  1. Can you say this in Japanese?: I know how to count to 10 in Japanese.
  2. I like this point............
  3. Kuen, Kuyhn, Kune, Chuan,.......or if it is a "family" Chin Gar (Gah, Ga-whatever) or Chin Gar Chuan.........
  4. Hey. there is a guy who is near my town that endorses it....I'll look him up in the white pages....bet I cant find him.
  5. I don't understand these sentances. Yes. There are a lot of Chi demonstrations which are mechanical. There are a lot which anyone can do with just instruction. There are a lot which are downright staged. It's a term with a lot of hocus-pocus and mumbo-jumbo... and more than a few charlatains. When I became aware there was going to be a demo, and what the demonstrator was going to do, I brought material to see if they can perform their "technique" on it. I was turned down each time. To which a person (anon-martial artist) that was with me, was nearby "side-stage" and overheard the demonstrator and assitants) discuss the possibilities of injury from my suggestion. My point, if he mastered so much "Chi", then he could have performed the same demo, with my material. And, this happened in many demos, seminars, and instruction. Furthermore, I do not "completely" dismiss "Chi", I havent "close-the-book" on it.
  6. Even after years of exposure, I remained a consumate skeptic. So much could be explaned mechanically, or psycologially... it was not until the above mentioned expereiences that I was forced to change my position. So by all means, doubt. The healing/reading stuff I can not really show you in an afternoon (though there is a weekend workshop that teaches it, and I've yet to see someone not gain the skills, including myself, from that. There is very little that I can essentally guarentee you will feel from me... but there are one or two. Thanks....you cannot blame one for "doubting" I have seen, been in many, such demos and seminars. What has me doubting are: A.) Throught later teens, and part early adult, I performed magic. One can call me a magician, but i do not think so. I rather be considered as a Entertaining Illusionist. B.) In college, I took up Psychology, I had the notion to be a "shrink", but changed my major. From Psychology, many things were explained about the human mind. C.) Studying Theology, religion has many examples of things unexplained and taken to be true without evidence. But, as with many subjects, I still haven't "close-the-book" on it.
  7. One of the arts that i had trained, not MT, used shins. The instruxtor said it was a larger striking surface, per example of a forearm, but using the power of the legs. Also, in that class, kicks were not high, torso and down. Boy, did it hurt training there.
  8. I push buttons all day at work.
  9. Treebranch Was that his words, or something else his teacher told him? Anyway, Tim Brown sounds well-rounded and true. In other words, a fine example of a good teacher.
  10. Interesting Wing Chun Kuen Man I love adding more sites to my list. It matters not of style, I love many references to martial arts.
  11. Strange one......seen many others
  12. The key word is "timing"
  13. I disagree, if u want the best self defence art then neither a pure grappling art or a pure striking art will do. Krav Maga teaches both. It involves locks, strikes, groundfighting, improvised weapons training, disarming knives/guns and teaches u to defend ur self in a variety of situations. It also teaches u to control anger and stress. Its pure self defence plain and simple, u are trained to kill or disable ur opponent quickly, however it becomes an art form when u learn to be able to use nessesary force ie. not to cause death or permanent damage to ur opponent when nessesary. Krav Maga is battle tested with the IDF (Israli defence forces) and has evolved over the years to become better and better. It is renouned for being easy to learn and no-nonsense. Thats the reason that it is taught to special forces, police and bodygurad agenices around the world... I disagee, Krav isnt the only one that does this. There have been many ex-militray personal that have trained and taught in specialized combat long before the Isralies call theirs "Krav" Long before Krav became popular, I had a such a instructor (ex-military) What some peolple fail to realize, is that the vey term and existence of the martial arts means warfare/fighting. But "Krav", or such of extreme combat training, stray away from the "art" and lean more toward the "martial". They do not put the "art" back into "Martial Art".
