real fighting
dear john replied to dear john's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
obviously he did not take 700 different kinds of jujutsu. from what i heard is was about 20. but if you think about it headlocks armlocks wrist locks leg locks throws take downs ground techniques a few strikes how many styles would you really need im pretty sure out of the 700 different styles of jujutsu many taught the same thing. and he probly only took specific styles that focused on certain areas that he felt he wanted to know. thanks for the site info
